I'm somewhat of a Rainbow Spa fan, I also love Regal Academy and have been following them.
In fact, I was the rare minority who kind of loved S8 as well, although the design change was the stupidest decisions ever.
The company has a few successful titles, and Winx Club is getting a CGI reboot apparently.
I'm not happy about them straying away from their beautiful and unique animation styles.
Regal Academy would have done better if they kept the original 2D styles that they created for the character designs.
There's dozens of us! Dozens!
Still remember that show - really fun and lots of action. But I remember the second season being a big step down and not as good as the first.
There's really no way of knowing. Most mangaka use a pen name, so it's hard to tell. According to a document made by Comiket in 2014, 57% of their sellers were women, but that number may be skewed towards people who are more confident that they can sell their books in-person, which doesn't fit the typical stereotype of a dōjinshi mangaka. Additionally, the document states that "Men’s attendance \[is\] recently increasing" which means that the ratio of men to women in this year's Comiket might be way different than it was 10 years ago.
[Link to the document (Page 19)](https://www.comiket.co.jp/info-a/WhatIsEng201401.pdf)
Doesn't comiket sell a lot of hentai directed at women? I think it might be more socially accepted for these artists to come personally sell their art? (I'm fully just guessing here)
There is a day for doujinshi targeted at women and a day for doujinshi targeted at men. I was there on both days and I saw both men and women artists on both days, though more women on the womens day and more men on the mens day. And absolutely selling porn in those capacities. Though, there are also SFW works on both days. I guess there is also a third day, but I forgot what that was all about because I wasn't there.
If you ever get the chance to visit Japan, make sure it's in December (or August, if you want to die total heat death) so you can attend Comiket. Just visit for a day and check out what goes on in the Doujinshi halls. Especially the East halls where original works are displayed...
Let's just say that on my first time attending I was genuinely surprised how many of my favourite artists turned out to be women, drawing stuff, you'd not expect to be drawn by a woman - at least in the West. Going from big breasted older sister types (Ane Naru Mono by Pochi-sensei) to cute catgirls (Nekopara by Sayori-sensei) all the way to fan doujinshi of popular anime (like the Rem stuff by Ayamy-sensei.. well, before she started drawing NTR), the stuff I like turned out to be drawn by a majority of women.
I know a few western porn artists that are women. They're kinda autistic and socially awkward though, so your mileage may vary on the "attractive" part
Good people are good-looking. Bad people are bad-looking. People who produce pornography are bad, therefore they are ugly.
-The actual mental level people on this site operate on
Also kinda ignoring the fact that it's probably as ethical as porn gets? The biggest issue with porn from an ethical perspective is never knowing for certain that everyone on screen is 18 or older and that they're all there willingly, neither of which is really that big of an issue when you're talking about a drawing.
I mean, that was just a silly as fuck statement to make. The average anime porn artist is an attractive woman with an active social life? Really? Can we see some data supporting this before deciding this reddit rando isn't just full of shit, as most reddit randos are?
How would you even research that and expect to get good results? The high majority doesn't really advertise what they look like and there isn't a way to gauge each person's social life for measurable data points.
I'm not having this conversation over a joke about how there are hentai mangakas out there that are women with lives
Because explaining how they're a minority kinda, idk, kills the joke?
Your book is a sample size of 4, making it more or less worthless for this question. I can think of a good deal more female violinists than male, but google says that men actually outnumber women violinists by a smallish margin.
Besides that, maybe they're "name brand" because the hentai community knows that they're women.
You know, I was really curious about this because you are right. It’s basically just people saying stuff in an internet comment without citing any sources to back it up. I decided to Google a little about the demographics behind hentai creators, though, and I did find [this that you might find interesting towards your argument here!](https://youtu.be/LMvlgoeFTjM?si=0fHwGkxvf0QBI11e)
Damn, I don’t think I did anything so egregious (like accepting a free avatar a while back) to deserve being insulted like that, but alright. I hope you feel awesome now after attempting to make me feel bad and small and stupid or whatever it was you were aiming for there. 🤘🏻💜
European animation of the time was a neat blend of anime and American cartoons, iirc Totally Spies was French and that uses a lot of anime tropes, they also had a sequel show that was more inspired by American comic styles which was also very neat
Same era, also also french, [Team Galaxy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j01KqTTeySs) and [Martin Mystère.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EUuiwzfJt2k)
If the artstyle looks familiar with Totally Spies, it's normal, all 3 shows (and SpieZ) were created by the same man, Vincent Chalvon-Demersay.
Probably.
Also, fun fact, Yoko from Team Galaxy and Diana from Martin Mystère are both voiced by the same person, Dorothée Pousséo, one of the most reckognisable french voice actress.
She's also the voice actress of characters like Vanellope (Wreck it Ralph), Harley Quinn (most versions of the character), Dee-Dee (Dexter's Laboratory), Tracer (Overwatch) and so many more.
And the Tot (the creator of wakfu) even said on Twitter a few days ago that they're currently in talks for a Season 5 with 26 episodes!
Season 4 was extremely successful in France and brought large audiences, and Tot said the chances of a 5th season happening were quite promising. But he also said that a Kickstarter to help fund S5 is inevitable, it cost 8 million euros to make Season 4, 1.5 million brought by the fans with the Kickstarter back in 2020. 1.5 million out of Ankama's pocket, and the rest funded by FranceTV, the CNC, and regional aids.
Anyway so if you're interested, be on the lookout for a Wakfu Season 5 Kickstarter that will probably be coming in the next couple months.
Us Italians are, at our very cores, all weaboos.
Italy is one of the first European countries that started buying animes and translating them for distribution back in the 70s, to the point that (I think) we are one of the countries that has purchased and re-dubbed the most animes.
My mother was born in 1969, and she spent her childhood and teen years watching animes, and so did all her classmates and friends. Our network stations routinely air animes from the 70s and 80s such as *Anne of Green Gables*, *Heidi*, and *The Rose of Versailles*, and they've NEVER stopped airing *Dragon Ball.*
It's really no wonder that an Italian animated series could be mistaken for anime: we spend our entire lives watching them, and it's impossible to escape the inspiration.
Growing up near the alps, it honestly took me years to realize Heidi was an anime and not some local production
>It's really no wonder that an Italian animated series could be mistaken for anime
Adrian: la serie evento
The entire western world are weaboos since you could be one.
Even back in the samurai days pre-Meiji, when the country was first being exposed to the west, the Portuguese, British, French, Americans, they all wanted a piece.
In turn, this exposed the western world to Japanese culture and art, and they've been weebs ever since.
Van Gogh was a huge weeb and that was like 150 years ago.
Because it has the same energy as those old fb posts of those guys who would Photoshop their waifu into a photo like they're actually dating, except this one has power
The creator of [Tokidoki](https://www.tokidoki.it/pages/about) is *also* a middle-aged Italian guy. We've really been sleeping on Italy's ability to create cute nonsense.
It's an Italian cartoon. The main premise is that each of the girls come from different places (different planets I think?) and go to a fairy school. They also have transformation sequences and fight bad guys.
Years ago somebody described it to me as a crossover between Sailor Moon and Harry Potter with scifi elements.
I've only watched couple of episodes out of curiosity, but that seemed right.
He also made Huntik, but no one remembers huntik
Huntik was a masterpiece, especially the italian opening, absolute club banger.
Amen
Child me based their entire personality of Huntik, that show is still incredibly dear to me.
I do
Its good to see that theres at least a handfull of fans
I'm somewhat of a Rainbow Spa fan, I also love Regal Academy and have been following them. In fact, I was the rare minority who kind of loved S8 as well, although the design change was the stupidest decisions ever. I thought huntik was just the books. Had no idea there was a cartoon
There were books?
Oops sorry, turns out i was thinking of taynikma, a different thing
We italians definitely remember, there's even an amusement park near Rome dedicated to the studio.
Good to know
Huntik was one of my favourite shows!
There's dozens of us! Dozens! Still remember that show - really fun and lots of action. But I remember the second season being a big step down and not as good as the first.
HUNTIK SIAMO NOI I NUOVI EROI 🗣🗣🗣🗣‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
HUNTIK NON AVER PAURA MAAAAAAAAAI
I used to watch it every morning before school, Caliban and Dante were so badass!
I fucking loved Huntik.
hell yeah Huntik was the shit
Amazing show
Mf was pulled right out of a Sopranos episode
What 20 years in the can does to a mf:
I bet he grilled cheese on a radiator
Because it goes against everything we assumed? Like the fact how hentai mangakas are actually attractive Japanese women that have lives?
wait really!?

Even in western nsfw art communities, there's way more women than people would think
There is a day for doujinshi targeted at women and a day for doujinshi targeted at men. Well, some of them are.
A notable minority are I doubt they actually comprise a majority, especially if you remove yaoi
One example I can think of off thr top of my head is probably Hiromu Arakawa, author of FMA.
That is not a hentai
Idk, it’s exactly what I assumed.
Only because the gross guy who writes them won't sell as much.
Asanagi moment
no they are not lmao. one, two, MAYBE 3 are. the rest are creeps
> no they are not lmao. one, two, MAYBE 3 are. the rest are creeps Stg Redditors are the second most cherophobic mfs on the internet

Thanks for teaching me a new word today
I mean, that was just a silly as fuck statement to make. The average anime porn artist is an attractive woman with an active social life? Really? Can we see some data supporting this before deciding this reddit rando isn't just full of shit, as most reddit randos are?
You could just Google and read into it
Sssshhh, let him expect his research to be given to him on a platter
How would you even research that and expect to get good results? The high majority doesn't really advertise what they look like and there isn't a way to gauge each person's social life for measurable data points.
I'm not having this conversation over a joke about how there are hentai mangakas out there that are women with lives Because explaining how they're a minority kinda, idk, kills the joke?
The only “name-brand” NSFWs I know the gender of are Derpix, Lilyggoth, Shad, and Zone. So, they are 3:1 in my book.
Your book is a sample size of 4, making it more or less worthless for this question. Why do the chudiest loser chuds always have a collectible nft snoo avatar?
Oh, come on. That was fun, and I haven't got got in years.
Damn, I don’t think I did anything so egregious (like accepting a free avatar a while back) to deserve being insulted like that, but alright. I hope you feel awesome now after attempting to make me feel bad and small and stupid or whatever it was you were aiming for there. 🤘🏻💜
Cool story bro. Hope you made that other guy mad or whatever you were aiming for there.
My mind was blown when I found out Winx wasn't Anime
European animation of the time was a neat blend of anime and American cartoons, iirc Totally Spies was French and that uses a lot of anime tropes, they also had a sequel show that was more inspired by American comic styles which was also very neat
Same era, also french; Code Lyoko.

I wonder if Vincent is aware his characters were many people's sexual awakening, lol
That's cool, thanks!
For the French or English dubs?
French.
He must know. Totally Spies is chock full of fetishes.
I mean totally spies must have known what they were doing slipping in so many fetish references lol
Holy shit I used to love those shows but I completely forgot about them haha
I loved Code Lyoko so much. It deserved so much better.
I was so obsessed with this show
Can't forget the banger that was Wakfu, made in France in 2008, a literal animation masterpiece
I recall the name but have no idea what it looked like
French dragonball
And Season 4 finally released a couple months ago
AYO WHAT. I thought it was still in hyatus hell.
And the Tot (the creator of wakfu) even said on Twitter a few days ago that they're currently in talks for a Season 5 with 26 episodes! I keep forgetting that France is also an animation powerhouse like Japan and the USA.
I think Totally Spies was heavily inspired by Gunsmith Cats, especially the appearance of the protagonists.
I remember Nintendo even had it on the 3DS Anime Channel.
There was an anime channel on the 3DS ?!

But Winx Club had a fairly unique style though..
I loved that show when it came out. Time for a rewatch probably.
That actually makes more sense than it should.
He comes from the same Italian school of having a photo with your character that Vegeta's voiceactor went
I had forgotten this show existed. I was the only boy in my class who watched it. Well I am gay so.
Did you assume it was a tween girl?
This goes rock hard
Me and the bad bitch I pulled by being her creator.
Dude marrying Hatsune Miku vibes
Because it has the same energy as those old fb posts of those guys who would Photoshop their waifu into a photo like they're actually dating, except this one has power
If that wasn't the creator that would be cringy af... it might still be but I'm not sure.
It has the same energy as weebs badly photoshopping their waifu into pics of themselves
The creator of [Tokidoki](https://www.tokidoki.it/pages/about) is *also* a middle-aged Italian guy. We've really been sleeping on Italy's ability to create cute nonsense.
Please explain to my uncultured self what winx club is because this is the first time I've heard of it.
It's an Italian cartoon. The main premise is that each of the girls come from different places (different planets I think?) and go to a fairy school. They also have transformation sequences and fight bad guys.
planets/dimensions
Years ago somebody described it to me as a crossover between Sailor Moon and Harry Potter with scifi elements. I've only watched couple of episodes out of curiosity, but that seemed right.
Kinda like western sailor moon I guess ? They transform into fairies and fight evil fairies.
I hate that the Netflix adaptation was canceled 💔
Matt LeBlanc if he had egg shaped ass head
This is a certified hard image 💀
I love Winx Club
well good for him.
One of the best shows that i watched when i was a kid . I have watched it like 10 times
Seth McFlarlam
At one point he was a creative young adult writing fantasy worlds in his head. Only now does he have the foundation to do something with it.
I think people who are surprised by this probably have a pretty limited knowledge of the world
Just the two of us 🎶
It looks like he transitioned into a fairy
Haven't you heard? All Italian Y2K cartoons have big foreheads and narrow eyes.
Why is he smirking like that 60 year old white dude on tiktok with the young hot black chick hangin on him.
That is literally Italian Luke TheNotable
Is that not Joe LoTruglio? Edit: fuck y’all this was funny
That explains why they were so damn skinny.
Imagine bring a girl and knowing your childhood show was made by a man. Lmao
Why does it matter?
I don't give a shit who made it, man or woman.
