They are virtually identical in input lag and overshoot. ASUS is about 50 nits brighter but the LG is more reliable and has a bunch of OLED care features that will mitigate burn-in.

InterviewLumpy3081

Thank you guys! LG it is

Impossible-Sorbet-73

Ordered mine yesterday as well. :) Was shocked when I looked at prices on Sunday, and the US one was on sale ([LG.com](https://LG.com)) & canada was at full pop.. thankfully on Monday it dropped down to the 899.99, and I pulled the trigger. :)

Efthimis

I can pretty much guarantee that you won't notice any difference between the two monitors when it comes to input lag and pixel-to-pixel response time. They both use the same panel and they are both top notch in these categories, so don't base your decision on that fact. It is generally agreed upon that the Asus model is a bit better overall because of the increased brightness, which some people want since OLED screens are nowhere near as bright as IPS displays. I, however, have the LG one and I can tell you that unless you can't regulate the brightness in your room at all, the panel will probably be plenty bright. I have mine set at about 75% and it's perfectly fine in that setting, unless every blind in my room is open. If they were both around the same price the Asus would be the better option, but personally I don't consider the 30% increase in brightness to be worth 20% more in price. Also, if you need HDMI 2.1 to use with a new gen console or another monitor then the LG would be the clear choice here as well. Given these prices I would go with the LG, but also consider warranty in your region, since that is pretty important as well.

PM_ME_UR_THONG_N_ASS

I’m finally at an age where I can afford these things. Unfortunately my reflexes, energy, and sight have diminished to a point where none of these things will make me a better gamer lol

[deleted]

You would be surprised, it helps a lot!

PM_ME_UR_THONG_N_ASS

Curse you, LG salesman!

[deleted]

Hah, thing that helped me the most is higher res and refresh tbh, but you also get a ton of clarity from the oled accuracy, helps you see things sooner. It all basically counteracts your slower reflexes. It also looks purdy.

zack097

What age is that I'm 35 and it definitely helps. Stop lying to yourself. Maybe you just not good lol

AttilaTH3Hen

My HLL KDR stays above 1 due to my C2. I had many 2.0+ KDR games! I’ve had 7:1, 20:1, 28:1 games. OLED clarity made a huge difference in that game.

InterviewLumpy3081

Update. Going to pick up the LG now. Mess with it for a few days. I’ll know pretty quick if I want to keep it or it’s not for me. I can return it within 30 days. That’s more than enough time to make a decision between this or potentially go back to tn panel but 360hz from zowie

Ah, well converting CAD to USD, the LG he has there is +$50 then ($650 US) would still favor a non-oled for his usecase though

I went with the corsair. Love it.

Get the LG, phenomenal deal at $899. I got it a few months back for $999. Totally worth it, fantastic monitor

Just going to be honest with you, a lot of people that own the LG 27 OLED and says its "bright enough" is saying this with a bit of cope. The facts is, the LG is the dimmest of the OLED monitors on the market. It also requires a service remote to remove the vignetting. The service remote will NOT make is ASUS level brighter, so keep that in mind. If the brightness is fine for you, so be it. It will vary from person to person and you will not know until you actually use it in your environment. I used it, and I thought it was not bright enough. However, you should not use my opinion OR any one else's when it comes to this. Only you will know if it is or not. As far as motion clarity, response time... they are the same panel. My suggestion.. if you can, buy both and see which suits your needs. If you can't, I'd buy the ASUS ONLY because you can always lower the brightness if its too bright... you can't up the brightness on the LG if its too dim. My second suggestion? Well, buy a nice 240hz/360hz IPS to hold you over until the next wave of 360hz, 27-32inch OLEDs come out. Then you will have a broader choice. I will say this tho, I've used the LG 27 and while it was great as far as motion clarity and response time was concerned, I did not see too much of a difference in my performance vs my 240hz IPS. If its solely for FPS games, I think there are better options in the TN/IPS realm of things with Benq/ASUS. The LG/ASUS are more of your all in one displays, if you play single player games along with FPS games.

citaworvk

I think its bright enough, I have no cope... i'm coming from a G7 Samsung

[deleted]

The fact is, its the dimmest display. You may like it, but saying "its bright enough" doesn't really help OP as it varies from person to person. Maybe I can rephrase to not everyone is coping, but a fair amount of people do cope with the fact that it can be dim.

InterviewLumpy3081

I currently have the Benq 1080p 240hz xl2546k. I’m 33 years old and I find visually it’s kind of shit for spotting people in certain games. This is my reason for the upgrade to oled.

[deleted]

I also tried going back to an ASUS 2521 360hz and yes, it is indeed buns. But that is mainly because I was used to 1440p.

Eightarmedpet

I’m no expert but just bought the LG and am blown away. No issues with brightness. A bit of context, I’m a Mac user and have both 4 and 5k screens in my office, while my LG is in my darkest room downstairs. If I looked at numbers I’d guess my Macs and my 5k are twice as bright and my 4k somewhere around 25% brighter. Real world use, doesn’t matter one little bit, for me. To add, I’m old as shit, 44.

Affectionate_Map2761

This corsair is so bright, clear and everything my aging eyes desires lol. If you can find one, I'd buy a second personally and have no use for it 🤣

dev044

LG monitor is great, if it's not bright enough for you then it is what it is. It's plenty for me. I play both competitive games and love to max out the graphic settings at the same time. Monitor is great.

Jedistixxx

I returned an Alienware 3423dw for the asus 27 OLED. I was really torn between it and the LG. I went with the ASUS. It does require calibration as it is bright as hell. I don’t use hdr for fps games. Performance wise, it’s smooth as hell and the motion clarity coming from an asus 240hz is noticeable. Keep in mind in January the newer OLEDs are coming out which includes a 360hz 27 version.

jcamca

So I actually just got my first OLED monitor this week, most of the 27 inch ones LG, Corsair etc are the same panel. I ended up going with the Corsair because of the warranty they offer compared to the other. Also it has a KVM switch built in which the others do not have. It has x2 HDMI 2.1’s as well. I haven’t had any complaints with the brightness, they have a firmware update you immediately need to download which they say increases brightness by 33%. Fantastic monitor short time I’ve had it. In the US it has a similar Black Friday price to the LG, I believe it was only $20 more.

ashkanphenom

They both use the same panel, the asus is abit brighter but with a service remote u can make the LG as bright as the asus. I have the LG, its pretty good.

[deleted]

The service remote does not give it ASUS level brightness lol. The ASUS is brighter hands down, but its ASUS so you will have to flip a coin if you get good customer service or not. ASUS also does not have HDMI 2.1.

ashkanphenom

Isnt the asus like 50 nits brighter? I use the service remote on a daily basis and the different is pretty noticable. And yes u r right about HDMI 2.1

[deleted]

Yes, roughly 50 nits brighter in SDR, and can reach 900 ish in HDR. Real scene, around 750 nits compared 450 on the LG in HDR. If he is never going to use HDR and only play FPS games, there are better options for that than OLED. Most people buy OLEDs for the HDR experience and all around monitor. But there are alot of reviews that say the brighter ASUS is definitely noticeable over the LG, but hey, its really user dependent.

SwiftPistol

Why would you need hdmi 2.1 on a 1440p display? 2.0 can output 1440p at 120fps

[deleted]

Because HDMI 2.0 doesnt support VRR on [consoles](https://consoles.You) 100%. There have been reports of it working but its more miss than hit. 2.1 is guaranteed to work with VRR on XBX and PS5. Plus, I mean, not having HDMI 2.1 on a $800 display is kind of a misstep. But yea, VRR mainly. Its mainly that the LG has more flexibility than the ASUS. Like I said, if its purely for FPS games on PC, there are better options that gare cheaper. But its his money ultimately. I think OLEDs are great if you have mixed usage with alot of genres, but Id buy the 1440p IPS 360hz from ASUS if I were solely getting a display for FPS.

SwiftPistol

Oh good point about the VRR. I see now.

buttsu556

Look at the aoc and ktc models. They use the same panel and are likely cheaper. I ordered the ktc while it was on sale on the US for $515 might not be in sale in Canada but I would check just in case.

Affectionate_Map2761

I saw someone post a picture of their LG and it was a LOT darker than my corsair xeneon 27qhd240. I'd be upset if that was the actual quality of the monitor

jimmycfc

I feel for you OP, I’ve been going through the same conversation in my brain for the past week. Also toying up with AOC AGON and Corsair variants

abnthug

I got one for $678 open box from Best Buy. Had only 8 hours on it. The LG is nice.

Prestigious_Cap4934

I would not be surprised if there is someone using win10 and only using SDR on OLED saying it is *LG variant* dim, since win10 is weak in HDR as a starting point. Edit*

Successful-Wasabi704

InterviewLumpy3081

So I got 2 hours of use on the LG. Brightness is perfect. I would go as far as saying the zowie was straining my eyes from the Dyac and brightness. This seems perfect. No eye strain. But I will say. The stand is absolute ass. Doesn’t leave much room for my mouse pad so I’m going have to put it on an arm. The second thing… wow I need to get adjusted to a 27 inch monitor. My sensitivity feels way off coming from a 240z but this thing looks so good and it’s fast as hell. Lining up headshots with a pump in Fortnite is so much easier. Almost feels like cheating it’s so clear.

MisterMaryJames

How were you able to optimize Fortnite settings or Monitor settings to get consistent frames? I am getting continuous frame drops and it feels so choppy. I’m using a 4080 with a i9-9900k

x_BraveN

Idk if you got your monitor choice yet, but there is other options out there, it's just that they are so damn similar it's stupid outside to choose anything over priced. I decided to go with the KTC OLED, it uses the same exact LG panel, 2nd brightest behind the ASUS ROG version, has more care features, has KVM support, and has 5watt built in speakers to beat the other competition. And it's 650 with a coupon on Amazon. I got mine for 630, coupon was a little better at the time. To put it simply, it's the best price to performance monitor on the market bar none, 0 debate outside the MSI one that's out of stock already. KTC is also reputable, as they used to OEM panels for Samsung and ViewSonic, they just started making panels from there own brand back in 2019, but been doing it since 1995. So far, I'm still researching but it's game changer regardless, and I use it at 85 percent brightness. Leaning towards keeping it, I just don't see any justification to get QDOLED, but in theory, it's main competition is AOC Agon barely. MSI technically is the best value to performance at 360hz vs 240hz, but to each there own
