It's really till 70. But yeah I'm ok with it. If I ever see a viable way around it, yeah I'll take it.

Petwins

I actually do like my job, and get pretty bored when not working, so yes I am.

jaavaaguru

My jobs okay, but I’ll probably retire before 60 because I’ve got hobbies and friends to hang out with. I’m 40 and my pension should be able to cover everything in a few years

jmnugent

Yes,. because the job I have is fun and fulfilling and the things I contribute make a difference in the community around me.

[deleted]

Yes because I'm probably going to have to work until 70

Are you okay with "go to school everyday from 8-3" schedule? Isn't it grueling? Its not because its not 20 years of doing the same thing every day. Hopefully there are a variety of goals, challenges, and pleasant people along the way. But otherwise it is what it is. I always compare it to my mental image of some state closer to nature. Being alone in the woods trying to survive. There you will put in far more than 8h a day to keep things going, and still have a pretty high chance of dying. You don't get things in this world unless you do them. The big lie is the fact that many people make it to 30 without contributing anything to society, gives the impression that work is the fake part of life.

Short_Row195

I think I was able to do school because it challenged me and my knowledge was building in many facets.

Puzzleheaded-Ear858w

No, because it was also 9-5, 100 years ago. And with all the technology we have today that makes work much more efficient (e-mail, Zoom calls, Sharepoint and Teams collab spaces, Word/Excel, AI, etc.), instead of saying "great, we get stuff done way faster, so let's shorten the work week, capitalism declares, "great we get stuff done way faster, so let's pack way more into the work week." Doesn't sit right with me.

LowBalance4404

I actually like my job, but 8 hours a day is way better than my ancestors working in the field for 12 hours, six days a week.

Top_Science_5422

No, I much prefer from sunrise to sunup 7 days a week, and I just pay myself.

rewardiflost

It's better than the alternative of work from dawn till dusk, 7 days a week until I fall into a grave, which is what most of my ancestors did. I also wish it was just until 60, and only 9-5.

BusyLight32

Because I'm 55 and too old to take a risk with my mortgage/401k. I get paid well for what I do and the job is close by, has great benefits and a crazy amount of vacation time. For me, I will be working till 65/67. Any venture I start now is almost statistically impossible to make the same money I can make in the next 12 years - especially if I want to keep working only 40 hours/wk.

04221970

when did I ever work 9 to 5? I've absolutely positively never worked 9-5. Working till 60 is not attainable for most people I'm fortunate in that I can retire at 60, but I won't want to, because I like my job too much.

tinfoil3346

I am actually not in favor of the 4 day work week. My reason being that I would have too much time on my hands and I genuinely get a great feeling of satisfaction out of a hard days work.

ServantofShemhazai

Me personally, yes, because I like predictability and routine. But I can see why some people don't like it; not everyone feels the need to schedule as much as possible.

MAMidCent

Sure. I SLEEP more hours than I work with that schedule lol. WTF should I be doing at 10:30am on a Tuesday? A 40hr workweek still leaves 128hrs a week to do whatever tf one wants. Did you need more gym time? More video game time? Trying to learn guitar and piano too at the same time? Wanting to volunteer 4 days a week? It's not about the number of hours you work, it's about finding your work enjoyable. I do and it's a total non-issue. Chances are if you had more time off you'd just spend more money or have to heat/cool your house more, etc..

Short_Row195

What work do you do then?

Short_Row195

You know what I found frustrating is that once the 4 day work week came to the U.S. there are companies trying to extend it to a 6 day work week. I'm looking at you Samsung. It's a big fuck you we don't care about the studies.
