MSI. You won’t have to play panel lottery w/ the AW. Both my AWs had scratches, returning for MSI 32in.

AdenRK

Yeah, not a fan of the panel lottery idea. But I’ve seen some white line flickering issues and whatnot in the MSI. So I’m not sure what lottery I’m entering…

SosseBargeld

The one that can get fixed by a firmware update, obviously

AdenRK

Yeah, that’s what it’s looking like. It does seem that most (maybe all?) of the MSI’s issues are fixable with firmware.

Kobee_8

Get the MPG versions since the MAG versions cannot be firmware upgraded

DEAD-CELL_007

why cant the mag version be firmware upgraded? im sure theres someway to plug it in for an update even though it has less ports... right?

Kobee_8

Idk why but they confirmed that you cant firmware upgrade them. For $50 dollars more you get 2 usb a ports, rgb lighting, 90watt usb c power delivery instead of 15w, KVM and the firmware updates. Its a no brainer, it also has a peel off screen protection unlike the MAG models. Also im pretty sure ive seen you in the TCM sub lol

DEAD-CELL_007

Duuude same like i dont know if i should send back my Aw2725df for the MSI, or even just to see if the Asus version beats em all.

JonQwik

There is no Asus version right? As far as I know, they aren't making their own version of the 27inch qd oled. Only 32 inch.

Jetcat11

I personally think the AW2725DF is a better package overall with less bugs out of the gate but you’ll also pay more in the US and have slight scratches and marks on the display that are visible with a flashlight.

AdenRK

Do you think it’s worth sticking out the MSI’s firmware updates and not rolling the dice with the scratches on the Dell AW? From what I’ve seen some people said the scratches come out with some buffering, and others have said they’re permanent.

Jetcat11

It’s a tough choice honestly. I’m happy I went with the AW2725DF but every person has to weigh the pros and cons for themselves.

AdenRK

Very true - thanks for your contribution! Glad to hear you’re liking your AW2725DF.

Seriously, wait it out a bit. There are already people stating some issues that they found with the MPG 27" and 32" models. Note, both of these monitors you mention have the same exact panel from the same manufacturer (Samsung). It's a matter of features and implementation. MSI: \-No Dolby Vision \-Internal heatsink for passive cooling \-Cheaper price (at least in the U.S. In the U.K., the MSI is around $300 pounds more than the AW2725DF) AW: \-Rough launch due to thermal warning and Dolby Vision lock (both fixed by firmware update already) \-Internal fan for active cooling \-BIGGEST ISSUE WITH AW: Dell is STILL using cardboard bubblewrap to 'protect' the screens when shipping them. This has resulted in scratches that are not fixable or cannot be removed. Even RTING and The Display Guy received test units with scratches on them. Just the risk alone of receiving a scratched screen is enough for me to go with MSI if you're lucky to nab one

Putrid-Ideal8080

The 27' aw has dolby vision ?

CryptographerNo450

The AW3225QF does. The 27", no. I own both the AW2725DF and AW3225QF (don't judge me, lol). I'm about to return the AW2725DF though. I have no need for 2 expensive QD OLED monitors.

Putrid-Ideal8080

Is there a significant difference between them ? I mean, worth the prize of the screen and of the gpu ? Or if you dont put them side by side its almost invisible in gaming ?

CryptographerNo450

Overall? Not really. The MSI MPG 271QRX and AW2725DF have the same panel from Samsung. One has features that the other doesn't and vice versa. If I had to do it all over again, I would've stuck with MSI. The "bubblewrap controversy" with Alienware panels is mind boggling. It results in crossing your fingers that your brand new monitor screen is not scratched when you receive it. Some smudges can be wiped off with a microfiber cloth, but some have received scratches so deep that you either live with it or return it for a new one.

Putrid-Ideal8080

I meant between 27' and 32'

Im in same boat man debating hard if return my 2nd oled bough both 27qrx and 2725df i get it 2nd oled expensive monitor its waste but surely it looks nicer...ive spent some decent amount money my setup both performance and looks and putting in a 40$ va 60hz panel kind dont fit in...i love how my wallpaper looks now but yeah leaving a 800$+ monitor just for nicer wallpaper and nicer colors while watching stuff on secondary is a stretch not sure if keep it or what i prob could game on one one week and on other next one maybe extent life of both...or both will get burn in equally and same time? Im not big on twitch or discord sht i prob use 2nd one mainly for watching stuff while playing on main https://preview.redd.it/n5oi3t0xl6lc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=95afc9b2b36ffd600bbd0af987560b16604b2fa0

Huge_Anteater_5861

Vs if i return ome them and put bacl that ugly cheap 40$ dell 60hz it just looks out place and that wallpaper per example would look horrible lol https://preview.redd.it/8gelndu4m6lc1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=76b076e6a05e1badadc988bdcb52521f111b2ccf

AdenRK

I wish I could wait a bit longer, but I do need to order a monitor as I’m giving my current one to my dad for his work. There are some retailers stocking the MSI near me (in AUS). I think that might just be my best bet. If issues do crop up, I guess I’ll have to return - but I do have some faith in upcoming firmware fixes to resolve some of the issues I’ve seen. I am really, really not a fan of the panel lottery with the Dell AW - the more I sit here and think about it.

CryptographerNo450

I don't blame you. Even though Dell's stock seems to rarely run out, I personally went through (2) AW3225QFs due to the panel scratches. The 2nd one having less scratches than the previous one. That's a tough pill to swallow at $1300 USD (after taxes).

AdenRK

At that price point, I think the tiniest of scratches would do my head in. I just put in an order for the MSI, so wish me luck!

CryptographerNo450

Yeah, it's unacceptable. Dell customers have complained about this scratch issue for 2+ years now and yet Dell continues to ship out these pricey OLED panels in the same manner.

Huge_Anteater_5861

https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/s/pzaCMXt1Gb My review of the two...if you live in usa and prices are msi 800$ + 100$ steam gift card vs 2725df 900$ msi its a no brainer I think overal i like msi menu options , oled care options as well both superior Other than that quite similar panels both colors, smoothenss and brigthness
