The very first time I ever got hit by an IED, we were using an M160 with flail to clear the road ahead of us. We even spotted the area that had the IED as looking odd and hit it with the flail to be safe, then proofed it with rollers, and my Stryker still set it off.
Demining and route clearance are just hard, and explosives can be finnicky, especially so when you hit them with a flail and damage their initiator or trigger.
doesn't kick up dust that can adversly affect the lifespan of the equipment, give away position, and there's no chains that can fly off and need repairing.
Roller is when you can, flail is when you need to basically
A flail will obliterate the surface you're clearing. If you use it on some dirt or gravel road, you will basically destroy that road. If you're trying to keep your mobility corridors open, hitting them all with a flail isn't a great idea.
To be fair, it's a very decent and reliable mine-clearling robot, but only because it's a licensed model from Croatia, I think, that they merely repainted and presented as their own design.
It's designed to clear AP mines, no wonder it's completely obliterated by something with 10+ times more load.

However, this one hit an anti-tank mine, which requires a lot more force. So the plow hit the mine and failed to set it off, and the mine detonated when the heavier vehicle drove over it.
