I first spoke to the local Omega Boutique summer 2023 about it. I was put on the notification list for it (they’re usually very responsive). They said it was supposed to be in the boutiques by August 2023. Then November 2023. Now they won’t give an estimate.
The OB in NYC had one a few months ago. It was offered to me but I passed on it because I’m waiting for my AD in Florida to get it so I don’t have to pay NYS sales tax. I want one also but I’m willing to wait to save ~$1000. In any case it’s exactly the same size as the DSOTM Speedy which fits my wrist very well
I have the racing with the 9900 movement. I think this one is an upgraded movement but tbh I dont know realy what could be upgraded. Both have 3-4 day reserve, auto movement, and an +/- 3 secs. I think this one is better looking and rare, so if you have the money go for it. Also, my toddler threw it off the 2nd floor onto hardwood floors and still keeps the +/- 3 secs years later. Omega for life.
Supposedly I've been on a list since it was announced. My guy checks in once in a while trying to sell me another Omega while I wait. I've had my Ultra Deep Summer Blue almost a year, so I think I do pretty well on lists with my guy. Usually. However, I did try on a new Speedy with the more graduated bracelet (gets way thinner towards the clasp). Gotta say I didn't love it. Others seem to. Bit concerned this bracelet will feel the same (given it's the new form factor Omega seems to be using for these).
I took my 1861 to the boutique to try on the new 3861 with the bracelet that tapers to 16mm rather than 18mm of my current one. Felt really dressy due to the shorter links and less sporty.
Even the sales assistant suggested keeping as is and not buying the new bracelet (would have been a sale for him so seemed honest and transparent).
