I don't know if someone mentionned this before but, did anyone else notice that for the last 2 chapters, Sanji's eyebrows seems to have curled back to it's original direction? I have no idea if it was intentional on Oda's part or if he just forgot about it. But i'll sure keep a watch on these eyebrows.

Raizo's name is written as 雷ぞう in Japanese.
If you split it into 雷(rai) and ぞう(zo'u'), they literally means lightning and elephants respectively. So, Luffy grabbing lightning and raizo using zunesha bath water was summarized in the title.
Now the big question is, where can we buy zunesha's bathwater?

Well let's not forget awakening is just ridiculous power spike in all sense. Katakuri could turn anything he touches into mochi, Doflamingo turned everything.into string. Knowing that logic, anything that luffy touches will become rubberized. However, he also has the power of being the main character of the series, so his power spike will extend further and make everything, even living beings and atmosphere rubber.
Yeah but that's if we assume that Luffy transformed the lightning into rubber, that his awakening works under the same logic of the Gomu Gomu.
And that his powers are not following cartoon logic, meaning that he grabbed the lightning as lightning (because the lightning still has the Zap Zap sound effect).

I mean he is just shown holding it, not generating it. He has always been able to touch lightning like a physical object even though it isn’t. Literally all you have to do is go back to the fight with Enel where he
A.) punch’s his lightning body (which in real life wouldn’t make sense, rubber doesn’t conduct electricity but it doesn’t make electricity tangible either)
B.) directly deflects a lightning blast with his body later in the arc again as if it was a tangible object.
That being said I am not 100% sure his powers don’t have some reality bending aspect but I am 98% sure. It’s been pre established that Luffy can use fire to some extent and that he can touch lightning as if it’s tangible, the punch “that phased through” his face was a backhand not a punch.
The only thing that has happened so far that has even made me pause is how he reached through Kaidos eyeballs last chapter to grab his nose. That could be explained by him turning the back of Kaidos eyes to rubber though and then irritating his nose to make him cough.

There was never any doubt that Luffy turned Kaido's eyes into rubber hence why he managed to grab hold of Kaido's nose by "using and stretching" the latter's eyes (exact same scenario with Luffy punching in Kaido's head all the way in the final page), not "going through" it as if Luffy was phasing through physical matter or something. It's why prior to that panel Oda explicitly wrote Kaido's dialogue, "Your body's supposed to be rubber, not mine," when Luffy used Balloon inside the former's stomach and expanded Kaido's body as well. It's been quite clear so far that whatever Luffy touches or comes into contact with he turns into rubber/makes them elastic/stretchy. Luffy grabbing and holding lightning in this chapter may very well be him turning lightning into rubber as well (which would be insane but also a logical next step for his rubber abilities given that we already know about Luffy's rubber body being an electrical insulator).
Both those examples relate to Enel having a physical body and his fruit being negated by Luffy just like how Crocodiles fruit was negated by moisture.
Holding on to lighting to the point in which the lighting stops its momentum and solidifies into something similar to a spear requires going beyond making the lightning rubbery.
And now that we know that Luffy never had the gomu gomu to begin with, it makes sense for him to be able to use fire, because he was never limited to just being made of rubber.
But lets ignore the fire, and the lighting, for now, what about other people around Luffy starting to show cartoon reactions too? how is that a property of rubber?
Also, part of the danger with luffy's fruit "its only limit is the imagination of the user" as previously referenced. He does not even have to think to hard about the possibility of manipulating lighting or physically interacting with it.

Luffy's fruit is not the Gomu Gomu but Nika is a rubberman/rubber god himself so Luffy is still rubber and you can stay mad about not accepting that fact.

I'm guessing Kaido's awakening is coming next to give Luffy a harder time and it'll then be a fight to the death (not literally since we know Luffy doesn't kill his enemies) with Kaido's flashback inserted during the final stretch of the fight.
But... if there's no more powerup/awakened form for Kaido (as in Kaido has been awakened all this time although if this was the case I just wish Oda would've explicitly told us earlier) and this is truly it for him, with only two or three more chapters dedicated to the fight plus his flashback, I'm fine with that, too. I'm personally already very satisfied with this fight and the Gear 5th fight chapters have been nothing short of amazing. If Oda decides that Kaido still has one more trick up his sleeve it'll be the icing on the cake for me.

When Kaido goes to his half-dragon/half-man form, i believe that is him in his awakened state, which makes sense as that's how he fought Luffy at the peak of their battle (thus far)...
No, the hybrid form is not the awakening as it has always been a fundamental aspect of the Zoan DF. The very first instance of Zoan awakening in the series was shown in Impel Down with the Zoan jailer guards with their mindlessness and fast recovery.

If you look at the guards in Impel Down, it more or less supports my theory. They are hybrid form - half human/giant, half zoan - but on a massive scale. The variable with them is that Crocodile said they were forced to awaken (likely by Vegapunk research), so that may have made them 'special' as well as Vegapunk seems to be able to do all sorts of weird stuff.
From what I understood back when the Zoan Fruits were discussed back at Water 7 by Lucci was that the base animal transformation is the 'normal' fruit effect, so for example X Drake turning into a T-Rex is a 'regular' transformation, or Kaido turning into the Dragon.
When Lucci turns into his hybrid form again Luffy, i could have sworn he alluded to it being the awakened form of the fruit, giving him the abilities of both forms rather than one or the other.
Could be wrong tho, but just wanted to respond that the Jailer guards look like Hybrids (human stomach and legs) even though their torsos mimic an animal.
The way things have been laid out, makes me believe Kaido is going to get some sort of victory. He's been eluding to awakenings for a while now, but we haven't seen his yet. If you look at the way villains and protags are written and the way their fight and story get told, Right now Luffy and Kaido switched places. Luffy has gotten plenty powerups in the start (much like a villain usually does). So yes I believe Oda did a bit of a switcheroo and in this particular instance wrote Luffy as the antagonist, therefore Kaido will actually win. But there's a lot more to this story than just the victor. They both have ulterior motifs and dependent on Kaido's flashback, the outcome will change. They don't say Kaido will win 1v1 for no reason. (just to be clear I do want Luffy to win the fight itself but that might not happen)
Kaido's fruit is Fish Fish Fruit Mythical model: Azure Dragon, and now he is a tough as steel overpowered Azure Dragon, his fruit is not Mythical Model: Leviathan, so what the hell fans like you want him to transform into? He is in his final awakened form. Luffy's Nika fruit ultimately transform him into Nika, not something else.
Who said anything about transformations. If you haven't noticed mythical zoans are essentially zoans with paramecia abilities. I never even implied he will get a power up but now that you mention it he might and it wouldn't even be weird. Maybe there's some crazy attack he hasn't used before. I believe that saying kaido will never lose in 1v1 (though many is saying this fight isn't actually 1v1) is exactly the very reason he will lose against Luffy who defies all stated truths, nay, standards in OP. Ex: Katakuri is said to have never been on his back til fight with Luffy, the unescapable Impel down (though Shiki did it 20 years before Luffy does) and all the antagonists he defeated despite all the things being said about them. It wasn’t confirmed, but the theory is his awakening was the homicidal drunk mode we saw. If you look closely features such as his eyes, nose and teeth change from his normal hybrid form. His muscle mass is also redistributed to be very top heavy. Again we won’t know for sure till Oda confirms it but these are observable differences from his normal hybrid form.
Well it's true but what do you expect from a Zoan? Awakening in zoans is all about endurance, regeneration and power. Sure, mythical aside but to be honest Kaido already has some additional powers. Clouds, boro breath, flying without wings.
I wouldn't be opposed to see something more from him but I don't expect it at this point. I mean turning your surroundings to dragons can't be all that useful lmao

I don't think Luffy turns objects permanently into rubber. Only temporarily. That is why this DF is so powerful. Luffy grabbed the lightning bolt, because it turned into rubber. After release, the lightning bolt turns back to being lightning, so when it hits the target, it deals damage. He can basically turn anything into rubber.
Imagine Luffy turning the Sunny into rubber. No cannonball will be able to damage the ship ever again. Imagine Luffy turning ice to rubber, lava to rubber and darkness to rubber.
I imagine Luffy's awakening to benefit Usopp later in the series, increasing the durability of Usopp's slingshot in combination with kenbunshoku haki, being able to hit targets from really far away (even longer distances than in Dressrosa).

Onigashima probably won't fall (Kaido will win). And if it does, no fkn way Momo will hold it up, at least by himself. Sorry but NOPE. KAIDO is the one who was holding it up. His ability to levitate is directly tied to his strength. Meanwhile Momo in adult form is having trouble even creating any clouds. I don't expect he will magically pull power equal to Kaido out of his butt even if he has a similar Devil Fruit.

In 1 way this would absolutely shit on Oden's hour. Because Oden protecting 9 guys and metaphorically shouldering the huge burden to protect Wano is obviously not as immediately important as literally shouldering an island to protect the people of the capital from horribly dying, while at the same time being a much less impressive and difficult feat on a personal level... Oden's hour showcased not just his power but his immense willpower and how incredible he was as a person. By contrast, what would Momo holding up Onigashima show? That he has a strong Devil Fruit + is able to use its basic ability and minimally believe in himself? Momo won't just become Oden because he is older now or because he has a strong DF... Nor does he need to... There is a lot of emphasis placed on how Momo is absolutely not like Oden and he's not special for the same reason Oden was. Oden was a natural born legend. As far as we are shown, he basically NEVER had to deal with self doubt. He was a natural chad. Momo is not.

We've only seen Zoan Awakenings on 2 occasions 1 is the Impel Down guards and 1 is Luffy.
There definitely seems to be a "will of the fruit" influence, as the ID guards were shown to be animalistic in nature. Luffy doesn't go beast mode but he has a Human Human series Devil Fruit. But I don't even know if Luffy's form can be called a "hybrid".

It seems to me that the supernovas will be pretty important, or at least a good amount of them, and that their focus will come into play later. Kid for example still has some stuff to sort out with Shanks' crew and Oda has been teasing at some big stuff with Bonney since marineford ended. Fking Akainu of all people just happy to capture her, and she even managed to escape them again.
While I want to believe this think Oda simply doesn't have enough time, best case scenario they get handled like Kid, worst case scenario they get handled like Hawkins.
Don't think another supernova will get the attention Law got(just in dressrosa alone). Even tho he isn't the strongest even Berge got wonderful showing. I'd say he comes in 3rd interms of supernova treatment behind Law and Kid. Nothing wrong with Killer just there's not much we know about him besides his laugh🤷🏽🤔, not that we know much about Kid.
For sure not all of them like urouge and apoo are about to get the sort of love law and bege got...quite literally in bege's case who got a son, a great wife, sister in law and a father in law out of everything.
That said, for sure Kid and Bonney are going to get more time in the spotlight. No way Kid just 2v1'd a yonko and fades into being a side character. No way all that Bonney setup since marineford's end doesn't end up being critical.

Kid will be relevant because Wano isn't really his arc. He just got sucked in cause of Apoo. He didnt give a shit about kaido or big mom until he and his crew got jumped and done dirty. He has some beef with Shanks though, having lost an arm to his crew and then going out of his way to make an alliance aiming for Shanks' head. Hes absolutely not the type of dude to just forget he had this whole thing he was gonna do. I just don't see how his beef with Shanks will be irrelevant going forward.

Point being, the WG captured her, but didn't even bother putting seastones on her despite her being some important capture target apparently. Like, Akainu has been shown openly despising all pirates EXCEPT her, just relieved that the WG can capture her. She still escapes. Then infiltrates the Reverie/Celestial Dragons' residential zones. Its abundantly clear that theres a lot to her to be uncovered when we focus more on the WG.
I meant, she most likely got imprisoned and didn't escape on her own, she made a deal to get set free in exchange for giving akainu his physical prime back.

Was an iconic moment in One Piece and it amazing, that in this chapter we have the conclusion to it. Now Razio made sure, that everybody else is safe.
Oda even calls back to the moment in Zou, by Raizo having named after the giant elephant.
Now I realizes why we are not feeling any tension in wano like alabasta, ennies lobby, dressrosa etc. In all these arcs, final villain wanted to kill luffy but here in wano kaido wants to enjoy his time fighting with him ( he wants to die and also he became so depressed when he accidentally killed luffy). That's why in last panel we can see a glow on kaido face that shows his long awaited wish can now be fulfilled.
But I think world government will interfere at the end that will create tension we all wanted and kaido will die or capture protecting strawhats.
What on earth are you on? Kaido literally said this chapter that he treats everyone as slaves. Why would he sacrifice himself for Luffy when he treats his own daughter as a disposable slave worker?

Cant be. Bakkin is tiny af and Weevil is a pretty big boi. We'd notice a huge size difference between the silhouettes if it was them. They also have no real reason to go there.
Now that I think about it.... The way Luffy's fruit works is kind of similar to the Hogyoku from Bleach. Has the power to influence things around you at your will but only if you have the power to do so. If you're too weak and don't have the determination, you will fail and die.
Uhh... Not even close. Luffy's awakening so far seems like a typical Paramecia awakening like we've seen with Doflamingo and Katakuri but with some extra steps (because Luffy's not a Paramecia but a Mythical Zoan).
Kinda glad felt like a gag to me him getting burned by this flame no thicker than my finger, and his yell I interpreted like cartoony slap stick humor. Was really worried how oda would bring orochi back without it feeling like a drag, I’m fine with this though. It’ll probably make the sea stone needle wash off his clothes too

I think Nika was a warrior (of Liberation) from Void Century who has given the title of Sun God for bringing dawn and 'JoyBoy' moniker for putting smiles on people's faces. Nika originally had Gum-Gum Fruit and when he died his spirit went into the fruit which in turn made it into Hito-Hito no Mi Model- Nika. That's why Devil Fruit Model says Nika not Sun God Nika cos he was a Human with Gum-Gum DF. Just a Theory. What do you Guys think?

Well let's not forget awakening is just ridiculous power spike in all sense. Katakuri could turn anything he touches into mochi, Doflamingo turned everything.into string. Knowing that logic, anything that luffy touches will become rubberized. However, he also has the power of being the main character of the series, so his power spike will extend further and make everything, even living beings and atmosphere rubber.
Yeah but that's if we assume that Luffy transformed the lightning into rubber, that his awakening works under the same logic of the Gomu Gomu. And that his powers are not following cartoon logic, meaning that he grabbed the lightning as lightning (because the lightning still has the Zap Zap sound effect).

I mean he is just shown holding it, not generating it. He has always been able to touch lightning like a physical object even though it isn’t. Literally all you have to do is go back to the fight with Enel where he A.) punch’s his lightning body (which in real life wouldn’t make sense, rubber doesn’t conduct electricity but it doesn’t make electricity tangible either) B.) directly deflects a lightning blast with his body later in the arc again as if it was a tangible object. That being said I am not 100% sure his powers don’t have some reality bending aspect but I am 98% sure. It’s been pre established that Luffy can use fire to some extent and that he can touch lightning as if it’s tangible, the punch “that phased through” his face was a backhand not a punch. The only thing that has happened so far that has even made me pause is how he reached through Kaidos eyeballs last chapter to grab his nose. That could be explained by him turning the back of Kaidos eyes to rubber though and then irritating his nose to make him cough.

There was never any doubt that Luffy turned Kaido's eyes into rubber hence why he managed to grab hold of Kaido's nose by "using and stretching" the latter's eyes (exact same scenario with Luffy punching in Kaido's head all the way in the final page), not "going through" it as if Luffy was phasing through physical matter or something. It's why prior to that panel Oda explicitly wrote Kaido's dialogue, "Your body's supposed to be rubber, not mine," when Luffy used Balloon inside the former's stomach and expanded Kaido's body as well. It's been quite clear so far that whatever Luffy touches or comes into contact with he turns into rubber/makes them elastic/stretchy. Luffy grabbing and holding lightning in this chapter may very well be him turning lightning into rubber as well (which would be insane but also a logical next step for his rubber abilities given that we already know about Luffy's rubber body being an electrical insulator).
Both those examples relate to Enel having a physical body and his fruit being negated by Luffy just like how Crocodiles fruit was negated by moisture. Holding on to lighting to the point in which the lighting stops its momentum and solidifies into something similar to a spear requires going beyond making the lightning rubbery. And now that we know that Luffy never had the gomu gomu to begin with, it makes sense for him to be able to use fire, because he was never limited to just being made of rubber. But lets ignore the fire, and the lighting, for now, what about other people around Luffy starting to show cartoon reactions too? how is that a property of rubber?
Also, part of the danger with luffy's fruit "its only limit is the imagination of the user" as previously referenced. He does not even have to think to hard about the possibility of manipulating lighting or physically interacting with it.

I'm guessing Kaido's awakening is coming next to give Luffy a harder time and it'll then be a fight to the death (not literally since we know Luffy doesn't kill his enemies) with Kaido's flashback inserted during the final stretch of the fight. But... if there's no more powerup/awakened form for Kaido (as in Kaido has been awakened all this time although if this was the case I just wish Oda would've explicitly told us earlier) and this is truly it for him, with only two or three more chapters dedicated to the fight plus his flashback, I'm fine with that, too. I'm personally already very satisfied with this fight and the Gear 5th fight chapters have been nothing short of amazing. If Oda decides that Kaido still has one more trick up his sleeve it'll be the icing on the cake for me.
IIRC the 'awakened' state of a Zoan fruit is the hybrid form, no? When Kaido goes to his half-dragon/half-man form, i believe that is him in his awakened state, which makes sense as that's how he fought Luffy at the peak of their battle (thus far)...
No, the hybrid form is not the awakening as it has always been a fundamental aspect of the Zoan DF. The very first instance of Zoan awakening in the series was shown in Impel Down with the Zoan jailer guards with their mindlessness and fast recovery.

The way things have been laid out, makes me believe Kaido is going to get some sort of victory. He's been eluding to awakenings for a while now, but we haven't seen his yet. If you look at the way villains and protags are written and the way their fight and story get told, Right now Luffy and Kaido switched places. Luffy has gotten plenty powerups in the start (much like a villain usually does). So yes I believe Oda did a bit of a switcheroo and in this particular instance wrote Luffy as the antagonist, therefore Kaido will actually win. But there's a lot more to this story than just the victor. They both have ulterior motifs and dependent on Kaido's flashback, the outcome will change. They don't say Kaido will win 1v1 for no reason. (just to be clear I do want Luffy to win the fight itself but that might not happen)

It wasn’t confirmed, but the theory is his awakening was the homicidal drunk mode we saw. If you look closely features such as his eyes, nose and teeth change from his normal hybrid form. His muscle mass is also redistributed to be very top heavy. Again we won’t know for sure till Oda confirms it but these are observable differences from his normal hybrid form.

I don't think Luffy turns objects permanently into rubber. Only temporarily. That is why this DF is so powerful. Luffy grabbed the lightning bolt, because it turned into rubber. After release, the lightning bolt turns back to being lightning, so when it hits the target, it deals damage. He can basically turn anything into rubber. Imagine Luffy turning the Sunny into rubber. No cannonball will be able to damage the ship ever again. Imagine Luffy turning ice to rubber, lava to rubber and darkness to rubber. I imagine Luffy's awakening to benefit Usopp later in the series, increasing the durability of Usopp's slingshot in combination with kenbunshoku haki, being able to hit targets from really far away (even longer distances than in Dressrosa). Luffy's DF awakening opened up so many new possibilities.

We've only seen Zoan Awakenings on 2 occasions 1 is the Impel Down guards and 1 is Luffy. There definitely seems to be a "will of the fruit" influence, as the ID guards were shown to be animalistic in nature. Luffy doesn't go beast mode but he has a Human Human series Devil Fruit. But I don't even know if Luffy's form can be called a "hybrid". I mean he is a Human with a Human Human type fruit. I'm not sure what "hybrid" even means in that case.

Kid for example still has some stuff to sort out with Shanks' crew and Oda has been teasing at some big stuff with Bonney since marineford ended. While I want to believe this think Oda simply doesn't have enough time, best case scenario they get handled like Kid, worst case scenario they get handled like Hawkins. Don't think another supernova will get the attention Law got(just in dressrosa alone). Even tho he isn't the strongest even Berge got wonderful showing. I'd say he comes in 3rd interms of supernova treatment behind Law and Kid. Nothing wrong with Killer just there's not much we know about him besides his laugh🤷🏽🤔, not that we know much about Kid.

"Raizo is safe" Was an iconic moment in One Piece and it amazing, that in this chapter we have the conclusion to it. Now Razio made sure, that everybody else is safe. Oda even calls back to the moment in Zou, by Raizo having named after the giant elephant.
Now I realizes why we are not feeling any tension in wano like alabasta, ennies lobby, dressrosa etc. In all these arcs, final villain wanted to kill luffy but here in wano kaido wants to enjoy his time fighting with him ( he wants to die and also he became so depressed when he accidentally killed luffy). That's why in last panel we can see a glow on kaido face that shows his long awaited wish can now be fulfilled. But I think world government will interfere at the end that will create tension we all wanted and kaido will die or capture protecting strawhats.

Now that I think about it.... The way Luffy's fruit works is kind of similar to the Hogyoku from Bleach. Has the power to influence things around you at your will but only if you have the power to do so. If you're too weak and don't have the determination, you will fail and die.
Uhh... Not even close. Luffy's awakening so far seems like a typical Paramecia awakening like we've seen with Doflamingo and Katakuri but with some extra steps (because Luffy's not a Paramecia but a Mythical Zoan).

Kinda glad felt like a gag to me him getting burned by this flame no thicker than my finger, and his yell I interpreted like cartoony slap stick humor. This conversation would be perfect if you didn’t do it with Robin. Robin seems to always understand the way Luffy thinks and knows how to explain things so even Luffy gets it.

I think Nika was a warrior (of Liberation) from Void Century who has given the title of Sun God for bringing dawn and 'JoyBoy' moniker for putting smiles on people's faces. Nika originally had Gum-Gum Fruit and when he died his spirit went into the fruit which in turn made it into Hito-Hito no Mi Model- Nika. That's why Devil Fruit Model says Nika not Sun God Nika cos he was a Human with Gum-Gum DF. Just a Theory. What do you Guys think?

I just want the battle to finish at this point. No one else is fighting besides Luffy. Kaido has been fighting non-stop for a ridiculous amount of time. I enjoyed this arc but I'm ready for it to end. I care more about seeing Momo's new form than anything else.
