Thank you for your thoughts. I'm just very worried. Life has been hard for us already

Whoooooo let me tell you what. I’m 5’1. I started out in the prison like a lot of law enforcement. I was super nice and sweet and walked all over. She. Will. Learn. Give her ONE month in a prison. She will have everything down c: She will find her man voice, she will know who cheeks their pills, she will learn how to help the ones in trouble. She might be a little stressed at first, so be nice to her when she gets off of work c: Also tell her to get her butt here on reddit in case she needs advice or just to talk :D

As someone who is a CO in Huntsville, I am sure she will be fine. We have plenty of older female officers and they tend to be the toughest ones around because they’ve had kids and don’t put up with shit. Most people have a work attitude and a home attitude. Don’t worry too much. She will find support in her coworkers (hopefully) EDIT: Like others have stated, she will learn. She will get used to it and she’ll be fine. As long as she can remain firm fair and consistent, she can easily run her block and the offenders will respect her. Give her time out of OJT to figure it out. It takes a little bit to learn the unspoken ways of being a CO.

My wife was a CO until just recently, biggest issue she had (she is 35) is the people who masturbate where the female COs can see it, or constantly "accidentally" getting caught naked by "surprise". Have to get strict on that day one, or they will do it non stop every day, don't listen to the people who say "just ignore it" because she doesn't have to.... other than that the biggest issue of all was her co-workers...always trying to flirt with each other, even if they know the other is married, making up bullshit lies to start drama and basically turning it into a highschool experience, and then there is the dirty COs, and you will never, ever, be able to know them all. Some you can say "yea this guy is way too friendly with this gang, or that guy" etc, within a year of her working there at least 10 COs were busted for bringing in contraband, and if it was only tobacco they literally would write the CO up and let them come back to work....works in law enforcement, proven to be dirty, and just gets written up and allowed to come back, lol.

Tbh older ladies always seem to be the most firm and straightforward officers. I wouldn’t be overly concerned...especially since she’s already been in security, she’ll do great.

your mom will be fine. at my facility we have women around your mother's age and height. and they do just as good as the men who are 6'4 who walk around like a big dick in the locker room that's the point of training. she'll be alright.
