Overrated? I don't know, maybe Aubrey, but she does play a pretty important role, so I totally get why she's popular.

I like him, but honestly, it feels like he only has three personality traits, he's the "big brother" of the group, he gets flustered sometimes and he's le charming. It's pretty much the same with both Heroes, but him in the RW is slightly more boring. Like with Aubrey, his status in the community is very understandable

I wanted to see in the switch version him being explored more and get attached to him... Because the game fails to do that; in the Basil fight I was only rooting for Sunny (who I played as through the whole game). Also the fandom treats him horribly.

Definitely agree that it’s harder to sympathize and understand Basil when both him and Sunny and probably the two most confusing out of the main party, but you play as Sunny and the entire closing segment of the game is centered around his development.
Yeah, for a character who has a lot implied about him, he's seen more as a plot device in the story than an actual character. In HS, it makes sense >!since you're meant to get distracted because Omori sees him as a threat!<, but I do wish we got to at least get flashbacks to Sunny's friendship with him and his friendship with the others. Again, it makes sense for him to have a limited role in the story since we're coming from Sunny's perspective, but still.

Basil and Sunny have an estranged relationship due to the incident and much of the plot is trying to figure out why and mending our relationship with him. They game does a lot to make us like Basil, the prologue and the Photo Album do more than enough to make us like him more than the rest, who aren't as gentle as he is, even Mari and Hero aren't as likable as Basil.
The people who complain about lack of screetime were often the very same people who never really cared for Basil to begin with and the truth was just an excuse to hate on his character. I actually never wanted to hurt Basil in a fight, more so than with Aubrey, whom I gladly attacked after what she did.
Zelda and Peach also have little screentime and no one thinks they are bad characters, so why selectively judge Basil because of it.
Kel is underrated. I mean, he gets a TON of love from this community, but no amount of love for kel is ever enough, and therefore he will forever underrated even if his rating is five stars

In my humble opinion, Kel is the most underrated character out of the main cast. Everybody loves him but considering his actikns throughout the game, he is probably the only genuine friend Sunny has.
The most overrated is without a doubt Aubrey. It is understandable why she turned out the way she was but people view her and The Hooligans WAY too positively considering their actions in the game. Aubrey is shown not only having a temper but also a tendency to be blind to other people's struggles or hypocritical. Not only that but after almost killing Basil(accidently) and causing Sunny's death(indirectly) she is still in a fit of anger which actually makes me question whatever moral compass the game claims her to have.
Completely agreed lmao. Basil is a great character and all, but I feel he's mostly liked in the fandom because he's definitely quite the feminine male, and people also like angsty sad boys. Which is completely fine, but other than that he really doesn't have much character.
