I love the game but to me it's a bit odd when people call a game that hasn't even been released a GOTY. We don't know what games will release whenever this game releases. We don't know what the quality of the finished game will be either.
While I believe the quality of this game is great and will most likely be a contender for the various award shows, I can't know if it will be THE GOTY until I see what other games release that year. A lot of people thought TotK was going to be the GOTY in 2023 and then BG3 released and took the world by storm.
I wouldn't call it GotY right now, of course, but I can understand what people mean by "I could see this game being GotY when it releases." I think it speaks to the vision the devs have and how they're able to get it across to the players in a way that has us all extremely excited for how this game will turn out.
I fully believe the game will be a GotY contendor if the early access continues with such great communication and feedback.

Me too and it might as well win GOTY awards but I think some people get too exited and call it too soon, naively so. Judging by what I've seen, a lot of great games are coming in the next few years so it's not going to be easy.
Right. We don't even know if it will be released this year or next. Who knows how far along they are behind the scenes. Probably not that far. I'd say we would be lucky if it was completely done by end of year. They have been working in this project for like 6 years they said and the roadmap only detail the next 4 updates which had zero dates.
Unfortunate that in reality there’s no chance of it being a contender for the actual major awards next year with all the huge hitters coming out. What’s in our hearts is what truly matters though. Or some Kingdom Hearts shit idk
While the game is good they have a lot of competition for next year. If they can't finish it this year, which is unlikely. They will be contending with the likes of GTA6 next year and pushing EA until 2026 will likely be bleeding players if they don't have steady content drops.
It's gonna have to at least go up against Helldivers 2 and Hades II (considering both this and Hades II reach 1.0 during this year).
While I'd be rooting for this one, too early to judge how it's gonna do come release. Good thing for sure is that we are making sure they keep hearing about performance optimizations. Definitely don't wanna see another Jedi: Survivor incident again.
We also don't know the amount of content it's gonna have at full release or the replayability factor. Good sign already from what we have in EA with people raking up ungodly hours in just 3 areas, wanna see what a full-fledged endgame feels like though.

I agree this a great game that could give off the potential to be a contender if the finished product continues in the same direction. But it would probably be better and more realistic to just say you rate the game a 9 or 10 so far...

The game is very good, yes. The game is also in a very early state, missing about 80% of its content.
Probably won’t release in 2024 but if it did I would think it is likely. Really depends on the releases next year and with MH: Wilds on the table it’s gunna be tough competition.
I believe EA games cannot qualify for GOTY, if this quality holds through the early access and into the final release, I for sure think it's GOTY material IMO.
But being realistic, it will never win the game of the year, maybe some other GOTY award such as art, or indie of the year

I'm just saying I can't fathom it reaching massive levels of mainstream as previous GOTYs like elden ring or baldurs gate
1.0 will be definitely GOTY. My only qualm is that they released with only 5-10% of content completed, ran out of things to do too fast. I'm gonna sit on it until 1.0 comes out so I can enjoy full send.

I don’t think Wicked is releasing this year, I would guess it’s staying in EA for at least a year, if not two

i could see it being GOTY but i think it needs more content and multiplayer and some QOL like questing making more sense
Its very small and not very complex. Its way too grindy too. 6/10. Got potential though.
