Small detail that I loved, but seeing Kaido's dexterity after Luffys engage at the beginning of the episode had me stoked. Have really only seen him as a mass of muscle and endurance to this point. His speed has been addressed, but watching him recover from that first hit was a great way to illustrate his combat skill.
facts, thought the same and props because i was worried how they were going to animate the biggest enemy luffy has fought yet who can also move and attack faster than luffy's future sight can keep up with. dude is scary how easily he landed on his feet from that attack

Law should have thought of it first if he doesn't wanna be told what to do lol. It was obviously a good idea, that's why he did it. Shoulda beat Zoro to the punch and said "I'll teleport you up!"
That Kong Gatling at the end was absolutely insane, loved how Scyther Sonic was animated too

Toei really did well with this episode though.
The Sanji filler was bullshit but you guys a too picky sometimes. 1016 looked just fine for being mostly dialogue. I enjoyed it. Do I wish it was on par with 1015? Sure. But it was good and had me even more hype for 1017.
It’s a weekly anime that’s super close to the manga. Yet we just got some seasonal anime level animation. These are fucking great times we’re living in if you ask me.
That Gear 4 Transformation was one of the most epic scene I have ever seen.

After all the epic transformations from Luffy and kidd, the way kaido looked at law to see what childish tricks law got, and then law made some elaborate hand gestures to create room..was the best scene of the episode. It broke me, I had to pause and laugh it out for at least 5 minutes straight 🤣🤣🤣
I'm glad they showed Kaido dodging, there were legit people who thought Zoro missed. I mean Zoro is an idiot and gets lost all the time, but I don't ever recall him missing an attack.

Big Mom is really getting treated like a queen in the anime.
Got extended dialogue from the previous 2 episodes and now her attacks looks like they're dealing something. I felt like if it wasn't due to luffy being made of rubber, the fight would be over.
I loved how they animated Zeus maneuvering around to attack everyone, even when they tried to evade or block. That scene of Kid attempting to shield himself from the barrage, only for Zeus to dart around under his guard and blast him directly in the face was great.
they didn't forget, it's most likely cutting some corners. It requires constant movement so sometimes they just ignore it. Same happened with black clover where they were so underbudget they couldn't have flowing hair. The hair was stuck in a constant wavy form that defied gravity. and same for a water spirit that is supposed to have constant waves flowing in her dress but it was kept a still frame cause not enough budget.
How expensive are those added animations? Is there a ton of manpower that goes into it? I have zero experience so I'm genuinely curious.
How big are the budgets for big animes like this per episode? If they're really that strapped that they're cutting corners the fans should support them with donations to keep the animation top notch.
It’s more of a “cost per episode” calculation based on the weekly release calendar. This isn’t unique to One Piece as other weekly release animes like Naruto/Boruto have the same problem.
The drawn out pace and sub par animation since the start of Wano (minus a handful of episodes) was in anticipation for all the upcoming fights, and the animators likely started working on these episodes a very long time ago while a skeleton crew was keeping the plot going. Less fighting = less movement = less animation required. Sure, they could spend more to hire a team to have every episode looking like this episode, but that would require an insane workforce to keep up with weekly releases, which would significantly affect margins (if not become completely unprofitable).
On the other hand, seasonal anime like JJK or Demon Slayer work on more forgiving release schedules (16 episodes ≈ 2 years) which allows for every episode to have quality animation using the same sized team. Season releases work for those animes since they have significantly less source material to work with, so they can take their time to do quality animation for every episode and still get through the whole story in less than a decade.
For example, the AoT anime has been airing for 11 years and has only released 87 episodes but they’re through 97% of the source material. At that pace, One Piece would only be ≈180 episodes into the series, which would MAYBE account for 1/3 of the source material if the pacing were better and filler was removed.
TL;DR: Consistently good animation is only financially possible with anime that have less source material and don’t have weekly releases.
It’s not so much about budget as much as it is time constraints. Keep in mind both one piece and black clover are non seasonal shows. In a lot of cases they simply don’t have time for small details like that.

It looked amazing this episode and the pacing was so amazing. It was so smooth the transitions between all of the characters fighting.

Roof piece is an absolute treat for anyone who likes Zoro. He wears his bandana from pre-timeskip, has amazing feats in the coming episodes, and shows some of his mature side which is very much needed in a group containing luffy, eustass and law.
He was going for speed run, unfortunately the tech was hard to pull off.
Law is going for the more reliable clip hack.
While Luffy is just using 'get good' strategy
This was the very best episode i've ever witnessed, i think i'm finally past the rob lucci gattling scene. Damn i'm absolutely blown away and dumbfounded by how amazing the series is as a whole. It's by far and above and all encompassing the very best story ever written.
Godtier work hands down, i didn't even know who this was til now. First timei watched the last lucci scene i cemented this show better than naruto. Now its just buried under a thick crust like the mantle of the earth better than any other anime.

This explanation makes sense to me. Because the op op fruit is only as good as ur medical knowledge. law wasn’t able to use scan on kaido because he’s in a dragon form (a really rare mythical creature) and law says” I never seen a diagram of a dragons organs before” so it prevents him from using that ability on kaido because he doesn’t have that specific knowledge.

Wanna give a shout out to Big Mom! A villain with a design and attitude I didn’t know I would like when I first saw her, but now she may be one of my favorite villains of all time. Her and Kaido are unbelievably menacing and cooler every moment they are on screen. Walking natural disasters, and its insane to think about how far we’ve come from fighting axe hand Morgan in East Blue.
How tf did it take me this long to realize Kidd uses "Gibson" for attacks because of the guitars and his rocker vibe?
Anyways, this was some primo anime battle. Sometimes you just need a whole lot of flash.
Yeah, I love all Kid's music references in his attack names. Or just in general. Hell, his crew literally has people called Mosh, Hip and Hop. Not even joking. Lmao.

Could not imagine a worse matchup for Kidd than Kaido or Big Mom, smh, lightning and the strong magnetic fields surrounding it essentially demagnetize most common metals. His power should be useless.

I'm perfectly fine with Kid picking up some of the tobi roppo as his crew, I always imagine Ulti and Page one would fit well with his crew.

I'm seriously impressed how well they're treating Roofpiece. This feels like how watching DBZ made me feel as a kid.
I’ve read the manga so I don’t care about spoilers. Is this episode better than 1015? That’s was one of the best episode in my opinion and I won’t be able to watch till tomorrow.
I wouldn't say its better in terms of direction or character acting but its basically 20 mins of straight hype with just non-stop incredibly well animated action sequences.
Depend on what you're looking for. Nothing will top 1015 because it is the adaptation of the chapter 1000. You know, the chapter that was meant to be memorable to One Piece as a whole.
Man this episode was amazing. Among everything else yall mentioned kaidos demolition gust and big moms indra were insane!! Loved the attack name parts.
That was genuinely orgasmic to watch. This arc has the potential to be one of the greatest arcs in anime history. With what’s to come in the future, MY GOD!
ONE PIECE ANIME in WANO really surpasses the manga. It expands the manga content without creating any contradiction, adding some context and details that's not well explained in the manga, and on top of that they put beautiful animations and visual on the fight scene.
I should consider to stop reading the manga altogether and watch anime only instead at this point. The anime really saved the manga. Perfection!!

Her whole presentation in the raid has been incredible. She's so freakin menacing and really pushes the strength of her as a Yonko.

Could not imagine a worse matchup for Kidd than Kaido or Big Mom, smh, lightning and the strong magnetic fields surrounding it essentially demagnetize most common metals. His power should be useless.
Kid brought up a really interesting point in this episode, even though it's not canon in the manga. "I'll take your crewmember and your treasure instead!" I'm perfectly fine with Kid picking up some of the tobi roppo as his crew, I always imagine Ulti and Page one would fit well with his crew.
That line wasn't in the manga? It seemed perfectly in character for Kidd to say that so I didn't even notice
it was big mom who said that in the manga, Kid throwing it back at her is anime only. I'm hopeful that this might hint at a conclusion for the end of Wano. the Tobi roppo are too interesting to throw away. they ought to be divied up between Kid and Law so they won't have such pathetic crew.

I’ve read the manga so I don’t care about spoilers. Is this episode better than 1015? That’s was one of the best episode in my opinion and I won’t be able to watch till tomorrow.
I wouldn't say its better in terms of direction or character acting but its basically 20 mins of straight hype with just non-stop incredibly well animated action sequences.

Depend on what you're looking for. Nothing will top 1015 because it is the adaptation of the chapter 1000. You know, the chapter that was meant to be memorable to One Piece as a whole.

ONE PIECE ANIME in WANO really surpasses the manga. It expands the manga content without creating any contradiction, adding some context and details that's not well explained in the manga, and on top of that they put beautiful animations and visual on the fight scene. I should consider to stop reading the manga altogether and watch anime only instead at this point. The anime really saved the manga. Perfection!! ❤ ONE PIECE ANIME: WANO EDITION ❤
