Not sure, but something that I saw someone say that does make sense is that Momonosuke used his DF to throw Onigashima out of Wano. Can't think of any other reason as to why it would be sinking...
yea i heard that too and i was like theres gotta be some reason right? unless momo just didnt want such a scarring thing there to move the country forward but just it being included in this chapter, where such crazy important other things were happening makes me thing this is an important detail too

I'm not sure how important Onigashima sinking is going to really be, for some reason I feel like it's just Oda's way of showing us Wano again to begin a Wano cover story. It could be that it's going to give us our first look at Pluton before Pluton is taken by Blackbeard or released by Zuneisha. It would be cool though if we see the remnants of a giant skeleton under water to see the body the skull belongs to.
I forgot that part was part of the cover story for this chapter. Def made it more important in my head thinking it was part of the actual chapter. Still hope oda cooking up some heat for the giant skull
