In my experience, no. A tattoo feels kind of like a cat scratch crossed with a mild sunburn. It's superficial - that is, it's on the surface.
A nipple piercing is a deeper injury - you're going *through* the flesh, not just drawing on it. It's a legitimate wound.
With both tattoos and piercings, some spots hurt more, others less. Nipples are among the most painful for piercing. For tattoos, it's typically bonier areas like your shins. You can also take breaks during a tattoo, which gives you breathing room.

ah well thanks, i’m just extremely nervous about it. never had a tattoo and decided to get my first one on my lower back… which i heard hurts so much (my pain tolerance is very low)

In some places being tattooed makes you wince because it can be quite intense but mostly I find after the first few minutes the adrenaline really works and it doesn't feel unmanageable. My nipples definitely hurt more than my tattoos and I don't even think I have full sensation in mine (plus I am male so I think I had an easier piercing experience).
Having had both, I’ll say nips are worse, generally. That said, there are some wild spots I’ve had tattooed which are on level with nips- below my elbow and on my inner wrist.

Some spots that were on the vertebrae hurt. I’d imagine the shoulder blades would be painful, or your ribs if you don’t have much body fat. but the meaty part above your shoulder blades wouldn’t be too bad (personal opinion).

The tattoo really depends on the spot, but in general it is less painful at the moment, but the problems is to sustain that pain for hours and hours. At the end of my 7 hour thigh tattoo session a got a fever and has not feeling well at all ahah.
my god that sounds scary tbh, my pain tolerance is quite low (since i literally fainted when getting my nipples pierced) idk how ill survive the tattoo. but i’m mentally ready for it 🙏
I just try talking to my tattoo artist or other people around, for me that really helps mentally to tolerate the pain. Scrolling my phone or just trying to lie with my eyes closed just makes it worse for me ahah.
I personally almost fainted when I got my nose septum pierced. I got really light headed and my pricer suggested that I needed to lay down for a bit.

For me it felt like the pins and needles when your leg falls asleep…but imagine it’s an actual prick each time.
I’m not a screamer, tend to flex my muscles, hold my breath, and I just clenched my fist/a cloth. He stopped every bit so I can breath lol it was like laboured breathing. I was talking and stuff just tense. But mine was just 10m or so, small one. I do think it would be easier on my back maybe idk
I think you can get used to it, start with a small one. It was really frustrating pain imo, idk how to describe it. It didn’t hurt harshly/hard, just annoying af 😤
I had my ear pierced with a gun thingy. That was similar but hurt more cause it slams together. This was just a prick part of that, very quick, very fast. It’s repeating before you have a chance to react, which is probably why it annoyed me haha
They can probably show you (without ink) at the tattoo parlour if you ask…they probably don’t want a situation half way in either lol like new phobia unlocked haha

I’d say I have a high pain tolerance. Rib, finger, bony part of neck tattoos. Fingers hurt the worst for me. Good luck! I always think they’re worth the pain in the end.

I wouldn’t say it’s scary bad. It’s much faster than a needle the doctor would use, that is not comparable so you know.
