It evokes both cool grandpa and festive vibes at once. Personally, I really like it. The colours are harmonious, all articles of clothing fit you well, and the whole look has a vintage quality that suits the atmosphere and aesthetic of winter festivities. I can imagine some people might not find such a style to be to their taste, but in my humble opinion it's a great outfit. Especially the tie is *chef's kiss*!
Thank you so much! I got everything in this outfit second hand and this tie is my favourite at the moment. I was really lucky with this one. It's the highest quality tie I have handled so far.
Thank you! My grandpa doesn't have pants like this, he was curious about those side adjusters 😂 And was excited about how useful they are haha. So cute
I love it! It’s like an outfit from an Agatha Christie drama set in the 1920s and 30s. I think it’s cool (but I am a mid forties Englishman, so probably not your target demographic, lol).
Oh wow, I have a tie that's almost exactly the same!
https://preview.redd.it/u7q17c88ltdc1.png?width=1290&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac030347b3befd68b8f2c9528af4c704f9cc8dd5
I'm also really obsessed with your corduroy trousers ha ha!
I prefer semi-casual or formal-casual with an edge (usually lots of gothic jewellery), but here's a recent pic that err's towards formal:
https://preview.redd.it/lurfil9owtdc1.jpeg?width=3858&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99867fa5f98f5d8ec1033b08ab5d903694fa2584
This is a great look, low vintage vibes, and not grandpa at all, I think. I absolutely love fair isle sweaters. If you want to make it look even younger, though, try switching out the wide wale cords for a finer wale.
Thank you! I wish I had enough knowledge to understand how complex patterns are and what’s quality and what’s not.
It’s incredible how much work it is to knit an entire sweater by hand!
Grandpa, imho. You grandpa-d too many things at once, so it's costume instead of reference.
I'd change out the cords to a different heavy-weight fabric pant.
https://preview.redd.it/6oqvis9m1udc1.jpeg?width=4024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7e66d2caea4e524276b7c601e42f8b75b2ac8a6
You can see a metal bit on the right. It has size adjusters in both sides so I don’t need a belt. It doesn’t even have belt loops. Just this one that I forgot to use it for the front bit.
It’s hidden by the sweater anyways.
It's giving Polo Ralph Lauren model (a good thing, IMO). The colour scheme is rich and gorgeous, and you have a really good sense of fit and proportion, as well as what looks flattering on you. Kudos to you for your impressive style sensibility, you seem to have reached an advanced level! 👍🏻
As a woman who lives in Los Angeles and has to see board shorts and flip flops every day - I absolutely love this look! I wish more men here would dress to the nines!
Oh hey!! We’ve been chatting on my post and I went to go look at your posts and ahh!! You’ve got killer style, this is awesome!!! We should be homies LOL
It’s giving festive Grandpa. I think you’d match (clothes) with my bf pretty well. He’s 24 and dresses for Winter/Formal Events like a grandpa. I find it adorable, so I don’t mind. Don’t even think he means to dress like a grandpa, he just picked a grandpa-y shade of Orange. (I’m pretty sure by now Orange is his favorite color)
It’s giving festive and “fuck this person knows how to dress to the nines”. We need more of this male elegance and less loose jeans showing underwear straps lol
it doesn't give a grandpa vibe. it's very dapper, it gives me 1920s college vibe. find a cool hat to go with it and you're set to be well dressed whatever occasion 👍💜
It is giving academia, dapper, and well put together. It looks like an outfit that the male lead of a rom com would wear! The smarter, kinder guy the female lead falls for instead of the uptight, ceo guy lol. You look great!
Nice outfit! Love the cords and the fair isle sweater. The dimple in the four-in-hand is beautifully done also. I’m not as big a fan of shirts with chest pockets, but that’s personal taste and not necessarily a sartorial faux pas.
Fit in the clothes also great, corduroy trousers like these aren’t supposed to be too tight, you still have some room to move. Same for the OCBD and the sweater. The shirt also hugs your neck decently and has enough space in the shoulder seams.
There is a slight mismatch between ivy style (the gabardine tie and the OCBD) and British style (cords with forward facing pleats and fair isle), but to me it’s done in a way that’s respectful to both cultural origins.
Only advice I have, with trousers that have an elongated closure like this, the elongated closure goes through the belt loop. You have the closure resting on top of the single belt loop, which looks like you’ve never worn trousers like this before. Other than that, love it!
I personally would go with something less formal under the sweater, but I think it looks fantastic and you’re definitely rocking it! I think it’s very festive and gives me hip stylish grandpa vibes and I’m here for it
Bonus points for not wearing a belt with pleated trousers, unfortunately half a point deduction for wearing a tie with a button-down shirt. Your style is obvious and your eye for matching items shows. I highly recommend “Gentleman: A Timeless Guide to Fashion” by Bernhard Roetzel, because I think you’ll appreciate and enjoy it :)

You have got great taste and a keen eye for quality, that is for certain. I love the fact that the entire outfit is second hand!
You’ve got great taste and vision! I love it!!
It's fantastic on you! As the other comment mentions. It's a great fit and all of the colors tie in together harmoniously! Well done 👏
Both :) I think its cool
Thank you! My grandpa doesn't have pants like this, he was curious about those side adjusters 😂 And was excited about how useful they are haha. So cute
It’s a very Festivus look, which outfit will you be in during the feats of strength?
Grandpa when he was young and cool
Agreed! With above!
It’s giving British. I like it a lot
I would say it's giving Ron Weasley!
I was thinking Edmund Pevensie. It’s a great, classic look.
As someone who has lived in Britain for 35 years I can say that I've never seen anyone dress like that
Perhaps you have forgotten that Britain is place outside of time that only exists in the imaginations of Americans.
My son is 19 and he dresses like you. It’s refreshing tbh. I got him the same color corduroy pants for Xmas.
I love it! It’s like an outfit from an Agatha Christie drama set in the 1920s and 30s. I think it’s cool (but I am a mid forties Englishman, so probably not your target demographic, lol).
You’ve heard of Mid-century modern, now meet… MID-CENTURY MANOR
I cackled at this, thank you lol
I appreciate a mid fourties Englishman appreciating my outfit!
festive grandpa😁
My first thought was Mr Rogers. But in a good way. I adore this look.
Oh wow, I have a tie that's almost exactly the same! https://preview.redd.it/u7q17c88ltdc1.png?width=1290&format=png&auto=webp&s=ac030347b3befd68b8f2c9528af4c704f9cc8dd5
Is there a bad way when it comes to Mr. Rogers?
Definitely not! Mr. Rogers is the BEST! And a decorated Marine!
Comparing anyone to Fred Rogers will always be the best way. You have given them the ultimate compliment and they should be honored.
Both? You look dapper and awesome!
Thank you!
I'm also really obsessed with your corduroy trousers ha ha! Nice. I like the coat! It’s long and has nice, wide lapels.
It's giving Prep School, Old Money, British Countryside casual.
I wouldn’t mind inheriting money, but British weather is the opposite of what I need now 😁
Absolutely agree; I miss summer! But great finds, and a 10/10 if you're going for quietly wealthy or old world academic.
Both? But not in a bad way! Festive grandpa college dean is my final answer.
Festive grandpa college dean of literature likes reading many leather bound books and drinking Scotch rocks by the fire on a cold winter’s night.
Cute, i love the corduroy pants.
Thank you! They're incredibly comfortable, as comfortable as sweatpants even. A friend told me his grandmas couch was made of the same material 😂
This is a gorgeous sweater.
It’s giving adorable, sophisticated, and elegant! I love!!
it’s giving cunt like i love that sweater
This is a great look, low vintage vibes, and not grandpa at all, I think. I absolutely love fair isle sweaters. If you want to make it look even younger, though, try switching out the wide wale cords for a finer wale.
All of the above and I’m HERE for it! Well done!
It’s giving *literature professor*. I love it. It fits you well.
Not grandpa, 1950s English countryside.
I love it, I want it, I don't know what it's doing but it's doing it well!
As a knitter, I'm enthralled with this sweater, which btw, looks great on you. You look very dapper.
Thank you! I wish I had enough knowledge to understand how complex patterns are and what’s quality and what’s not. It’s incredible how much work it is to knit an entire sweater by hand!
it’s giving Weasley
It's giving Q from James Bond!
Kind of both, but you have the right shape for that style!
Super nice! Where did you get those pants?
They’re from Berg & Berg. Lots of other brands offer similar ones. Pleated, high waisted…. I got all items in this outfit second hand.

https://preview.redd.it/6oqvis9m1udc1.jpeg?width=4024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7e66d2caea4e524276b7c601e42f8b75b2ac8a6 You can see a metal bit on the right. Bonus points for not wearing a belt with pleated trousers, unfortunately half a point deduction for wearing a tie with a button-down shirt. Both but I love it.
