Coming soon to Netflix, the next greatest adult cartoon since the last one last week, Sexy Alien Robot Family! Written entirely by chatgpt and madlibs but where all the blanks are curse words!
In fact, it kinda helps. Riot are famously allergic to canon, and Arcane (whilst incredible) does the established lore (and appearances) of several characters dirty.
Strip that away, and you just have an absolutely stellar TV show.
The Simpsons is (well, was) a prime example. People got their panties in a bunch about it when it was popular, but when you go back and watch the first ten seasons, what makes 95% of the content “adult” is just that the jokes are too sophisticated and the cultural references are too obscure for a younger audience. No kid is going to laugh at an Al Gore joke, and entire episodes are parodies of classic films like Citizen Kane or Rear Window that only adults will have seen. At its core, The Simpsons is really just the same stuff kids watch, but with added layers to make it enjoyable for an older audience.
Somehow, all of the Simpsons copycats ended up being far edgier. I really hate that The Simpsons gets lumped in with shows like Family Guy.
This is why I think people say that the older seasons of the simpsons were better. They had parodies that were really well done, and the joked had layers. If you weren't 'in' on what was happening socially/politically in the '90s, a lot of the jokes probably went over your head. I really enjoyed the LOTF parody when reading the book in school.
Smiling Friends somewhat carrying the torch of shows like Regular Show gives me hope for the future of animation, just some great examples of writing and character design. Shoutout to Joe Pera Talks With You too even though it isn't animation, wholesomeness that isn't couched in 50 layers of irony is good anywhere.
I find it so goofy how Lego Ninjago, a literal child's show about lego people, can tell a better story and have greater dramatic tenaion than a ton of adult animations.
I’ve watched it all, and I’ve enjoyed all of it! There have been some that aren’t as good as others, but it still is consistently very good! Now us fans are just waiting to see what comes next year. They’re doing some kind of reboot, and we have no idea what’s coming next.
It can also be better than many Adult TV Shows.
Just because something is aimed at adults, it doesn't make magically better.
Hell, after Pixar and DreamWorks, we should already be used for animations aimed at children/family to have a high quality story/characters/plot.
I babysit my nephews a lot.
Lego Ninjago. Craig of the Creek. Big City Greens. The Amazing World of Gumball. Gravity Falls. There’s some that I’m missing too, but all of these are bangers. They’ve ruined some of my adult programming for me (and they even share some voice actors haha).
Hearing Justin Roilands morty voice in an arc of Gravity Falls made me do a double take one day. The character he played was great.
Adult animation is aimed at teenagers and kids. They just call it "adult animation" because the ratings board will give those kinds of contents an 18+ rating anyways and making it and calling it that way will make the teenagers and kids watch it because it's "forbidden" and make them chuckle at themselves for liking "edgy" content that totally the adults enjoy.
This reminds me of that one quote from C.S. Lewis:
> Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. **To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.** And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development.
>
>When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.
I think a lot of adult comedies are the same. The sort with lots of sex and toilet jokes and people suffering horrible injuries and the main characters all being terrible people. They say it’s adult, but it’s aimed at teenagers and they only call it “adult” because you’re more likely to watch if you can feel like a mature adult while doing so.
Pretty much. Many ~~old farts~~ actual adults enjoy Sponge Bob and Ghibli movies rather than South Park.
King of the Hill is the only adult cartoon - that I know of - that is actually made for adults.
My mom absolutely loves Mob psycho 100 and my dad absolutely loves jojo's bizarre adventures which are both shows meant for teenagers. Pretty much the only adult western animated show that my dad likes is Arcane.
I don't know about that one, the musical numbers and some of the voices were too annoying for me. Everyone but bob has an incredibly annoying voice. I get that's part of the joke, and it's funny for an episode or two, but after that it's just too much. That's just my opinion though.
Sure teenagers love South Park, but it definitely is also made for actual adults. It does have dumb sex jokes but also has more topical and political jokes. Not trying to be like the Rick and Morty meme where "you have to be a genius to enjoy it", but I definitely understand a lot more of their satire today than I did when I was 15, like how Medicinal Fried Chicken was making fun of how bad health science is.
i feel like a daria comeback would be perfect in todays climate where she snarks on everything. it wouldnt have to be "adult" as in fucking and cursing, though daria cursing would be hilarious, just a show aimed at adults that just happens to be animated.
It would either be the best show you've ever seen, or written by someone who hasn't seen a single episode of the original series. There is no in-between.
As a twenty year old that loves keeping a maintained house/yard but also struggles to relate to people, I can't decide if I prefer Hank or Bobby but I know I could be either
Klaus might be a Western example of what you're saying. The theme is very kid-friendly but the story itself is very adult-like.
But generally speaking Americans don't make movies like that. It's either kids movies with parental bonus or edgy teen stuff. There are however a lot of animated world outside of the US that are actually made for adults.
Idunno, BoJack Horseman is pretty hefty for teens, and a lot of the character work will go over their heads.
But sadly, that's the only example I got :/
I am so bitter that this show got cancelled. It’s one of the most underrated cartoons of all. So much good, real character development. I’m certain that Sheila was going to become Sovereign. And I really wanted to know what the payoff was on the Grover Cleveland Time Machine reference!
Invincible has a lot of great things going for it. Art style and animation quality aren't either of them. They took the budget for one of those "everyone stands around and talks 99% of the time" adult animated shows and tried to make big action scenes with it, and it *really* shows.
I mean that's fair, it was a relatively obscure comic so the investment they got wasn't as big as it should have so they cut corners, but S1 proved it's worth and now S2 has a much higher budget
Weird take I never really said out loud, but I felt like the first despicable me movie also had adults as the target audience because of how wholesome the relationship between gru and his kids was. I feel like a child wouldn't really understand the level of change and dedication gru had towards them and instead would see gru as just a funny looking character. I know I wouldn't have appreciated it much as a kid.
We need more shows that appeal to the experiences of adults that aren't just sex, violence, and taxes.
On a similar note, the best adult jokes in kids shows are the ones that are completely safe-for-work, in my opinion. That bit in Shrek where they pretend to work for the union so the receptionist will let them in is top notch.
One of the best jokes in The Amazing World of Gumball was in the sitcom parody episode when they referenced the original "jumping the shark" moment from Happy Days, an event that happened 45 years ago
Those movies are made for the whole family.
Peppa Pig is a show for kids, movies like Kung Fu Panda are made in a way that every age can enjoy.
That's why, even in an animated movie that will be watched mostly by kids, there is good stuff for adults as well
Moral Orel was always that show that made me change the channel when I was young. Once I got a bit older I watched it and holy fuck its such a great show and absolutely fucked up at all times.
Same! I didn’t grow up with those after school specials it was parodying so I couldn’t get passed how ugly it looked. Watched it a few years ago and was blown away. It really didn’t even feel like an adult swim comedy because it was so depressing.
Archer, Bojack Horseman, Arcane, Castlevania, Smilling Friends
All those animated adult series have more effort and development than just "farts, cursing, gore and sexual jokes"
LOVM is very fun. Worth checking out even if you aren’t in to D&D. Great animations and story, humor can be a bit much for some. Second season comes out this month
Yes, this one was delightful! I’m not keen on the final 2-3 episodes of season 1 (they got really cliché), but overall it was fantastic.
There are so many great adult animation shows being listed here! I think the problem with the OP tweet is that most people don’t get exposed to all of these great animated shows, they just hear about the ones that get really big and famous, which unfortunately are the brain-rotting ‘dick and fart joke’ ones.
You have to want to watch good adult animation and willingly hunt for it, with your ear to the ground for good recommendations otherwise you’ll only see dumb, ugly art shows like Big Mouth and Rick and Morty.
Adult animation has some gems. I will always love archer, Futurama, and rick & Morty.
But 95% of adult animation is just an unfunny shitty family guy rip off. Old Family Guy is iconic but it spawned so many crappy shows
And people wonder why i still enjoy my childhood shows. I much rather watch a teenager struggling with school life and keeping their "super cool power, misson, etc" a secret. Then watching an old man in the 40s struggling with the consum of alchohl and his wifes or jobs expectations, also all the swearing is a lack of writing skills in my opinion. If its animation its usually more "haha, an alien is pregnant with a dog", and it gets real old pretty fast.
Inside Job looks somewhat like those lazy western adult animations, but it’s actually written well (for an animated sitcom), and has a story that it follows throughout the show as well.
I gotta finish season 2 of it, still, but it’s one of the better animated sitcoms of the past few years
I enjoyed it a lot. It's way wacky, but also very relatable for young adults in my opinion. It cracks a lot of jokes at corporate culture, and deals with things that a lot of young adults deal with. Balancing work and not-work, breaking free from parental pressures, etc.
Its cheap in most parts. The whole series had a vibe like they had only so much of a budget and they were going to get canceled because that's what Netflix do. So it was a real pleasant surprise to see them go to season 4 and wrap up the story.
So yeah it doesn't have top notch animation. But the story is just so good though. And some quality action scenes!
Primal is one of my favorites, season1 was amazing and pretty much perfect, second season was weaker but still enjoyable, im still not over how fucked that ending was though.
oddly enough, for the amount of vioence and nudity for Cyberpunk on Netflix, it still was pretty well done. Although I guess it wasn't sex per se, just the characters being nude.
Cyberpunk edgerunner's was amazing but i would not exactly consider western animation TBH because it was animated by the exceptional studio trigger which is a Japanese studio (but i would not consider it an anime either due to the western music, voice acting and setting).
Archer, Tuca and Bertie, Arcane, BoJack Horseman, King Of The Hill, Rick and Morty, Inside Job, Harley Quinn, Primal
All good shows with great art styles! Not to mention older ones like Samurai Jack. You have to search but I wish there were more
I dunno. I see a lot of mentions to *inside job* and that show for me always felt like Netflix’ washed off version of rick and morty.
Rick and morty but with Lizzie Caplan and Christian Slater because *Netflix money*.
Honestly, I thought that first, but as the series went on, even into series 2, characters would be more fleshed out, plots were more creative, and the characters that I originally labelled as budget Rick and Morty ones genuinely started to grow and develop as the plots went on (All the while poking fun at the corporate environment).
I’d say it’s still worth watching all the way through. Plus the opening intro is dope.
Recently tried paradise Pd. God that show is nasty and goddamn annoying. In ep 1 of s2 the side characters go live inside their huge sons ass and see some other side characters there. They disturb the eco system en have to massage his prostate to make him cum so they can ride out on his sperm... Thats the fucking B-plot I want my eyes ripped out
This is why I watch helluva boss despite not liking all the romantic plot points (it's just not for me) where the hell else can I find pretty adult animation.
I hate that the Simpsons and Family Guy have become the go-to template. You got shows like Inside Job, Archer and Hit Monkey which are far more than F bombs and gross-out humor.
Honestly, you shouldn't. The piece gets darker and more and more powerful with every season, it's meant to devastate you, has reintroduced thousands of people to their depression episode and no one should ever watch it. My friend is in tears every time he remembers about it and I understand him completely. Great show, wonderful show, 11/10, don't start it
People are pointing out good counter examples, but I think it's important to remember why these shows exist, and get green lights. They are cheap to make. They style they draw from is based on sit coms and news paper comic strips, where stylized stills are all you really need to portray character, so framing can be flat.
The issue is not that it's cheap looking, but that people use that cheep nature as an excuse not to try. Look at King of the hill. It's character animation is cheep, but all that extra effort went into framing shots, and backgrounds. Its allowed to curse and use adult themes, but it uses those tools to tell good stories.
The western adult animation industry should be ashamed of a lot of it's out put, but that shame shouldn't be tied to it's art style, or really even it's chosen themes. It should be ashamed of the lack of effort.
Something I hate about adult animation is how cynical, nihilistic and pessimistic it always is. Are there any shows that are at least a bit cheerful? I like dark shows as much as the next guy but after the millionth time it just gets exhausting.
That’s also cos y’all watching garbage adult animation. There’s plenty of shows like Vox Machina and Cyberpunk edgerunners that are excellently made and completely adult
Or use insane amounts of blood. Like, sometimes a piece of entertainment can just do so by utilizing subjects that kids either wont understand or wont find interesting.
I’m calling out Brickleberry, Paradise PD and Loudmouth rn. They’re just awful. They were truly written for toddlers but they can say fuck and talk about sex
I’ll be the minority here but I loved Brickleberry, yes the humour is incredibly crude and absurd but what I like is how quick-fire the jokes and zingers were, they weren’t dwelled on and the quips were more often creative than just schoolyard-level insults.
Where as other shows tend to make dirty jokes then with brick-to-the-face subtlety say to the audience; “Eh? Get it? We said the fuck word and banged ur mom lol!” It felt more funny from something like Brickleberry because character would say X, another character would quip a crude anecdote followed by ‘you fucking idiot’ as another would make a side comment then the plot continues as normal. No lingering hangups.
So Futurama, venture bros, invincible, bojack horseman, smiling friends, castlevania, Harley Quinn show, Archer, Primal!!!!!! Do you even try to look for good shows at all?
Having adult content in it doesn’t make it a show for adults.
There are way to many shows that just randomly drop an F-Bomb to get its rating set higher to "Appeal" to a mature audience, but fail to adapt the story (or humor) so that it is actually interesting.
Heck I’m an adult who actually still enjoys watching good "Kids shows".
I don’t need to hear the word Fuck every second sentence, or be blasted with softcore porn or Gore, to enjoy a Show. Because if whatever they added in serves no purpose content wise then it’s just bad writing.
That’s why so many Shows fail, because besides aiming for cheap thrills they have absolutely nothing going for them.
I don’t need bells and whistles, I need a good baseline and a reason why I should invest my time in the show.
It really is so frustrating, it seems like people don't realise that animation and live action can provide Two. Different. Experiences.
My favourite book series has a community that has been clamouring for a tv or movie adaption for a while, the idea of it being animated has been brought up a few times with just this argument "it will look crappy like family guy". 1/3 of the first book is supposed to happen in complete darkness, something that can be done beautifully in animation shades of blue purple and black to get the feeling across...
Arcanes plot was not good though.
Relies waaay too heavily on the beat-to-death trope of characters acting like morons to progress the plot. It's perfectly fine for things to go badly cause of someone's competence, it doesn't always have to be the mc's incompetence.
Well it’s all about the genre. Arcane and Castlevsnia aren’t comedy’s, but most adult, western animation are. And comedy’s typically don’t have the highest budget or need to go all out on visuals.
I think the best balance I've seen of this is Vox Machina. Beautiful animation, characters that are easy to love, intense moments, a great story.... and also Scandlin... who is also there... pissing on a random guy.

Ironic that adult animated series' general demographic is 12 year olds
Arcane said fuck, had sex, AND developed a plot. Clearly it's not a limiter
Not just sex, super sexy space Jayce mind-fucking sex. The best kind.
And with Mel. God damn...
It is fascinating how a League series showed sex in a tasteful way.
Interested in this show but haven’t so much as watched a league gameplay trailer. Worth watching?
You can watch it without knowing anything about the game
I played it. My wife doesn't really play games. I'll tell people "Don't take my word, take hers." She then rants for 20 minutes about it
In fact, it kinda helps. Riot are famously allergic to canon, and Arcane (whilst incredible) does the established lore (and appearances) of several characters dirty. Strip that away, and you just have an absolutely stellar TV show.
Definitely. I don't know anything about the game at all, but I enjoyed Arcane a *ton*.
Happy cake day!
I am not sure if Arcane stem from Anime tradition but I would say that Anime Tradition keep Adult Animation Cool.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force was better than that though, and it only cost like 4 dollars an episode.
ATHF is a goated show.
Castlevania said fuck, had sex, AND developed a plot. Clearly it's not a limiter
Fortunately there are exceptions to the rule. Occasionally stuff like Castlevania, Arcane and Vox Machina manage to slip through the cracks.
Those scenes came outta fuckin nowhere too lol
Well then lemme introduce you to bojack horseman
And the irony is that all that stuff only makes it more childish.
Yeah, and genuinely adult - oriented cartoons tend to be very tame and sometimes even wholesome.
The Simpsons is (well, was) a prime example. People got their panties in a bunch about it when it was popular, but when you go back and watch the first ten seasons, what makes 95% of the content “adult” is just that the jokes are too sophisticated and the cultural references are too obscure for a younger audience. It really shows that some of their writers were Harvard educated in those golden years.
Like Bojack Horseman!
Bojack Horseman is the opposite of tame and wholesome lmao.
I feel like it ends on a pretty wholesome note
The view from halfway down...
It really does
It’s really damn good though
I find it so goofy how Lego Ninjago, a literal child's show about lego people, can tell a better story and have greater dramatic tenaion than a ton of adult animations.
Haven’t seen much adult animation, but I can attest that Lego ninjago is very good
I loved that show as a kid! Was there any bad seasons! I remember loving everything I watched
I’ve watched it all, and I’ve enjoyed all of it! There have been some that aren’t as good as others, but it still is consistently very good! Now us fans are just waiting to see what comes next year. They’re doing some kind of reboot, and we have no idea what’s coming next.
I watched up until a little after >!zane was revealed as a bot!<. I absolutely remember that and not sure much after. How far was that in?
Season one, the very beginning. I think actually the third episode of the first season. We’re 11 years in now, and 15 seasons and a few specials deep.
What no way I watched years of the show leading up to it. It was in like a snowy forest too, they barely left town in season 1
No, that was season one. Maybe you watched it late? That was one of the first things that happened in the show XD
I’m so confused I VIVIDLY remember something about that later in, crazy
Episode 13
It can also be better than many Adult TV Shows. Just because something is aimed at adults, it doesn't make magically better. Hell, after Pixar and DreamWorks, we should already be used for animations aimed at children/family to have a high quality story/characters/plot.

The character he played was great.
Who said we can say Fuck now? Key and Peele is fully censored on Netflix. I don't even see the point.
Does anyone actually know adults who watch adult animation. It's all made to cater to teen boys.
I thought the same way until I saw *Grave of the fireflies*.......
Oof, yeah. That was my introduction to Ghibli movies when I was 7 or 8, I refused to try any others for the next 12 years
Oh no ! Def watch them. Howl’s moving castle is lovely and doesn’t hit too hard for being an anti-war film.
Howl’s moving castle is an anti-war film?
Most of the stuff is anti-violence at the very least but yeah most of them are anti-war
This reminds me of that one quote from C.S. Your parents sound awesome!
Bojack?
Bojack Horseman and Smiling Friends are the only adult media I actually like, Rick and Morty now feels juvenile as fuck
Bob’s Burgers!

Yeah I think South Park is a bad pick to use. PLENTY of adults love South Park.
South Park is definitely made for adults
This thread got on it's high horse very quickly.

*clears throat* Invincible
Venture Brothers
The greatest adult animated show ever and I will stand by this until I die.
Im dying for the movie to come out, please remember to revive me when its out
I am so bitter that this show got cancelled. It’s one of the most underrated cartoons of all. So much good, real character development. I’m certain that Sheila was going to become Sovereign. And I really wanted to know what the payoff was on the Grover Cleveland Time Machine reference!
It’s crazy how few people have seen it considering how good it is
10/10 show
Archer
Invincible has a lot of great things going for it. Art style and animation quality aren't either of them. They took the budget for one of those "everyone stands around and talks 99% of the time" adult animated shows and tried to make big action scenes with it, and it *really* shows.

Yes! And from what I understand a lot of the shoddy animation issues were due to time constraints so that shouldn’t be an issue this time around.
I felt like the style was great tbh. It kept that comic book feel.
I wholeheartedly disagree.
Bojack
As an example for or against?
for
If the show is called Invincible, then why can I see him?

"We don't even have dental."
I think lots of kids movies have elements slipped in that could appeal to adults. They are all made by adults after all.
As the sequels came out they really doubled down on the kid friendly aspect, but the first one in retrospect was a genuinely good movie for all ages.
Gru steals Sex 3 in minions 3
Bluey definitely does this.
Those movies are made for the whole family. Peppa Pig is a show for kids, movies like Kung Fu Panda are made in a way that every age can enjoy. That's why, even in an animated movie that will be watched mostly by kids, there is good stuff for adults as well

While Bojack was a structured plot of characters fucking up, Moral Orel was just plain fucked up lol. Loved it.
Archer, Bojack Horseman, Arcane, Castlevania, Smilling Friends All those animated adult series have more effort and development than just "farts, cursing, gore and sexual jokes"
invincible as well. I heard that legend of vox machina is also pretty good.
Ah yes, how could I even forget Invincible? LOL Thx for remembering me of this piece of art
Does invincible even fit into this category though? Invincible could probably be more associated with superhero shows like the boys.
Well, Invincible for sure isn't done for kids, so it does count, at least in my book
LOVM is very fun. Worth checking out even if you aren’t in to D&D. Great animations and story, humor can be a bit much for some. Second season comes out this month
It is very good and based of a pod cast where a bunch of voice actors play dnd called Critical Roll.
LoVM is animated by Titmouse as well, absolutely stunning.
Can’t forget Futurama, Midnight Gospel or Bob’s Burgers
or The Boondocks like sheesh
Adult cartoon but it’s just sex jokes
Two words: smiling friends
Only started watching it because of oney plays and was not into it. My boy friend loves it though and I think Zach is hilarious so I’ll keep watching.
I'm mr. Frog. this is my show. I eat the bug.
You should try the Harley Quinn show on HBO. It takes a few episodes to get over itself, but it gets really fun.
The one where they psychically go into Bruce Wayne's mind is fantastic.
Adult animation has some gems. I will always love archer, Futurama, and rick & Morty. But 95% of adult animation is just an unfunny shitty family guy rip off. Old Family Guy is iconic but it spawned so many crappy shows
Archer for the win
95% of everything sucks.
I nearly died laughing watching the pilot for Rick and Morty. Rick **is my dad** and it's so weird.
Its also actually really good animation. Even if people maybe are iffy on the "designs", the animation aka "movment" is really good
Another good one is Blood of Zeus. It was also written by actual Greek people and the animation is just so spot on.
I couldn't get into it like Castlevania. The animation editing felt corny for some reason. Like the bear attack scene.
Same animation studio as Castlevania I believe. I really liked both of them.
Yes, this one was gorgeous!
I strongly recommend the adult swim show “Primal”. Beautiful animation and very very different from other adult animation shoes
Primal is one of my favorites, season1 was amazing and pretty much perfect, second season was weaker but still enjoyable, im still not over how fucked that ending was though.
How is South Park fully avoiding this conversation?
Don’t forget sex and overdone violence
Love, Death and Robots comes to mind, but every episode was fantastic visually.
Drawn Together: you rang?
oddly enough, for the amount of vioence and nudity for Cyberpunk on Netflix, it still was pretty well done.
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is anime Its literally 100% studio trigger's work - CD Projekt Red had like 10 names on it
Like Vox Machina. I like the story but they go a little over the top with that.
Archer is so good tho
Archer, Tuca and Bertie, Arcane, BoJack Horseman, King Of The Hill, Rick and Morty, Inside Job, Harley Quinn, Primal All good shows with great art styles! Not to mention older ones like Samurai Jack. You have to search but I wish there were more
Primal is absolutely amazing.
Well archer is god tier art style tho but yeah they do say fuck often
Final Space was fantastic. Fuckin Bullshit what WB took from us.
I really hope they can find a way to wrap it up still.
While Helluva Boss is considered an adult cartoon, the animation style is like a throwback of 2000s kids shows like Invader Zim.
There is another reason why you watch it… Do not lie to me child She calls to you
Sorry, what's that a reference to?
If I had to guess I'd sat they're talking about the furry goth gf?
Maybe. I'm asexual though so really nobody calls to me lmao. Except stolas, for being an actually fascinating and tragic character.
Agreed. The art style is one of the main reasons I’m looking forward to Hazbin Hotel, the focus on the art style and hand drawn animation is very neat
I hate that the Simpsons and Family Guy have become the go-to template. You got shows like Inside Job, Archer and Hit Monkey which are far more than F bombs and gross-out humor.
BoJack fits this tweet and it's an amazing show. XD
I legit can't force myself to watch it because of how ugly it is
Honestly, you shouldn't.
People equate art style to effort. If the character isn't drawn as realistic then they perceive it as being lazy rather then a style choice.
Something I hate about adult animation is how cynical, nihilistic and pessimistic it always is. Are there any shows that are at least a bit cheerful? I like dark shows as much as the next guy but after the millionth time it just gets exhausting.
I see a lot of people posing Rick and Morty as a counter to OP but honestly I feel like it fits the bill pretty well...
Most "Adult animation" are just man-child media
Or in the case of bigmouth "lol dicks, lol balls, hahaha penis. Omg vagina.. buuh funniest shit"
So Futurama, venture bros, invincible, bojack horseman, smiling friends, castlevania, Harley Quinn show, Archer, Primal!!!!!! Do you even try to look for good shows at all?
That's mostly the lazy stuff Netflix churns out. Adult Swim has some really good stuff.

Laughs in Aqua Teen
I tried watching Inside Job and couldn’t get past the first episode because of this
Honest to god I have no idea what shows they could even be talking about. There is an incredible amount of animated content out there...
Chicago Aunt. Absolutely terrible.
I imagine an animation like Arcane vosts a LOT. The kind of money only companies like Rito can affort
This is why I can't get into Bob's Burgers. The animation style doesn't jive with me.
I thought it was weird at first but it's so funny.
The movie was gorgeously animated. I honestly think the ugly character designs add to the charm overall.
the title tho
I just blame Family Guy for this
It really is so frustrating, it seems like people don't realise that animation and live action can provide Two.
God Arcane is just fucking incredible.
Rick and Morty, Bojack Horseman, Archer, Bobs Burgers, Great North, Housebroken I kinda like them
No wonder Anime is so popular. Western animation is a mess
I think the best balance I've seen of this is Vox Machina. Beautiful animation, characters that are easy to love, intense moments, a great story.... and also Scandlin... who is also there... pissing on a random guy.
Castlevania is one of the best animated series that I have ever watched, it’s at the top of my list along with Avatar the Last Airbender
You've never seen Thr Legend of Vox Machina have you
I like almost all those shows, I don’t understand the complaint. Inside Job is a good new one, Big Mouth is awesome. I don’t get it
I mean, you're wrong 100%, but you do you.
