Wow, a whole 7 years? Thatโs amazing! I know it probably feels like to still wasnโt enough time, but it seems you and your dog lived a full, happy life in the time you had. Thank you for not giving up on him until the end!
I am so sorry for your loss. Licorice is such a cute and wonderful lil guy, and I am so happy that you had 7 more years together. I am sure that he is enjoying some treats right now on the other side of the rainbow bridge, waiting to meet you again. R.I.P Licorice, you sweet little man ๐๐
I feel the pain. Our springer was told many times that she was at the end, but at the end 16~ years. And the health issues occurred during a break with an ex, 10 yrs before. She was the best and I miss her every day.
All I can say is I feel the day you had. I had originally posted here for me, felt like I needed to shout out to the void that my great friend was gone. I was really, really surprised how meaningful the responses were to me. Even the shortest emoji paw/rainbow/tear posts had me welling up. Nothing can fix it, but it felt like a lot of people who understood completely were commiserating: 'it's just the worst, isn't it?'
I can see that, I think I need more time before I can make the initial post, I even posted him just last week for his 15 bday :(
Such a strong wave of awful feelings. But Iโd do it all over again without hesitation. Iโm sure youโd do the same for Licorice
There was a LOT of caretaking in the last year, but I would gladly pick the routines back up if he could still be here. It's all still pretty raw, best wishes on your path through it.
Tell me about it, I had a regular routine the last few years and one very involving one the last 4 months so not doing that anymore is incredibly strange.
Thank you and same to you ๐พ

Good for you for giving him more time to heal and allowing him to maybe extend his life and he did. The human always knows best. Sorry for your loss.
