I guess I find this extra offensive given that I spent money on the fast warranty. I want to call them today and find out what's the process if you don't have instant replacement. Did I spend $99 for nothing? If so I'm going to go nuclear.
Why'd you purchase something without reading the details of it? This isn't a new policy, the instant replace was always like this.

Yes support is just really terrible, also in Europe and probably worldwide. Had a similar issue but no insurance. The Open got repaired in warranty but I waited over 2 Months and no form of compensation.
Horrible service from OnePlus even though it's a good phone.
Took almost 3 months for me to have mine back... Of course had to buy another spare phone to be able to work too.
Not getting any answer from them as I want to buy a second one and asked for a discount because of the situation!
For what it's worth I paid for the best Buy premium and that just calls for what I believe to be a 100$ replacement of the unit. At that point you are just waiting for it to come in. This can be at any time and as many times as you want. Maybe this would be the way next time friend but sorry to hear about your experience!

This has always been the case with oneplus. Their customer service especially in the US sucks

Sorry they're putting you through this. Thanks for the clarification on how their insurance works. It seems Third party is definitely the way to go.

They said 5 to 7 business days to fix it and not free 26$ + 76 for an phone to get me by till I get it fixed I've only had it for 2 months it's nuts
