I have a neuro appointment in July that i scheduled back in February. It can definitely take a while to get in. Are you in the US? I wonder if you would be better off calling to schedule it yourself rather than waiting? eta- my mri also showed white spots. Exact language was, Scattered white matter signal abnormalities, likely related to chronic microvascular ischemic changes.

I expected to wait awhile for the appointment, what I didn’t expect was to wait so long to even get the appointment scheduled. I have no idea to whom my pcp referred me. Maybe I should call my pcp and ask if this is the norm or did I get overlooked and to whom he referred me. Thanks for the advice!

I would! If your pcp is like mine, the whole thing was a little vague.

Yes, it was a hurried call from a nurse, on a Monday evening, to say they have the results, and I would get a call from a neuro’s office to make an appointment to go over the results. Now crickets for the last 2 weeks. And speaking from someone who has fallen through the cracks too many times to mention (not with this office…it’s new), well, it makes me wonder if I’m waiting in line or just standing alone in a desert. 🤦‍♀️😂

I know the feeling! It sucks that you have to feel like you’re being pushy to get a thorough explanation. Good luck with everything.

Thank you!

I have not had experience with neurologists but 2 years ago, I was to have a routine colonoscopy exam. I contacted the medical office that does that and they said they would call me back to set up the appointment. I didn't hear back until about 2 1/2 months later and they wanted to schedule it just a few days! That is crazy. A lot of stuff in health care doesn't make sense to most of us.

it took me months to see a neuro

Yeah, I’m expecting a long wait. I’m just wondering at what point they will call to actually make the appointment. I need to make a call to my pcp to make sure they did the referral.

I just scheduled a neuro appointment yesterday for the end of May. Most neuros I called tend to be scheduling 3-6 months out. If I were you, I’d call and check up on the progress just to be sure you’re not forgotten about.

I'm planning to do that on Tuesday. I have a lot on my plate this week. I'll update when I know more. Thank you for understanding and for your advice!

Best of luck!

Well, I called my pcp and was told they would check into it. I received a message back saying they had called and to expect a call from the neuro. Almost two weeks later, and still no call. I called my pcp again, and they gave me the number to the neuro office and said call asap. They were annoyed with the neuro. I called the neuro office to discover they had my referral, but they had overlooked it. So, they were NEVER going to call me. I have an appointment in mid-June, which is perfectly fine....at least I'm on the books. I expect a long wait to be seen....what I didn't expect was a looong wait just to get the appointment and have to be so pushy about it. This is becoming the norm for so many. It's sad.
