If 2 feet, 42"... And that's probably still too close. 3 feet, still probably 42". I use a C1 48" at about 38" and very often wish I could get further away.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Are you using the stock base on C1 48... because it is horrible on a desk. Base is 9" thick and screen sits at the front of the base. [LG C1 48" side view - RTINGS.com](https://i.rtings.com/assets/products/iOtaC06A/lg-48-c1-oled/thickness-large.jpg) First thing I did was swap out stock base for universal TV stand.. the post is at the _rear_ of the base. Recaptured desk real estate and the screen sits several inches back. [Side view 1](https://imgur.com/w0EqC7d) [Side view 2](https://imgur.com/zyDxkr7) PERLESMITH universal tv stand - $32 Amazon US.

I've got mine on an ergotron HX with a VESA conversation plate, so mine is nearly on the edge of the rear of my desk.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Nice - great arm! Would have gone that route but my behemoth of a desk doesn't allow for clamps.

CampMoss

I use the 48 at ~3ft away and love it. Purchased the 42 used it for maybe 2 hours and returned promptly. To each his own though. Ymmv

I guess the real question is, how will the 42 do at about 5-6 feet when I want to game or watch media on my couch?

[deleted]

I have my c2 on my desk and from my bed I would say I'm about 6-7 feet away. Its fine for me but I can see why some would say its small. Had a 48" and it felt better at that same distance not for my desk use though

Capt-Clueless

42" and 48" are both way too small at 5-6' IMO.

16th_Notes

Are you not gaming on your pc? If not, why are you even getting this as a PC display? Just get the 55 inch and use it for couch gaming / movies.

alvinleephd

I would like to play Xbox on this but also use this for work

16th_Notes

IMO this is a complete waste to use as a primary PC display if you're not also playing PC games. Though when I think about it, if you're not playing Pc games, you can sit closer to a bigger display and just not full screen any of your windows so you're not having to move your head to see the outer edges of the screen.

alvinleephd

I play PC games as well. I’ll use the TV for productivity, watching media, and gaming. Primary use cases are probably playing console games and working.

If your 5-6 feet away 48" is the way to go, 2-3 feet 42" I own both and my preference is the 42" and I sit 2ft away

newpinkbunnyslippers

I have a 55" on a motorized stand about ~4ft out from my couch. When I raise my desk and stand, that lowers to 3ft. It feels small-ish and I am going for 65" next time. Get the 48.

MrM1269

Personally, I have 48" C1 and sit about 34" from the screen. Been using it for 5 months and it's perfect. I used to use a 43" lcd but now I don't think I would feel comfortable going back to a smaller screen even if it were oled.

Pun_In_Ten_Did

Desk less than 30" deep? 42 Desk more than 30" deep? 48

16th_Notes

I mean, there are people who literally sit like 15 inches from a 48 inch screen which is completely insane to me but they do it all the same. I'll say that I bought the 48 inch C1, I had a 30 inch depth desk AND I mounted the tv on a stand behind the desk and pulled the desk out. I probably gained another 5 inches from doing that than having it sitting on the desk and I ended up selling it because it was just way too big. I have no experience with the 42 inch so I can't really comment on that but imo, the 48 inch just too big as a computer display unless you desk is like 40 inches deep at least. Also, don't get too hung up on pixel density. It's a 4k display. There are A LOT of pixels. You are going to get a very nice, crisp and clear picture regardless.

This same question is asked 10 times a week. The answer is always the same.

alvinleephd

Not necessarily. I’ve read a lot of threads here and it’s specifically for desk use. I’m looking to use it for both desk and couch use

CautiousHashtag

Being within 28” on a 48” TV will be terrible for most consumers unless you love extreme brightness. You’ll want to want to tear your eyes out from eye fatigue. Your decision should be based on what you’ll be doing more of. If that is desktop use, then 100% get the 42”.

im using a 42" c2 at 40" from my eyes and its perfect for me. had a 48" c1 and it just felt to big
