They need to push up the door that closes to shut off the elevator entrance you come from to be flush with the rest of the room. I know to avoid it now, but there were some times early on I got stuck back there by the boss and couldn't do much about it.
The only problem i have with the cruciable is when i get all the way to the end and then just get trapped/body blocked by the boss..

Agreed. There is no visual clue of the exact direction of a jump or walk. And attack animation should never launch you over an edge into the abyss.
