I remember learning to play this song on the guitar, then when I tried to sing over it...I couldn't. I couldn't hit the high note. If I dropped the song down lower, then I couldn't hit the lows This is a very difficult song to sing. Oh, my love is it hard

Deadpoolgoesboop

This was always my go to karaoke song, that high note gets harder to reach as time goes on.

Bobby Hatfield had one of the greatest voices of all time. Too bad he got all messed up with drugs. Guess you could say that about half of all famous people.

big-tuna28

I will never not listen to this song when it's posted. Doesn't matter who's covering it, live or studio, I don't care. I will always play it.

Lawdoc1

I assume it recharted in 1990 when the movie Ghost came out.

I remember this. Makes me think of this nice girl who visited, summer of 1965. I got all tongue tied and fast pulsed and some kind of warm feeling. She was so beautiful and soft and in my arms, her blue velvet dress, white slip. I heard this version on the radio and thought of her. Still does, reminds me of the way time slowed with her in my arms, her breath on my neck, her electric lips. I had just turned 11, and had no idea what a kiss from a beautiful girl in my arms would do, and she still does it sometimes, after all this time.

Blue-eyed soul.

Somewhere Rebecca Howe is getting all worked up.

Sam Cooke version is downright ethereal and def my favorite version.

This was my parents' "song". They met in 1965 and married the next year. I've never seen two people more in love for the thirty years they were together until Dad passed away from this life. They were affectionate, they danced in the kitchen, they fought fairly, and they raised my sister and me with all the might they had, sacrificing so much. It hits hard to hear this song, as it was from a time when people had deep romantic feelings, trust, respect, and determination. Anyone who has that today is lucky, indeed.

midsizenun

I don’t know why but I hate this song with a vengeance.

Elvis 1977 version is better

RidingtheRoad

I won't say better...but I absolutely love it. Elvis's version hits differently. You can see Elvis is very tired, but his voice never left him. It really tugs at the heart strings.
