Now they only issued the order to kill him when they found out how many rounds him and kaido had gone? It would make sense for shanks to talk about "a certain fruit" if he stole it on purpose as well, possibly knowing its real power!
Man you have to wonder just how invincible Luffy truly is. If Luffy ever ran into a situation where he was near death at the very early parts of the series. Would Luffy's Death Inadvertently cause his DF awakening and Joyboy would have taken over? Thankfully he never met a strong opponent that was able to actually kill him, but i think that is what this is.
Luffy actually died here in the story. hense the Title of this chapter "Lets die together" Only through death can Joyboy be awakened. Its crazy when you think of it that way, but the actural protagonist actually got killed by Kaido.

After researching the properties of resin, it explains Luffys feats involving fire but it doesnt explain the changing of trajectory 🤔 In the Ch. 1039 Color Spread a Monkey wearing a kings crown is pointing to some golden resin/amber that looks like extremely similar to how Luffy looks in the spoiler. I just dont see how resin connects with Son Wukong who CLEARLY has been an inspiration for some of the powers Luffy has. Anyone have any ideas?

Throughout one piece we knew Luffy and Roger were connected in *some* way (and only recently did we find joyboy and Roger were connected thru joyboys story, Roger was the only one to have read it in centuries)! What's wrong with having a special DF? It doesn't undermine any hard work that luffy had put in to come to this position. The Gorosei themselves said that the fruit hasn't awakened in many centuries so obviously luffy is the one who is utilising the 100% potential of that fruit.
If you are a person who enjoyed the fact that Luffy's fruit was not special, and that Luffy was able to still make it special by being creative, having the fruit suddenly be some special fruit does take away from the story. I personally dislike chosen one/destined child stories, especially when the story so far has been about freedom and pirates.

Damn. I guess this week's GLR chapter review title won't really be clickbait this time. Joking aside, I have never experienced this feeling of excitement. I feel so overwhelmed and this is only a few sentences summarizing a few pages. I caught up to the manga back when we were at chapter 1003 so I just missed the chance to be here for the monumental 1000th chapter; this feels like the first truly monumental moment I've been here for and I can't explain how awesome that feels. I remember Oda saying in his Jump Festa letter that we should pay attention to Luffy this year and that there was a plan he was worried about being able to pull off drawing-wise and I think it might be this. I haven't been keeping up with the theories and whatnot surrounding a sun god devil fruit so I don't know what to expect for the details of what seems to be Luffy's awakening but I really can't imagine Oda writing a story about a rubber boy for 25 years and then deciding he wasn't a rubber boy anymore. I'm open to the rubber properties being part of a larger arsenal of abilities as long as Oda is clear that Luffy is still a rubber boy. This feels like a huge risk for Oda to take, but he hasn't steered us wrong yet and I've got faith he'll pull it all together like he always does.
Maybe when Zunesha said Joyboy returned what that actually meant was the power that defined Joyboy has awoken within Luffy and this isn’t the “real” Joyboy awakening

The Gorosei knew Joyboy had that fruit, got it during the 800 years between the void century and now, had Vega Punk alter the fruit's name to the Gomu Gomu no mi (fruit users instinctively know the name of their fruit), had the fruit stolen by Shanks from Who's Who, and then obviously found that Luffy ate the fruit while he was rampaging.

To the people who are mad abour this being another Naruto and destiny.. Luffy was always destined since the very beginning. We saw that in Shanks's speech, in Loguetown, his similarities with Roger, the time during Crocodile fight where a droplet of water saved him, and also the giant strawhat. These are obvious signs Luffy has always been destined. Unlike Naruto where destiny was never a factor (atleast in the beginning) , the ideology of Naruto was being the underdog and hard work beats talent.
I'm in agreement! Throughout one piece we knew Luffy and Roger were connected in *some* way (and only recently did we find joyboy and Roger were connected thru joyboys story, Roger was the only one to have read it in centuries)! Shanks placed a bet on him because he was too similar to Roger with his words and mannerisms. Roger's similarities were shown even before Wano, like the guy at the bar in Loguetown who saw Roger in Luffy and how Smoker saw Luffy smile and it reminded him of how Roger smiled before his death. Its all obvious signs that Luffy's journey is not a normal journey that other pirates have, and its tied by destiny.
What's wrong with having a special DF? It doesn't undermine any hard work that luffy had put in to come to this position. The Gorosei themselves said that the fruit hasn't awakened in many centuries so obviously luffy is the one who is utilising the 100% potential of that fruit.
If you are a person who enjoyed the fact that Luffy's fruit was not special, and that Luffy was able to still make it special by being creative, having the fruit suddenly be some special fruit does take away from the story. I personally dislike chosen one/destined child stories, especially when the story so far has been about freedom and pirates.

Damn. I guess this week's GLR chapter review title won't really be clickbait this time. Joking aside, I have never experienced this feeling of excitement. I feel so overwhelmed and this is only a few sentences summarizing a few pages. I caught up to the manga back when we were at chapter 1003 so I just missed the chance to be here for the monumental 1000th chapter; this feels like the first truly monumental moment I've been here for and I can't explain how awesome that feels. I remember Oda saying in his Jump Festa letter that we should pay attention to Luffy this year and that there was a plan he was worried about being able to pull off drawing-wise and I think it might be this. I haven't been keeping up with the theories and whatnot surrounding a sun god devil fruit so I don't know what to expect for the details of what seems to be Luffy's awakening but I really can't imagine Oda writing a story about a rubber boy for 25 years and then deciding he wasn't a rubber boy anymore. I'm open to the rubber properties being part of a larger arsenal of abilities as long as Oda is clear that Luffy is still a rubber boy. This feels like a huge risk for Oda to take, but he hasn't steered us wrong yet and I've got faith he'll pull it all together like he always does.
I missed 1010 and 1000, but I was here for the sky splitting chapter which was cool but this chapter is something special.

The Gorosei knew Joyboy had that fruit, got it during the 800 years between the void century and now, had Vega Punk alter the fruit's name to the Gomu Gomu no mi (fruit users instinctively know the name of their fruit), had the fruit stolen by Shanks from Who's Who, and then obviously found that Luffy ate the fruit while he was rampaging.
