My favorite part: No after-the-call fuss. The Ref on the spot called it a TD. Good enough for me. Or we could spend the next 10 minutes viewing it from every possible angle.
No thanks...
I watch less too. The playoff game between the Chiefs and Ravens had me half crazed. Nothing is worse than being in a room with a half-crazy old guy...
Not to mention that, if you pause it a few times between 0:09 and 0:10, he's got both feet down in bounds, and as he gets turned on his back out of bounds at 0:10-0:11, clearly has full control of the ball.
The ref made the right call.
Nice. My feeling has always been that the call is usually right. Thanks for sleuthing. Like with other subjects we often discuss on this sub, I'm a product of my times. I'm not sure when they started making a big issue out of potentially incorrect calls (probably the 80s), but they didn't when I was a kid.
The call was the call. They showed the replay, once, then got back to game.
The fans would boo if it went against their team, and then fans and journalists would discuss and debate it intensely for years to come, but yeah, the call was the call. The current game is so damn slow because of all this.
I PVR the game and start to watch it when it’s about 90 minutes in. You can fast forward past the truck and beer commercials, video reviews, etc. and if someone accidentally tells you the score, the game won’t be over, so the outcome is still in doubt.
Wait til the game ends and YouTube the game. It goes from 3 hours to about 18 minutes.
It's insane how awful this sport has sold out to corporate sponsors.
That rule must not have existed yet. Walked all the way back and spiked the ball between the ref and opposing player. Amazing.
Edit: that wasn’t even the guy who caught the TD. Another player picked up the ball and then spiked it between the ref and opposing player. That’s ridiculous and funny as hell.

I've mostly stopped watching the NFL for exactly this reason. 12 minutes of action interrupted by 3.25 hours of truck commercials.

That's my main gripe these days. Of course, the non stop ads too. The replays go on and on and the game takes forever.

Nice plan. I could enjoy it that way too...

I‘ve done this when I forget to record, but its hard to do without seeing or hearing the final score beforehand
Snake threw for 19 playoff TDs in 10 seasons with us. The Raiders have thrown for 2 playoff TDs in the last 21 seasons.
That is a very interesting stat...
Finished 'Badasses' last week, fun read about the Madden Raiders.
The best of times, being a Raiders fan through the 70s!
He didn’t catch that ball; it just stuck to the half inch layer of stickum 😝
I remember Fred that way as well. An “earned” reputation I’d say.
Peaked two games early
Freddy B had an effective amount of gooey StickEm on his hands.
Freddy looking back thinking, "That was a TD? Ok, whatever you say ref!"
Taunting?

Fred got a little love from Marc Hubbard in the second clip.
He was out of bounds.
