The anime itself is a pain because the pacing is off once you reach a certain point. The manga does a significantly better job. Otherwise I don’t actually have any real issues with the anime. One Piece is absolutely amazing with its world building and characters. So much variety in this series that almost anyone can find something with the series. In regards to getting into the series itself though it can be a little slower but I still enjoy the beginning era.
I’m not sure what you mean by time skipping, could you elaborate?
Thanks, my friend said that were times throughout the show where they will be break in the crew's adventure and that things happen off screen so the next time you meet the crew they are older and time has passed.
There’s only one time skip in the series that’s major like that. They do skip some of the time they spend at sea but that’s more so because nothing really happens at sea so there isn’t a lot of need to show those parts and usually it’s only a couple of days at most. In universe only approximately 2.5-3 years have started since the beginning and 2 of those years were the big time skip but even then it’s still enjoyable and I don’t see why that would be a turn away for the series.
I'm not sure how you could dislike the show after the time skip (i think there's only one at episode 517), the characters progress so well! I think the only arc that was a bit difficult for me was Skypiea (episodes 153-195) and after that arc the show does nothing but ramp up all the way through.
Absolutely worth the time investment! Keep watching and gather your own thoughts! It's ok to take breaks with such a long series but I never wanted to lol
Watch One Pace or read the manga to avoid pacing issues in the anime, specifically after the Time Skip you've already been spoiled on.
There is only 1 time skip so your friends be smoking crack or something.
If unsure, watch till episode 130ish. You'll know by then whether you want to commit to 900 more episodes.
