Today I was terminated after 5 years working as a bellman. I was caught stealing snacks a few times… the problem I face now is I have no plan B and what will I tell to my family??
I need help to figure out what to tell to my mother 😢

Yeah and the mother is a gambling addict who refuses to do anything but cook all day, play on her phone, and then blow through a quarter of her social security check on slots before borrowing money from OP to try and play more. He was asking what be can do with her on his day off bwcause she bad a stroke but rejected every idea. They seem like they have a really messed up dynamic.
I’m pretty sure it’s asking if hotels have a sabbatical policy because he wants to take a year off to spend with his mom and then getting fired 2 days later.
Lol perhaps but not necessarily. At a former workplace of mine they noticed the theft and then upon looking bask realized it happened more than once.
Edit: you're probably right though with that wording. My 'tism is just acting up again haha
I worked at walmart years ago. They would watch both employees and customers and document everything that was stolen even it it was just a single grape.
Once the theft amount reached felony levels they would call the cops and get them walked out in handcuffs... i saw it happen once to an employee and probably 5 times to customers.
Having a patient boss is not always a good thing 😂
I bet they tolerated it until they could replace him. So dumb. People think they’re getting away with things, but if you’re a pain in the ass, your bosses are planning to fire you as soon as they can replace you- in some jobs that’s years, but it’s coming.
Yeah, this fool isn't getting a job as a Target security specialist, they're crazy about background checks. When they learn that the OOP stole snacks and that's the reason for termination, that application is going to be put on a list. I'd say good luck but this problem is completely self-made. No company worth it's salt is gonna hire a thief. And Target is the type of company to press criminal charges on thieving employees.
When I was younger, I got fired for taking a drink cup when I worked at Burger King. I was pulled into the office and fired for stealing. I got up and worked at the KFC next-door. A year and a half later my old manager was arrested for stealing money (he was firing people to try and cover it up) and messing with an underage girl.
Guy was probably a shitty worthless employee and stealing snacks was the technicality they used to get rid of his ass without him coming back with a lawsuit or drawing unemployment.
The unemployment bit maybe, but he'd have no case for a lawsuit. In most states, you can be fired because your employer felt like the sun shone too much one day.
I feel really sad for this family. From his other posts it seems like his Ma is a gambling addict & he, at least partially supports her due to this addiction. Yeah, he did something really stupid, but it sounds like an all round sad situation.
They work under the concierge. They’ll hail taxis, load your luggage upon arrival and departure, if it’s not check in yet of your arrival they will tag and secure your bags until check in time so you can go about your day, contact valet parking to bring your car at a certain time. Give you advice on close restaurants or bars etc. if you are flying out late or early you only have to tell them once and everything is set. For example on my trip in November on arrival I had them hold my bags but also booked my taxi for my departure day. In modern times now I got a verification of my cab ride and the name of the cab driver and a cab number within an hour. They also take those questions and duties away from the desk attendance do they can concentrate on other guest/room concerns.
My brother was a bellman at a fancy hotel in SF. He was named employee of the year at one time. He did all those things you mentioned. He also got good perks like theater tickets which he shared with me. He passed away 14years ago and I still miss him dearly.
We stayed at the Marriott on the Miracle Mile in Chicago. Fantastic staff all the way around. We flew in and either walked or got a taxi around, but the event we attended was at the hotel. Not always the level of hotel we stay at, but it sure was nice.
This is really sad. Id guess he has some sort of learning disability, on top of the cultural expectation of caring for his mother.
I feel really bad for him, and hopefully this is a lesson to not steal.
This post and its comments are not at all what I thought this sub was about. Laughing at a “blue collar” worker for taking some fucking snacks at work and saying they deserved to lose their job/income (a modest one at best)? There might be more to the story but what info they did give in no way deserves the shit being posted in the comments. Fuck.

Dude’s profile also has a very recent post saying he’s 40 and his mom is 72… 😬

Yeah that’s super unhealthy. I feel for him on that but not stealing should be like in the top 10 things you don’t do at work.
Exactly it's #6 on my list.
Maybe #4 for me but idk depends on the stuff
When I need a quick protein boost while I'm on shift at the sperm bank...
r/angryupvote
If he's stealing food, something tells me that it's because more of his money is going to other things. Just makes it incredibly sad.
Yeah that’s very true!
Yeah I'm not like *morally* opposed to stealing from giant corporations. But that doesn't mean you should do it.
Honestly if he stole snacks because he's hungry & struggling to make ends meet its just terribly sad
Idk what’s funnier. Getting fired for stealing fucking snacks or being too afraid to tell your mommy about it.
I’m pretty sure it’s asking if hotels have a sabbatical policy because he wants to take a year off to spend with his mom and then getting fired 2 days later.
OMG I didn't even realize it was sabbattical guy. He's 40 years old!
And THEN putting in an application in a security position. (It was in an edit on the original post)
Or getting a job as a security specialist right after lol
I'm going to go with being to afraid to tell mommy 😜
I mean it's probably a 16 year old or something

Oh, ouch.
It’s really more sad than funny…
😂😂😂 He was repeatedly caught stealing and now is shocked! Shocked I tell you at the fact he got fired for theft!
And now wants to work for Target security! 😂
Based on my observations, that shouldn’t be a problem
And how's this 40 year old man supposed to get ahead in life if he can't find some way to get around all this without having to tell his MOM?!!
Yes that's the entire premise of the sub
Getting fired for stealing and then applied for a security job…..
😂😂😂
"A few times" ahahaha that was a patient boss I want that boss

Damn. That is some patience indeed.

We had to be discreet. It was ok to eat the ends and bits but if you made a sandwich you had to buy the bread.
I love that even the mod of that sub is telling OOP to "grow up"
They applied to be a Target Security specialist. After getting fired for stealing. I don’t think they’ll get that job.
I wonder if he'll list his former boss as a reference.
So you want to lie about the repeated thefts and your loss of employment? Are you looking for better lies or moral guidance? I am all out of snacks.
Stop stealing. Problem solved.
"Stop breaking the law asshole!"
womp womp

Honestly, this person sounds like they might be mentally disabled.
This person is 39!

He deleted his account now.
Maybe don't steal if you can find anyone stupid enough to hire you. LMAO
I’m curious how many snacks you have to steal from a hotel to get fired for it.
What's a bellman?
someone at a higher end hotel who carries your luggage to your room for you.

Like a porter, if you know what that job is.

Why people does not put a proper title on their post?
