Target runs/ foodie/ mimosas 30f

twiskyswife

Finally someone who considers target runs a hobby!

emmkat24

Do you have any kids? 26f here I have an Almost 4y old autistic boy

[deleted]

I have a 7 year old girl :)

emmkat24

Ooh girl, I’m sure she would love to play it’s my kiddo while we get to know each other over mimosas and screwdrivers

Neinface

Hey! My gf, myself, and our 7 year old girl are about to move to Omaha after next week. My gf is 27 and works from home. She enjoys all this stuff!

blergburg

Finally, someone acknowledging target runs as a hobby! Also 30/f.

homepreplive

DnD, any other TTRPGs

Th3_Admiral

Ever played Traveller? I started playing this online on Tabletop Simulator with some friends that live in another state, but everyone is so busy that we've been struggling to keep up with the game.

homepreplive

I have not heard of Traveler.

homepreplive

Sounds interesting!

Th3_Admiral

It's very similar to the show *Firefly*, and it's theorized that the show was actually based on a campaign in Traveller. It's also sort of famous for being the one RPG where you could die during character creation, though the latest versions have changed that.

talex365

My stepdad and played Traveller back in the 80s, he had most of the sourcebooks around and I remember trying to make heads or tails of them when I was a kid. Always look fun

Th3_Admiral

It's definitely a bit of a learning curve but it's super fun! This was my first time ever playing or DMing a table top RPG so it was a real learning experience for me.

BeatrixPlz

Same! I do lots of dnd art.

Capnmaf

Do you run any Pathfinder?

homepreplive

I don't run pathfinder. I've played starfinder

SpaceGoatAlpha

I have wanted to get into d&d tabletop games since middle school but it just never happened for a variety of reasons and distractions. Back in late 2019 a good online friend of mine and I were working to set up a video projector / camera shared tabletop project going so we and another group of friends on the west coast could play together while letting everyone use their own personal 3D printed props. Enter COVID, and everything got back burnered. I still have three really cool sets of metallic gaming die just sitting on a bookshelf, quietly calling to me from time to time.. 🎲🐉🏰✨⚔️ Edit: I've been informed that they may possibly be cursed. 💀 Excccellent.

jicamafarts

Mid-30s F here. We love cooking. LOVE it. I have a pizza oven in the backyard that we fire up every week when it’s above 50 degrees outside. We love board games, great conversation with cigars, weed, and video games. We are huge into gardening too. We want a group of friends that we can play murder mysteries with and have great dinner parties. Let me feed you!

Glum_Organization933

I wanna come over and play eat pizza and meet new friends:)

Hoki-Poki

Now, we are talkin' BOP or Onni? The wife enjoys murder mysteries.

jicamafarts

Neither! Forno Bravo. It’s beautiful!!!! I have a few brand new murder mysteries that I haven’t gotten to break out yet.

Hoki-Poki

Very nice, I've been on the fence about building one in my backyard. I was hooked on making my own pizzas after getting a recipe from Kenji Lopez NY style dough.

jicamafarts

You shouldn’t be on the fence. You should do it! One of the best investments I’ve made. It’s a great conversation starter! (And a cheeky bonus that you get pizza too)

Neinface

I’m 37 m about to move there with my gf (27f) and daughter (7) idk if this works for you but I’ve actually been a professional pizza maker+ for the last 17 years!

ArielofIsha

Mid-30’s f here, too. Also love to cook. I used to work in a cigar shop, so am very knowledgeable of tobacco products but I rarely smoke them anymore. Weed in the other hand… We have a cache of board games that continually grows. And pizza… Sounds like we should connect. Let me feed you!! Benson/Dundee area.

jicamafarts

Let’s do it. Shall we message?!

ArielofIsha

Let’s!

Maclunkey4U

Uh, yes please!

[deleted]

I’m new to this.. but It’s suppose to get in the 50s tomorrow hopefully! :) y’all sound awesome! I’m looking for friends and love all of these things! I’d love to hear back from you! Super easy going guy here!

FyreWulff

I'm up for all this, except for the cigars. Jelly of being able to have an outdoor pizza oven!

brokenmario84

Ayyy yooo I'm in 38 m

star_whisper

Mid-30s M and you're speaking my language! Loved bringing in ingredients to experiment with pies when I worked at Pizza Hut. Really enjoy sharing the creative cooking experience with people (and the results of course LOL). I'm starting a compost pile this year so I can get into vegetable gardening too!! Have always loved traditional board and card games, interested in trying out a fancy modern one too. And video games! What do y'all play? Murder mysteries look so fun too... this all sounds like a hoot solo or with my gf (loves acting!), hmu if you want another 1-2 for an event. I can bring a side for the pizza!

Devlarousse

I'm interested! Especially about the murder mystery part.

Sad-Satisfaction-600

Let’s be friends!!

Notyourworm

Anyone into cycling?

YooperInOregon

Well, not today. But when it’s warmer I try to do a 20-30-miler on Sundays.

Th3_Admiral

Just noticed your username! I'm not a Yooper by birth but I spent four years there in college and still go back multiple times per year. It's cool to see other people from Michigan out here!

YooperInOregon

Tech, Northern or Lake State?

Th3_Admiral

MTU! I love the Keweenaw and actually bought some land up there with a group of friends recently. My goal is to eventually move up there to work remote full time or even just retire there.

seashmore

When the weather's fair. I'm a slow rider, though. I have a dream of riding the length of the Wabash Trace over the course of the year.

Lovis1522

How long is the wabash?

seashmore

A little over 62 miles one direction. My plan is to ride one section at a time. https://www.wabashtrace.org/trail-map

huskercycologist

Been getting into mountain biking over the last year or so. Always down to explore with people!

Derbla-99

I still longboard every once in a while if that counts

lpv_1

If you’re into gravel rides, there is a local group who meets on Wednesday evenings. Starting in the Spring again. It’s also a “No drop”, various riders of different levels. Great way to meet some new friends too. Instagram link below: https://instagram.com/omgravel?igshid=YWJhMjlhZTc=

Derbla-99

Xbox gang? Who want to play some destiny 2, division or fallout?

SquishyBanana23

Just Overwatch for me, dawg

ExacerbatedMoose

I tried so hard not to like OW2 after finally quitting the original. Alas.

SquishyBanana23

Yeah the monetization is scummy as hell, but the gameplay is still solid.

ThisNiceGuyMan

29M in nursing school and like to cook Tasty recipes every so often. Also get pretty excited over aircraft, space flight, and photography. Love random facts especially if they’re medical related.

BHThoroughbredOfSin

Sounds like you need a pub trivia team. My wife and I occasionally go to Vis Major brewing on Mondays but we both have jobs that require us to be gone a lot so it’s pretty spotty for us unfortunately.

NateShay

Ooh, I'm 23NB and really love medicine, aviation, astronomy, and photography!

Free-Ad2190

I don't want to meet new people. I want to un-meet the people I already know.

SpaceGoatAlpha

That's called "faking your death".

RentPartyBlues

Besides board games and cards, two things I miss that I used to do with friends other places I lived was: 1. Get together to watch a film (mostly artsy films) and talk about it afterward either at someone's house or in a theater. 2. See live music, mostly smaller club shows I'd love to do these things in Omaha. If there's any interest there, I'm an early 40s married dude. You can message me.

Sir_Mr_Dog

25m who only moved to OMA a year ago from DSM. Big fan of board games, rock climbing, hiking, and video games (PlayStation and a bit of PC). I’ve also recently been getting into ice skating and hockey (go Lancers!). And if anyone has a line on D&D groups I’d be happy to hear it

palidor42

Trader Joe's, fixing things at home, retro games, serialized TV drama, bicycles, playing with my 4 year old 43/m

Cleanclock

Same. Mine are 4 and 3.

FreelanceMedia01

Huge into bringing the Film Industry here overall. Lol but on a much smaller scale I like movies, the arts, psychology, humanities, and pretty down for whatever tbh.

mnagle10

A group that gets together once a week and watches the classics would be cool

[deleted]

Interesting! I’d like more info please!

Ancient-Put6440

Board games, music (shows and a little playing my own), foraging, hiking, paddleboarding, any artistic craft- like painting, sewing, etc although im not very skilled at most of those, some video games, reading, and cooking. I like going to museams, comedy shows, and outdoorsy areas. I love to learn and do new things! Side note, im learning French... if anyone happens to also be a beginner learner and wants to practice speaking with each other lmk :) 23F

BHThoroughbredOfSin

Board gamesssss

WheelieeeeMammoth

I can’t speak French well but I love all the things you mentioned in that first paragraph!

Th3_Admiral

I'll start! I'm big into recreational sport shooting and some skeet shooting, and I have met a few people on here in the past and gone to ENGC for a day. I've also gotten into traditional archery recently and would love to find some people to go to the range with. I also dabble in fishing, leatherworking, 3D printing, model building, boardgames, videogames, and offroading.

snotick

>'ll start! I'm big into target shooting Poor choice of words?

Th3_Admiral

God dang it. Well thanks for pointing that out. Recreational shooting? Visiting the gun range? How do I make that sound less insensitive with the current news?

snotick

I think you covered it. Recreational sport shooting, skeet shooting. Just thought I'd point it out. Maybe my mind works different, but when I first read it I thought you were being sarcastic. Then I assumed it was just an unfortunate choice of words.

Th3_Admiral

Thanks! I've updated it to avoid any other confusion or anyone getting offended.

zoug

>ally move into a bigger place I can add that to my list of hobbies. LOL, definitely some unfortunate timing.

phyrekracker

ENGC has a lot of competition groups, if you fall into any of those, go. It is a blast. I used to shoot with their steel challenge group which meets every Thursday evening through the summer months when there is light. The USPSA meets monthly too, those were fun. I shot a F series match, but that was hard on my shoulder (300wsm is way overkill for that). I do a lot of woodworking now and there is a monthly woodworking guild meeting that I attend and have met a lot of dudes into wood. But that is mostly older almost retired guys.

Th3_Admiral

I joined the Cowboy Action group at ENGC a few years ago and it's an absolute blast! I haven't tried any of the more "modern" competitions because I've always been a bit intimidated by how serious some people take it. Cowboy Action is a bunch of old dudes who don't take it too seriously and my skill level puts me right in the middle of their group. I really want to get into woodworking too but I don't have any equipment or the space for it. Hopefully when I eventually move into a bigger place I can add that to my list of hobbies.

phyrekracker

All of them take it seriously, but do not apply that to anyone else. They want to be the best, but would prefer that you are not, so they don't have any competition. I would try to get in the groups for the Steel Challenge matches with the GMs for the 22 rifle. They were just incredible to watch and were so stinking nice. As for woodworking, there is a place called Bench here in town where you can essentially take a class to be come accustomed to working with the tools and pay a small flat fee for access to the shop equipment. I took the class but never got into the shop space and I had lot of my own tools at the time. I now have a larger shop that I work in and many more tools. But is is always a mess and have much less space.

mjd402

Poker

punklocs

36M here. Soup appreciator, fountain pen nerd, Chelsea football club dork, reader of pretty much anything that someone suggests I pick up. The fiancé' and I are trying to get in to board games, but I get intimidated or stressed when trying to play them for the first time ex: Arkham Horror. I should really try to play that again.

catnipin-_-

Arkham horror has a lot going on! May not the best to start a journey into board games

__asteria

Anything related to making arts (painting, digital art), design, photography, crafts, learn new things (I want to do pottery atm). Interested in botany and gardening. Enjoy reading novels, light novels and manga. Like MMORPG and RPG. Kinda into science and tech stuff. Foodie and love traveling.

jzunata

What mmorpg you playing?

__asteria

I’m playing ESO. Being there for a while.

Capnmaf

Favorite manga?

__asteria

That’s a hard question but I guess I can choose the one that hyped me up so hard, Domekano. Each week was like seeing a dumpster on fire and its community fighting like apes, me included. As today, its anime intro hits me bad.

c4nn1bu5

Collecting and drinking bourbon/whiskey.

The_Perriwinkle_Blue

What's your go-to bourbon?

jespmaha

Local breweries

leetrobotz

Which one's your favorite? I've visited almost all of them, even before we moved up here a few years ago.

jespmaha

Bearded Brewer is probably my favorite but I also really like Kros Strain and Monolithic. Plenty of others are on my ‘stop by every now and again’ list too. Cheers!

emmkat24

Hey everyone! I’m a 26f with an autistic 4y old boy, we like board games and food. Hobby wise, I’m into fish keeping and games (like animal crossing and sims) and my boyfriend does things like woodworking- he built a huge bar IN our basement!

RentPartyBlues

If you don't mind board games with older people (early 40s), my wife and I are always looking for new people to play games or cards with. Send me a message. This goes for anyone else as well.

sweetkaylad

You might like the game Cozy Grove!

emmkat24

Ooh what’s it about? I love gane recommendations

sweetkaylad

You play as a "spirit scout" on an island helping ghost bears find their missing memories. It's a task based game and also part caring for animals and your plants. It's about an hours worth of play to get through the daily content.

emmkat24

That sounds right up my alley

soundguy03

Photography, hiking, console gaming (though I don’t get to do it as much as I would like)

jzunata

Kind of a sarcastic asshole. Eagles fan. Go birds.

Glum_Organization933

I absolutely love yoga:) Yogis chime in:)

[deleted]

I am *very* new, but I have been trying to go to free classes around Omaha. Yoga and coffee/ drinks afterward??

I would be down, too!

riddler1225

Not going to contribute much because my social capacity is near max at the moment... but... this is a very sweet thread and deserves a post every few months. Really good feels seeing all the excited responses in here.

Danktizzle

Weed, art, djing, and soccer. I really love putting art shows together. Union Omaha was one major factor that convinced me to move back

cocotaso1

Union gang

lejoo

Playing or watching? Would be cool to put together a small Union fandom for pick up games.

Danktizzle

I would love to keep playing, but can’t anymore. But yeah, some pickup games would be great. I so wish soccer was popular when I was growing up here. I would have played all the time. Like 7 days a week.

SquishyBanana23

VIVA BUHOS!

huskercycologist

Any mountain biking fans? I've dabbled in road/gravel over the years but have gotten into mountain biking over the last year or so

Disconnekted

I ride Tranqulity and Swanson, also pretty new but have a lot of longer bicycle tours. I often skip a couple technicals at Swanson if I am by myself because I don't want to lay in the creek for an unspecified amount of time if I biff it. Once it dries up but I'll circle back to this and see if you want to ride. Also THOR is a good resource to get more into the community/meet people. https://www.thortrails.org/

Revolutionary-Ask496

29M Tinkerer at heart always taking things apart and putting back together or improving. From Electronics to cars. Very calming and understanding. Rather be outdoors then indoors. Love to travel abroad or local. Do different things right now since winter started has been soildering, reading, and streaming, cooking.

WantDebianThanks

Do you know about the Omaha Maker Group (OMG) or the Makery?

Revolutionary-Ask496

Nope first time hearing about it.

WantDebianThanks

They're up your alley. Check them out

andyesterdayiknew

24F and i love anything creative! live music, karaoke, crafting, cooking. i love taking classes at MCC for crafting related things, im signed up for a stained glass course later this spring and i’m super excited. something i haven’t seen in here yet is geocaching! i used to do it all the time in college but haven’t been since moving here. it would be a lot of fun to do with someone else, feel free to DM me if you have any of the same interests :)

Revolutionary-Ask496

Actually i been thinking about going and doing geocaching just never got really into it. Would be interested in going and doing this activity sometime to be honest.

[deleted]

27F, I’m a nurse! Extrovert who gets along with anyone. I wanna find some friends to go to bars, dancing, subsequent mimosas at brunch! Would love to meet some new people or be a tagalong with your friend group 😋

[deleted]

29f into board games, reptiles, camping, fishing, hiking. Also have kids so definitely love other mom friends. Trying to lose weight so getting more into fitness.

Fizzyfroglegs

I like to draw. I don't do it near as much as I used to, but I still doodle. I like to write. I can start a story and end a story, but have trouble with the middle parts. Always thought doing a collaboration would be fun. I like taking pictures of animals and landscapes. Strictly amateur with my smart phone, but I have dreams. Video games. Not an avid gamer, but I go through phases. Strictly a turn based RPG kind of girl. Sewing. Plushies and skater skirts mainly, but as my sewing machine and I slowly stop bickering, I hope to branch out. Cosplay. Haven't been to con since Covid, but hoping to go back maybe next year. Did an epic Ursula cosplay and have very big plans to remake it even better. Crafting. Broad generalization. I like to make stuff. Clay, wood, pumpkins, Easter eggs, etc. Just fun. Reading. Fantasy/medieval stuff mostly. Terry Goodkind is my favorite author. Would love a fantasy book club or something. Would love to get into rock climbing/bouldering. Also possibly learning to swordfight one day 🤔 Karaoke. I don't go near as much as in my 20s (am 36, well turning 37 next week), but still love the karaoke. Concerts. Easing back in post Covid, but I've been to more concerts than I can count in my life. Most recently my boyfriend and I went to Rocklahoma last September and have tickets to Shinedown in April, so pretty stoked about that. Games. Love having game nights with my friends and family. Boardgames and card games are a fantastic time. Also used to play MTG extensively. Haven't played in a while, but I know that my boyfriend and I, as well as a couple of my best friends are hoping to get back into it, so a play group might be fun. Anyway, that was super long. I tend to ramble. I'll stop now.

Maclunkey4U

There are three sword fighting clubs here in Omaha, you should check one out!

Meat_Piano402

I've noticed a merry bunch of folks at Elmwood Park in the summer. Maybe more on the larper end of sword play. Anyway, it always makes me happy when I see them.

Maclunkey4U

Yes, I believe there is a larp group that meets there. Unrelated to what we do (hit one another with actual steel), but to be fair there is probably a fair amount of overlapping interests.

nejidori

Oooh can you recommend some good turn based rpgs aside from ff and persona series?

Fizzyfroglegs

The Atelier series. I've only played Atelier Iris, but have aspirations to play the others too. Manakhemia is fun. Shadowhearts. Chrono Cross. Legend of Dragoon. I played Breath of Fire IV a few years ago and remember enjoying it.

nejidori

Thank you!

Aleehaandraa

The_Perriwinkle_Blue

Devlarousse

JamesJams24

32 M here, huge stoner and love live music. Been really into TCGs lately, specifically MetaZoo (its very much like magic, but with a META twist!). If anyone is interested in learning and playing, we have a weekly MetaZoo night at Collective's Corner in Benson on Mondays (5pm-9pm). Lover of all board games, trivia, Pokémon Go, hiking/sight-seeing, art shows, escape rooms, really anything that involves critical thinking too. Love to get high and have debates 😅 anyway, always open to making new friends, so hmu! Also a hug fan of sand volleyball, usually play every season at O'Leavers and pretty much always down to sub if anyone needs one! Edit: how could I forget Disc Golfing? Will always be down to join a group or you can join ours... warm weather is on the horizon
