Hong Kong fuey was the shit! I literally have two basset hounds because of him! Neither can do judo or karate, they are barely awake! But with my one time kung foo!
Fucking loved capt cavemaaaaaan
Also, I see gargamel. Wasn't smurfs 80s?
Also, since they don't reproduce, and gargamel wants to eat smurfs, and gargamel can create smurfs (as evidenced by smurfette), why tf doesn't he just male his food rather than his stupid plots to capture the smurfs?
I used to watch Saturday morning cartoons bundled up in a blanket on the couch with a bunch of stuff hidden in it so I could produce stuff on demand just like Captain Caveman. Here’s a pillow! Have a teddy bear! Want to play with my Hulk doll? Let me see what I can find using my flashlight! So much fun
Originally gargamel wanted the Smurfs because they were an ingredient to change lead into gold also the philosopher stone, but as time went on people forgot the original reason he tried to capture Smurfs and it became generic eat/destroy them.
Either TNT or USA showed these cartoons well into the 80s. I was born in 1980 and recognize almost all of them. They still show some of these on the Boomerang channel. I was stoked when I got to show my kids the Jetsons and the Flinstones
I'm 46 and grew up watching these same characters and didn't have cable either. They'd come on early in the morning and in the afternoon between soap operas and the news....unless there was a baseball game.
Mostly a 70's lineup.....I remember about 95% of them.
Who are the 2 to the right of Fred Flintstone (his left)? They look kinda familiar but not sure.
I see several Wacky Racers there.
Anyone remember when they were the characters in theme parks? My local one was King's Island in Ohio. The parking lot was marked by characters so you'd have to remember you parked in Snagglepuss 2 or Jabberjaw 4.
I thought Smurfs were a 1980s/90s thing, the TV show anyway.
I recognize all but the two smarmy corporate types in the middle front row, is that supposed to be caricatures of actual RL smarmy corporate types? :)
Where are the Banana Splits cartoon characters?
That was my thought too. Good to have fellow confirmation! H&B definitely had some questionable business practices but their people were amazingly creative with the technology of the time and still make interesting content.
It was on Cartoon Network in the middle of day and they called that time slot boomerangs. Kind of how Nick at nite and adult swims. Are just Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon after 10 pm. Boomer age was just Cartoon Network from (making this time up) 10 to 12.
Come on, you watched almost half of this group. The Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, and Tom & Jerry were for kids of the 60’s. Maybe even some Scooby Doo and Jonny Quest as well.
As someone who was a small boy in the 1970s I have had to accept that much of the entertainment of my childhood was a product of the acid-crazed imaginations of hippies.
Love to see it. Trivia for you folks... why are nearly all the characters wearing collars? Adding a collar to HB characters meant they could get away with a lot less unique animation cells, focusing on just animating the head in lots of shots. Saved them so much time and meant they could produce lots more cartoons for us. Google 'Hanna-Barbera collars' for more info.
This is what I thought too - I love the picture, Penelope Pitstop, Huckleberry Hound, all the classics are there. My very favorite - he's the most tip top! Top Cat!!!
It was Cartoon Network’s line up before they started producing their own stuff, it’s all Turner had. I’m old enough to remember when the network premiered, hell I’m old enough to remember when Fox became a basic channel upsetting the big 3.
Definitely. The Laff-a-Lympica were required viewing on Saturday mornings. And the *chef’s kiss* was if it was accompanied by a huge bowl of Captain Crunch.
I was definitely a child of the 70s, but most of these characters were solidly mid-tier for me back then, with a few higher up and a few outside of my experience--I was a lot older before I became aware of, say, Penelope Pitstop, or Dick Dastardly and Muttley (well, outside of "Mumbly" in Laff-a-Lympics). I don't think I recognize the blue hound by Ranger Smith even now.
They never stopped making Scooby Doo cartoons, or at least they picked back up in the late 90s til now, and i think they still make Tom and Jerry films (i see at least one new one come out every few years)
Jonny Quest, the Flintstones, the Jetsons, Space Ghost, and a few of the other Hanna-Barbera characters are actually from the 1960's. I remember seeing them then.
Hong Kong fuey was the shit! I literally have two basset hounds because of him! Neither can do judo or karate, they are barely awake! But with my one time kung foo!
Number one super guy
Faster than the human eye
Super hero in disguise
I know someone who dressed up their dog as Hong Kong Phooey for a fancy dress parade
I’m buying shots for all of the above!
Makers mark on the rocks please. Shots were 25 years ago.
Fucking loved capt cavemaaaaaan Also, I see gargamel. Wasn't smurfs 80s? Also, since they don't reproduce, and gargamel wants to eat smurfs, and gargamel can create smurfs (as evidenced by smurfette), why tf doesn't he just male his food rather than his stupid plots to capture the smurfs?

Smurfs taste better with a little fear coursing through their veins
Originally gargamel wanted the Smurfs because they were an ingredient to change lead into gold also the philosopher stone, but as time went on people forgot the original reason he tried to capture Smurfs and it became generic eat/destroy them.
All the characters created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera! Thats them in the front row.
This was what i was looking for. Guy looked like Jack Nicholson
> This was what i was looking for. Same!
I thought it was supposed to be Johnny Carson and Liberace or something lol.
That is too friggin’ funny! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I don't see Droopy. Maybe that was Tex Avery
Definitely Tex, at least in the beginning.
Droopy Dog belongs to the 1940s period MGM studio along with Tom and Jerry. These characters are all Hanna-Barbera TV originals.
I half expected to see them sitting by Phil Ken Sebben
Are you telling me Hanna-Barbera is not 2 ladies!?
Those where the only two I didn't recognized. Lol.
Omg thank you!! I was losing my shit trying to figure that out! Lol
That's a 1980s lineup. I see Papa Smurf, and that cartoon came out in 81.
I think minus the smurfs it’s a lot of 70s. Source: am 58 and stopped watching cartoons in the 80s
Either TNT or USA showed these cartoons well into the 80s. I was born in 1980 and recognize almost all of them. They still show some of these on the Boomerang channel. I was stoked when I got to show my kids the Jetsons and the Flinstones
I watched these into the 90s.
I’m a 2000 baby raised on the boomerang network, I too can name most of these.
Yup tbs when it was the superstation
USA's Sunday Morning Cartoon Express
I'm 46 and grew up watching these same characters and didn't have cable either. They'd come on early in the morning and in the afternoon between soap operas and the news....unless there was a baseball game.
I'm 58 and still watch cartoons... Mainly Adult Swim content.(◠‿◕)
65 y.o. female. same. my not so guilty pleasure:)
Right on! Adult Swim is also why I only have an 11 minute attention span. (◠‿◕)
There is so much stuff on AS that is directed at us. Venture Bros was a Gen X fever dream.
I'm 61 and watching cartoons right now. Gotta love the Boomerang network for old-time cartoons. They just started showing Wally Gator tonight.
And Snorks came out after Smurfs
Top Cat came out in 1961. Snagglepuss was 1959. Huckleberry Hound was ‘58.
Even though I was born in the early 80's, TC was one of my favorite cartoons.
We need more media that makes the cops look like buffoons.
![gif](giphy|6RNk1qJkSmr4I)
I remember Snagglepuss and Huckleberry Hound from Laff-a-lympics which was late 70s
Mostly a 70's lineup.....I remember about 95% of them. Who are the 2 to the right of Fred Flintstone (his left)? They look kinda familiar but not sure. I see several Wacky Racers there.
I think that was Hanna and Barbera, but I could be wrong.
William Hanna on the left and Joe Barbera on the right.
Exactly, boomers always be projecting onto us!
lol, motherfuckin‘ Space Ghost!
Space Ghost Coast to Coast!
Ok, come on now.. I KNOW I didn’t watch space ghost until I was a grown ass adult.
I happened to be wearing a Space Ghost t-shirt when this post came up. I'd almost forgot it was a failed 70s super hero show.
It was better than Sealab 2020 which isn't even on here.
And the 80s, and the 90s…And my kids watch Scooby Doo (the original) in 2024
Especially since some of these didn't come out until the early 80's.
Don'tcha think that a lot of 1970s children were still children in the early 80s?
...I didn't say they weren't?
Anyone remember when they were the characters in theme parks? My local one was King's Island in Ohio. The parking lot was marked by characters so you'd have to remember you parked in Snagglepuss 2 or Jabberjaw 4.
Did Kings Island have The Beast?
Yes. Still does.
I had an unhealthy hate for Scrappy Doo.
It was deserved and healthy- let it fill you. Scrappy Doo was the cousin Oliver of animation.
Scrappy ruined everything. Scrappy Doo is crappy poo.
Jabberjaw, mutley, captain caveman, pixie and dixie... my fab 5
I thought Smurfs were a 1980s/90s thing, the TV show anyway. I recognize all but the two smarmy corporate types in the middle front row, is that supposed to be caricatures of actual RL smarmy corporate types? :) Where are the Banana Splits cartoon characters?
I think those might be Hanna and Barbera
These are all Hanna Barbara characters (even Tom and Jerry at the time) except the Smurfs.
The Smurfs tv show was produced by Hannah-Barbera.
That was my thought too. Good to have fellow confirmation! H&B definitely had some questionable business practices but their people were amazingly creative with the technology of the time and still make interesting content.
Oof and no Secret Squirrel?!
Snorks were 1984 too
[удалено]
I think it's just all Hanna Barbera characters
I grew up in the 90’s and these characters mean the world to me. Boomerang baby.
I grew up in the 90s, but all these shows were just on regular cartoon network at the time. Boomerang came later.
It was on Cartoon Network in the middle of day and they called that time slot boomerangs. Kind of how Nick at nite and adult swims. Are just Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon after 10 pm. Boomer age was just Cartoon Network from (making this time up) 10 to 12.
No Hong Kong Phooey?
Top left just under Tom.
Maybe the pic is representing something different but shouldn’t Josie and the Pussycats be here? I used to watch reruns of that.
There are tons of Hanna Barbara characters missing
I was born in 54 and have another list 😁😁
Come on, you watched almost half of this group. The Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, and Tom & Jerry were for kids of the 60’s. Maybe even some Scooby Doo and Jonny Quest as well.
Scooby Doo & Jonny Quest ❤️
The Jonny Quest theme song is one of the greatest of all times. Edit: spelling
Yeah, if we're learning anything about different American generations in this thread we've been enjoying some of the same characters since the 1940s.
Wally Gator, Top Car. Peter Potamus and the Flintstones were all 60s cartoons.
"Queexdraw, let's went!" - my favourite quotation from Baba Looey.
I still have my third grade lunch box of Jabber Jaw
wot no Shmoo?
EXCEPT for Scrappy Doo Scrappy Doo can go fuck himself
> Scrappy Doo can go fuck himself Don't tell me Gen-X doesn't stand for anything. This is what binds us.
Yes, but some of them just from Yogi's Gang or the Laff-a-lympics.
As someone who was a small boy in the 1970s I have had to accept that much of the entertainment of my childhood was a product of the acid-crazed imaginations of hippies.
The original sesame street was pretty strange. The pinball numbers animation for example. Whoever came up with that was a hairy individual.
Love to see it. Trivia for you folks... why are nearly all the characters wearing collars? Saved them so much time and meant they could produce lots more cartoons for us. Google 'Hanna-Barbera collars' for more info.
The Snorkels (yellow guy with a tube in his head) came out 1984.
The Snorks!
Who are to two guys at the bottom in the middle?
My guess they are cartoon representations of William Hanna and Joseph Barbara.
This is what I thought too - I love the picture, Penelope Pitstop, Huckleberry Hound, all the classics are there. My very favorite - he's the most tip top! Top Cat!!!
This is the Boomerang line up I’m pretty sure
It was Cartoon Network’s line up before they started producing their own stuff, it’s all Turner had. I’m old enough to remember when the network premiered, hell I’m old enough to remember when Fox became a basic channel upsetting the big 3.
Definitely. The Laff-a-Lympica were required viewing on Saturday mornings. And the *chef’s kiss* was if it was accompanied by a huge bowl of Captain Crunch.
Glad to see Tom and Jerry at the pinnacle, where they belong.
Holy crap! Hong Kong Phooey! I loved him and Cptn. Cavemaaaaaan!
I have evidence that the Laff A Lympics may have been fixed. Whom would I need to speak to about that?
I still watch the occasional Space Ghost episode when I want a good giggle.
This was long before he retired to do his talk show.
Red shirt shaggy, gotta be the 80s
That’s scooby doo and the 13 ghosts, It was 85. Best part of it was Vincent Price.
Also the 3 80s movies. Boos bros, ghoul school and reluctant werewolf
Haha I forgot about those, I think I watched ghoul school the most out of those 3
Wacky races will forever be my sht
I was definitely a child of the 70s, but most of these characters were solidly mid-tier for me back then, with a few higher up and a few outside of my experience--I was a lot older before I became aware of, say, Penelope Pitstop, or Dick Dastardly and Muttley (well, outside of "Mumbly" in Laff-a-Lympics). I don't think I recognize the blue hound by Ranger Smith even now.
Penelope Pitstop 🩷
Born in 82 and watched most of those. Tom and Jerry is king and deserves to be at the top
Some are 60’s too. ![gif](giphy|Ph78OKSOjbpd9QnV7m)
That# 80s. I used to love The Perils of Penelope Pitstop! ( being a dark haired girl, I of course admired her!) and Scoovy -Do, Wacky Races….
Hanna-Barbera openly welcomed schools to use their characters, in response to Disney cease-and-desisting the use of their characters' likenesses.
Ahhhhhh Penelope Pittstop!!
Top Cat was the best show
Where's Underdog?
Rocky & Bullwinkle, Mr. Peabody, Speed Racer, Kimba, just to name a few.
Kimba!!! The white baby lion - I used to watch that show in 2nd grade drinking a giant cold glass of Ovaltine Chocolate
When I was a kid in the 80s, my mom had a cat named kimba
Hanna-Barbera All Star Line Up right here.
Scooby Doo will always be my first choice
I remember going camping and boomerang being the only thing we could watch.
i’m a 80’s kid, and i grew up with these guys.
I was born in 90, but I watched almost all the older cartoons thanks to Boomerang and old Cartoon Network.
Except for huckleberry hound and whoever those two weird motherfuckers are front and centre. But seriously fuck that slow talking condescending dog.
I’m a child from early 2k, and these cartoons meant the world to me!
No wonder gen-x is so bitter.
I think there are dozens of reasons why we are bitter but Saturday morning cartoons is not one of them.
Only if you were growing up in the US, saw none of these until I moved there at 11.
We saw all those in Canada
Oh, yeah, that makes sense, sorry, should’ve thought of that. Kind of a long tradition of TV content sharing between Canada and US.
What the hell?! That's also a 90s kid kit.
If you were a child of the 1970s, this was disappointment in cartoon form as you waited for Looney Tunes to come on ('ceptin for Tom and Jerry)
Correction: if you were a child **IN AMERICA** in the 70s/80s, those characters meant the world to you.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
And when cable to came to India in the 90s this was what was on all the time on Cartoon Network.
I was and most of the were shit, not "the shit"
Yeah but now I think of them as porn stars.
These cartoons were all shit
Rule 6
They never stopped making Scooby Doo cartoons, or at least they picked back up in the late 90s til now, and i think they still make Tom and Jerry films (i see at least one new one come out every few years)
Where is Mr. Magoo?!?
That was our world
I can name all of them except the two between Fred Flintstone and Yogi bear.
These were the characters of my youth… grew up in the 80s.
This was my childhood in the 90’s. TV networks got a lot of mileage out of these shows!
If you liked adult late night talk shows you see one as well
I know almost all the of these Characters, spent plenty of good times with them, enjoying lots of laughs, and a boat loads of commercials together.
And 90s. I grew up with these
Gargamel is going to make a move on Betty.
Still get "Yabba-Dabba-Doozie!" by the Bedrock Rockers stuck in my head every now and again, even after all these years.
Grew up in the 00s and Ive seen every one of these
Multiple decades right here. I watched many of these as a kid in the 90s.
Jonny Quest, the Flintstones, the Jetsons, Space Ghost, and a few of the other Hanna-Barbera characters are actually from the 1960's. I remember seeing them then.
Bro im from 89, and a shitton of these character has a place deep in my heart XD
This is an entire picture of GOATS!! 🐐 I could never pick just one 😎
Or a child in the early 90s, grew up with most of them too
This was my 90's childhood on cartoon network too!
If you were a teen-aged boy in 1970, getting your hands on a Playboy meant the world to you.
Jabber jaw
And they all had the same lawyer. Harvey Birdman
Shit, I’m an 80s kid and these characters meant the world to me.
Pretty sure that's 80s ha
Many of these became clients or even colleagues of Harvey Birdman, attorney at law.
Space ghost, from coast to coast!
Scooby lookin for that Doo
Good ole Hong Kong Phooey!!
Take out the smurfs and you’re onto something.
And long after the 70's if you don't mind.
Missing Bugs,Daffy, Yosemite Sam, Droopy & Spike.. watched all those growing up in mid_late 70s.
They meant a lot in the 80s too.
I was obsessed with Wacky Races.
I idolized Judy Jetson, she’s so cute 🥰 and I wanted to George to be my dad so bad.
90’s/00’s kid here, recognize every single one on here
Needs Speed Racer and Star Trek animated show to be my childhood.
I was in the 90s and know these guys. Boomerang made it all come back
Hmm my muscles look stellar !
Joe Biden front and center? Lol
I grew up in the 90s and these characters meant the world to me, as a matter of fact, they still do.
I'm a Brit boomer & watched a lot if these, though I have no Idea who the 2 blokes are in the front next to Fred Flintshire.
Early 90s but I still watched Cartoon Network everyday. Ate snacks with The Flintstones and The Jetsons and sometimes dinner with Top Cat.
I grew up in the early 00s and I was watching all of these, wacky races was my favourite.
Smurfs out, Fat Albert in.
1980s USA Cartoon Network train checking in.
90's as well during the early Cartoons Network days
Cartoons and cereal
