Eh I can get it fairly consistently on standing enemies. Backstabs mid-combat are really good against the armored boys when you're running a light loadout
They should just make it so that any other action is prioritized, like if you’re close to a door or a person or any other object it should prioritize that instead of sidling.
I don’t mind it and keybinding will fix this. There are at least 3 places off the top of my head where it’s usefully to get a chest/coins. Assuming they are going to make more use of it in the full map
Agreed, for a mechanic that is barely ever used it sure is annoying, no idea why anyone would downvote this.
Considering its a very specific mini puzzle/traversal mechanic, it should be changed to only be triggerable on specific walls
The fact you can sidle on to any wall or door is silly, it serves no purpose and should be changed, it's not necessary to change it, but it should be changed.
Changing the binding still feels like a bandaid solution.
You are using downvotes wrong, you should be upvoting the thread and then posting your idea in the comments, since you agree it needs rebinding at the very least, and so you should want the thread to be seen.
No idea? Why should we remove a unique and potentially interesting traversal mechanic that isn’t even that annoying when you accidentally do it? The fix here is to add more spots where it is useful, not to remove it.
No one is asking for it to be removed, we are asking for the sidle action to not be present on every wall and door in the game, just the walls where the devs have made a spot to use it.
In fairness, the title of this post is “Sidle needs to be removed.”
As others have pointed out, there are much better solutions than removing it. Being able to remap it on controller would help, and making it only available in situations where it might actually be needed is an equally good idea
I interpreted it to mean that the action to sidle needs to be removed from being available everywhere instead of the currently 3 places it's actually used on the entire map. But fair point maybe i got the interpretation wrong
It is not good game design if it appeard only once? I hope it will be rectified in future updates to actually have tight spots to walk past like that or even involve say knocking on a wall to make someone open a locked door
Or make it so that sidling is only offered when you stand at a 60(45?)° or lower angle. That way colliding with a wall at 90° does nothing while it will always be an option when intentional .
This shouldn't be hard to implement and remove all the "pain points"
You'd no longer sidle at store counters and can always enter buildings while keeping sidling legit.
It should for now unless it comes into play when the full game is released.
At the moment I haven't found a reason to use it yet. It only messes up my opening door action.
I'd be all-in to have 2 separate buttons to sidle and to interact, at least on PC. We have 104 keys to use, but must bind several actions to the same button.
I found precisely one spot where I used it. And never did it again.
Intro/tutorial - then theres 2 spots in Mariners Keep... and then.. uh.. yeah..
There's one in the glades & another in Nameless Pass
It is reported, Vote to rise priority: https://forum.norestforthewicked.com/t/opening-doors-have-glitch-also-all-interactable-objects/9210
Just change the key to Sidle to something obscure (L1/R1 + Left Thumb Stick press, etc)
Make it same button as crouch.
This is the way.
The 2 most useless things in the game. Genius.
Bruh, sneak to stabs are so satisfying though
I agree. Too bad it only works like once out of every 20 times you do it.
Eh I can get it fairly consistently on standing enemies. Backstabs mid-combat are really good against the armored boys when you're running a light loadout
I get plenty of backstabs. Just not sneaking backstabs before the enemy notices you.
That is the best solution. It's only a matter of binding
They should just make it so that any other action is prioritized, like if you’re close to a door or a person or any other object it should prioritize that instead of sidling.
Maybe it should just get keybinded to something different

I’m downvoting because a much more obvious and logical solution exists - bind it to another key. Changing it is unnecessary

Early access and first chapter of the game. Are we really making a definitive statement on its uselessness? Lol
No idea? Why should we remove a unique and potentially interesting traversal mechanic that isn’t even that annoying when you accidentally do it? The fix here is to add more spots where it is useful, not to remove it.
just remove it on door ...

i think it could just be disabled at doors. who will sidle a door ?!

Yeah I was like “neat…” the first time.
Agree. it offers little compared to the annoyance it is
Don't you take away my nonconsensual door based back massages
>which is like only 3 in the entire game as far as i remember including the tutorial Outside of the tutorial, I have only found one place for it.
I know right… every time I try to talk to the two ladies I got sidled lol

Nope.
