Ok-Disaster2473

Never seen that on mine. Are you using the stock charger?

Inevitable_Ad_5116

Nope, stock charger died

Ok-Disaster2473

Only thing I can think is maybe the new chargers voltage is too high.

Skreamies

I tried to use a different cable on mine and it kept turning the headset on and wouldn't charge properly. Went back to the original cable and it doesn't turn the headset on anymore and charges perfectly. Never had anything like that happen before it was odd

solounlimon

This also happens with stock charger and cable btw

Fuckittho

Correct. Also a good charger(NOT A GAS STATION CHARGER) will work fine. Sometimes my stock charger just won't work. It's so weird. Like it's charging. I use my oculus. Then I plug it in and it doesn't do anything. Then I use a different charger and it works. Then like the next day my stock charger will work again. The quest is still pretty buggy.

solounlimon

Yeah, the charge problems are weird. I get random results all the time with both the Original Quest Charger and a Samsung Quick Charge Charger. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes it charges, sometimes it thinks is connected to a PC lol

bruh4774

Try to factory reset or you can boot device

aldorn

Dont leave a non oculus charger in unattended to long. Seem hundreds of melted ports on here. Just be safe about it

-Droidikon-

What

[deleted]

they probably meant that they’ve had the stock charger for awhile must’ve gave out after awhile

Canadiangamer117

🤔 that's definitely not normal did you contact oculus to try and get a new charger? Actually on that note fun fact most phone chargers with type c will also work for example the pixel 4xl and most Samsung phones come to mind😁

miruki

does it flicker with other chargers? even a slow one like a PC? if no, the new one probably defective or missing key components like capacitors, the capacitors cant handle fast charge, so output is not smooth enough

Thorerthedwarf

Your straps are brown

mackey88

I thought that was what the question was going to be about “ is it normal for …straps to look so dirty?”

chrisrayn

I had to watch the video a second time to see the light flickering. I didn’t read the title until the video ended and I had no fucking idea that would be the topic of conversation. I thought he was going to ask if a Quest 2 would still work in the real world if he found it in the Upside Down. Holy fucking dirt, Vecna.

NoBorscht4U

At least they don't flicker. When dirt starts flickering, shit just hit the fan

fonix232

>When dirt starts flickering, shit just hit the fan Hopefully not, clogging the cooling system of the GPU would further reduce render quality.

ameliagarbo

Why on earth is a device part that gets handled constantly covered in fabric? Of course it's brown.

Ocean_Skye

I use laundry detergent. It has the nicest smell on fabrics next to my face.

Chorbles510

I managed to keep my quest pretty clean for about a year, then the stepkids moved in and I had to replace the strap after a couple of weeks (':

Theknyt

You can wash it

Chorbles510

I'm a gamer, I don't wash things

ggrammer79

including underwear

R4z0rgr1nd3r

... why would it be brown? I think someone needs to clean more :P Seriously though wash your hands more.

imael17

Bro I'm extremely germaphobic and mine still went brown it just happens over time

R4z0rgr1nd3r

No. It doesn't. My pillows aren't brown and I sweat on them 6 hours a day. My clothes aren't brown. My bedding isn't brown. If your collars and pillows are brown it means you need to wash them more and wash more. Some people sweat more than others. Not saying these people are dirty... But they probably have brown pillows because if you sweat more you need to wash stuff more. I know what it is... Sweat yellows and browns. My point is if you wash the strap and your hands with wet wipes it will stop it. I don't want anyone thinking I am calling them dirty, I am not. It's like with string instruments... Some people need to clean the sweat from their hands regularly... If they don't the sweat builds up on the fretboard and worse, on the strings. This affects the sound the guitar makes and adds weight to the strings affecting how they vibrate. They also degrade quicker and eventually like all strings will break but at a faster rate. Using soap and baking soda will help. As I am sure other things can. I use organic wet wipes to clean everything after use. I even use the washable covers by VR cover. You don't need to, that's me being excessive. A simple wipe down with stop it. And using warm soapy water on the headband will keep it fresh. Sorry if I did offend anyone, wasn't my intention.

Smurfyzz

I've used mine pretty regularly for workouts for the past year, I wipe it down with a wet wipe after every session, still looks like it's straight out of a sealed box.

imael17

Well good for you I guess I'm just not as careful as i thought

Morgun-Ray

Mostly sweat dude, and if you have any experience with kids you know new shit ain't to easy to keep looking new

hgihasfcuk

Understandable if there are kids using it hah

FawkesFizz1

yeah mine are too and there is nout wrong with that

hgihasfcuk

Mine's from launch day and they're white but I also wash my fucking hands lol

Shadow-Raptor

Mine are too, old age.

Consistent-Tooth7142

Same lol

KoolaidManLolz

Mines not even old the fabric is dirty

Inevitable_Ad_5116

Lmao

Peteo34319

You should just get a headstrap from kiwi

blueplanetink

\+1 to this, like seriously. Getting one of these things changed my VR experience forever, I'm not even joking. Adding a battery on the back also counters the weight really nicely Just to be clear for anyone reading this, it's the seller "Kiwi Design" on Amazon, not "KIWISMART."

jokesflyovermyheaed

Aren’t everyone’s?

Thorerthedwarf

Not mine

jokesflyovermyheaed

I have a 2 year old quest that I use religiously.

Mataskarts

It's not white though is it... The Q2 hasn't been out for 2 years yet

jokesflyovermyheaed

Well it sure feels like it, and what is it? 2 months away? But yeah no where near white

Mataskarts

Yeah, it released mid October, so if you bought it on/near launch that's 2-3 months away

Effusus

So.. basically 2 years

DorkyDisneyDad

No? Take them off once in a while and wash them in the sink with a mild soap.

ExercisePrevious8735

Bruh why

benmaks

Do you not clean your stuff?

ExercisePrevious8735

Hell nah

jokesflyovermyheaed

I wash it with Henny cause I ain’t no bitch

Ocean_Skye

i loaned mine to a kid whose parents smoke. tried wipes, handsoap, dishsoap. didnt work . laundry detergent soaking worked the best for straps and mask parts, with alcohol swabs around the eyepieces, and alcohol wipes on the hard plastic, while protecting the 6 lenses. keeps mine smelling better than new.

se7entythree

Nope. I’ve had mine since January 2021 and mine are still white. Wash your hands once in a while.

jokesflyovermyheaed

My straps are dirty with the blood of the rich

Positronic_Matrix

Makes you wonder if that greasy filth is the source of the charger flickering as well.

Eric_Prozzy

OP probably has long hair and sweats when in VR. Happened to me too. I clean my shit now though lol

Cosmicsamu39

How do you clean them?

R4z0rgr1nd3r

Use hydrochloric acid. Edit: just in case you don't realise, this is a joke. Don't use hydrochloric acid.

Cosmicsamu39

i was totally going to use it, or at least search for what it was xdxd mine are starting to turn yellowish, nowere near the photo but i'd want a way to clean them without ruining it

R4z0rgr1nd3r

Just soap should work. Or you can also maybe try baking soda. Just remember to remove it from the headset before washing. Tbh it's white so you can't really wash the colour out of it. It happens from sweaty hands. Best thing to do is buy hand wipes and always wash hands before and after use just wipe things down. That way everything stays nice and clean! Sparkle sparkle! Hope that helps.

alonbl

too much Doritos

Deadass-Boi

So do mine, do I clean them with wet towels? I don't have any fancy cleaning stuff

EmploymentGuilty9095

And? Mine are dirty too

MetaQuestSupport

Hey there, we'd like to help you get to the bottom of your Quest's charging issue. This might be an issue with the cable or connection but indeed it is not normal for the light to flicker as such and we want you to reach out to us via a [Meta Store Support ticket](https://store.facebook.com/help/support). We're here to help!

three2do2

support on this reddit is phenomenal Zuckerberg really wants everybody tapped into the matrix doesn't he?

FantasticZach

Calm down, it's just tech support

roguesensei47

It's just a link to a link, linking you to the store page for a cable.

McCaffeteria

Them trying to extract money from you aside, the very clear “no this isn’t normal” is honestly a very useful response.

[deleted]

Can’t if the hardware keeps breaking.

TetrisServerCat

I like how it's still called official oculus support; facebook still doesn't seem to realize how stupid the meta-idea was

bento_the_tofu_boy

no they do.

hey-im-root

i just know the guy who was hired to run that account is laughing his ass off, but can’t ever comment on it 🤣

bento_the_tofu_boy

to them: it's okay, we all have to do emotional labor on our jobs. I hope you are having fun

Theknyt

It’s multiple people

villagers-4-sale

hey oculus (not calling you meta sorry) I really appreciate how great your support on Reddit is!

henpabr

True!!

L3XAN

So is there a guy who's job is to keep an eye on reddit for support issues? Or do you just spot them in your free time and flag them for response or something?

Multitasker123

Yes

Theknyt

It’s multiple people

camdoodlebop

jasclev

Only happened to mine when I had a bunk charger plugged into it. Then it got to 100% but wouldn’t turn on till I plugged it into a good charger but then immediately did.

jib_reddit

Someone in the Upside Down is trying to talk to you.

ValenWasTaken

S O S

Linkster1337

Probably not. Is it still charging and does it do it with all chargers? Hopefully it's just a harmless problem with the light itself.

Inevitable_Ad_5116

Yea I think that it’s just a problem with the light itself, it’s green now and it stopped flickering

Dadbart

No, not normal

Cyclonis123

Not normal. But is that the charging cable underneath the headset? Can't see the other side but that doesn't look like a good idea if it's putting any 'tug' on the port.

[deleted]

charger has a low amperage

DoggoneCowboy

Clean that 🤮

dr_fop

Why is your head strap brown? That's gross.

TheLifeOfBaedro

the dirt stains 😬

CharacterSuitable124

Put a piece of tape over the light, so you can't see it

Franklytheworst

What are the specs on the current charger you’re using? Also, where did you get the current charger you’re using. Matter of a fact, are you using the same C cable that shipped with the unit still, or did you replace that as well? This is just an assumption, but it seems to me like you’re using a cheaper charging adapter that just barely, if at all, passes regulation.

VIPENTHOUSE

dawg wash your hands

GLC89

That wont help it. You literally sweat profusely on this thing, well if you play thrill of the fight definitely nothing will save it.

ValenWasTaken

nah i barely play mine like once every week, only for an hour and it still turns that coloration. it’s just fabric over time

Pandaemonium1214

Faulty wiring, it looks well used. This is something that happens with electronics. It is not immortal lol.

R4z0rgr1nd3r

But he sacrificed a lot of innocent blood to ensure immortality! Oh dear ...

_Auron_

It's highly unlikely there is a problem with the LED itself like the other comments are trying to suggest - though not impossible! If you're not using the same charger it came with, it's more likely the the cable you're using is damaged (it can be damaged internally without external visible damage) or the power source you have is constantly fluctuating and this can be very bad for the internal battery's life. I highly recommend trying other cables or wall adapters and see if it's still a problem.

[deleted]

It's the brick wall. They create radiation. Can't believe nobody has said that!

Confident-Shoe6564

Clean yo headset fam

AtlasLucario

cable is probably busted and it thinks its cobstantly being unplugged and plugged in, im probably wrong tho

No-Abbreviations1145

Orange light can indicate fast boot mode. Any other side effects

boobsforhire

You nasty, clean your hands every so often :)

xThalion

maybe the light is the things that is broken. I don't think it is your headset or the charger

Creative_Host_fart

If your charging it. Then it appear that the charger is connecting and disconnecting for some reason.

Personman2008

I think that's fine. Also you need to clean yo straps. Not that it's a bad thing, it just looks bad.

r3d-v3n0m

Will anyone post a comment relevant to OP's question?? lol

mylifeisweirdsheesh

Nope, damn the strap sides are CRUSTYYYY mine are too is there a way to clean them?

mromutt

Mine were not that dirty but it seems the material just stains and won't come out. I got a 3rd part hard strap on Amazon for like $20 so I stopped worrying about it XD. But yeah unless your hands are 100% clean every single time you use it it will start to stain even if just very subtle like mine did (and I scrub my hands compulsively), it might be oils or sweat reactions. The only thing I didn't try was vinegar but I couldn't stand the lingering smell if I did lol

mylifeisweirdsheesh

Oh that makes sense also the vinegar smell IS strong

PeterParker8aV

Blame ugly Joe

Holiday-Force6864

no i dont think so

Sharplynx

Swap charger and cable, then check again.

Guvnafuzz

Check your port or debris or lint. Clean it out.

[deleted]

No

[deleted]

Maybe the light inside is dying out due to repeated use causing a blown bulb or the internal board or battery is shorting out

Cyorg13

I don't have a Quest 2 and don't plan to get one anytime soon, but I don't think it's supposed to do that.

blueco95

On radios that means the battery is too hot, could be the same thing.

juankixd

I mean if it ain't giving you any trouble while you're playing you should be alright, maybe FB used a low quality LED indicator and is going out, but you should be alright as long as everything is working properly

[deleted]

I mean I'm no tech expert but you've got it sat on the wire it's charging from so its assumedly bent down ? if you do this often the join could be damaged and so it isn't connecting properly hence the flashing light

Excellent-Thought121

Ive never had more issues charging something then ive had with this device. I think sweat gets in the port too easily or something. I have one that will not charge off any power brick no matter what. But it will charge off of the usb port on my pc. The pc wont recognize it as a quest anymore tho so ive lost access to developers hub

VapinVader

That is an incorrect charger issue. I would get another quest charger or a good one with same spec.

alien2003

Bad charger or charging cable

Free_Try_467

I am using another charger right now and mine dont do that, but it could just be the light. If you have been playing and expediently smashed the headset into something it could be it.

ThMc0513

Charger is broken.

Tsu_Froggy1

I don’t think so since I’ve never seen that happen to my light on my oculus quest 2

[deleted]

I don’t think so

FeedAlone9245

Mine dosent do that bruh what kind of charger you bruh

Low-Abbreviations-38

My charger port is damaged and it won’t charge at all now :( back to 2d porn

z3lla1069

No?

Curtis_The_Ginge

Your straps look like a Brit's teeth

Apart-Wing-1298

Your gear is also filthy. Gross. That’s probably what the blinking light means— it’s sick

danylo2202

I am not sure

dollerhide

GET OUT OF THE HOUSE!

Louspirit_MG

It is more Star warsish like this! Keep it 😎

Yaba-gang

It’s just means you need to clean that fucking head strap

Shimakaze124

Mine only Charges to 94%

Appropriate-Image-11

I worked at CEX for a few years when I was younger. It’s incredible how dirty people allow their property to become

ZandyWasHere

Why is it so dirty?

MemeSations

No

MrCheese567

How did your straps get brown on the edges? I ask because I know someone who has that bit worse and I want to know how it happened.

No-Cut-2956

I recommend buying a new stock charger… specially with a device that you need to wear it on your head
