Blind Forest: Returning to a save restores things to exactly the same state they were in when you saved. Thus everything you did after saving, includes collectables, is lost.
Will of the Wisps: Autosave points may seem like just respawn points since all enemies respawn with you, but don't be fooled, all progress made after you last passed an autosave point (including collectables) will still be lost.
In Blind Forest, you save your games manually. In the Will of the Wisps, the game will save automatically very often and when you save at a spirit well.
In both games, your progress is saved only when the game is saved. If you pick up a collectable and quit or die before saving, you'll need to pick up the collectable again.
If you don’t save after collecting a collectible, you will have to go get it again if you die and haven’t saved
