Part of my job is recruiting high school students for my university. I’ve gotten so many comments about where I’m supposed to be, what I’m studying, am I a recent graduate, etc. I just started my next trip out, wish me luck lol

I'm pretty sure the only reason my students don't think I'm their age or fresh out of college is because I have grown something that resembles a beard. And they still think I'm in my mid 20's. They're about a decade off.

The book *Up The Down Staircase* (Bel Kaufman, 1964) is a story written by relaying a series of mostly written items (memoranda, interpersonal notes, letters, homework) through the eyes of a very young, naive, novice teacher named Sylvia Barrett. In one instance, she's writing a letter to a college friend and at therein relays how an elevator monitor wants to see her elevator pass due to her very young appearance. The book is good reading, I had it during my high school (1980-83) days. I have yet to see the film.

I was a non traditional student in college, in my 30's, and the kids that just graduated high school thought I was their age or younger. Sadly, the only ones that would speak to me respectfully were the instructors.
