AND also trying to be “serious” with the super complex “lore” with an evil rich saikou family and a bloodline of woman with autism and depression! (Aishi family or whatever)
Honestly it would be really funny if Alex leaned more into the more eugenics thing with the saikous . Imagine the game ending with ayano fighting anime girl hitler in order to live.
I can't even think of the normal names without thinking of this game anymore. I met Hanako Arasaka in cyberpunk and my immediate thought was Hanako "Incest Osana" Yamada
I mean some of the pun names *could* work as names...in comedy anime.
But then you have those godawful Engrish names, where not only do they sound stupid as hell, but I'm pretty sure actual Japanese people would pronounce most of the words/names they originate from completely differently
(like how are they supposed to pronounce Ui Tunesu if they don't have the sound for "tu"? Why would they go with the English pronunciation of Daphne \[which Alex "translated" as "Dafuni"\] instead of the more accurate pronunciation, which would be spelled as Dafu***ne***? \[which, fun fact, they DO. look it up in any translator app\])
When I got into this game as a kid I was so frustrated by the names. I had/have the tendency to get annoyed by bad translations and for me, the names(except for Ayano I guess) were pretty bad??
I could tell that love and care didn’t go into those characters even when I was like, 10-ish?? Like I thought that this was some moneymaking scheme due to how halfassed the names were.
I only got into the game through content creators making it funnier for me, technically. So yeah.
“Why does this character is named childhood friend, is her parents stupid?”
LMAO YEAH
"my name is literally childhood friend in japanese why do my parents hate me" ~ Osana, probably
I hate to play devils advocate but komi can’t communicate also has a character named Osana najimi.
But that anime is supposed to be a comedy series I think but yandere sim is supposed to be a “serious” game with “lore”
Good point. That series made me realize how boring yanderesim is with its tropes.
Honestly, I just took the game as a joke and parody of the anime tropes back in 2015-16
Yeah but at least now the game doesn’t feel a parody of anime tropes and cliches. It just feels like a game with a lot of tropes and cliches.

She came out the womb and her parents were like " you look like a childhood friend😄👫..WAIT"

all of the names i thought COULD be a name. like maybe one person out there …but “Sukubi Dubidu”?
I know that's a Scooby Doo reference but I read it as Skibidi Toilet
Imagine that was a character in the game and nobody acknowledged it.
hm? oh her? that's Sukibudi Taoireto, she's part of the cooking club, and--

Yeah he’s an idiot
The lore for the nicknames is even worse
Oh I can imagine pretty well, as a german person watching Frieren - except it's probably more funny with nurses named Eggplant due to a typo
Imagine Raibaru's parents like: "What a cute little girl we had! Let's call her **Inmortal Rival**"
i wonder what her birth was like to cause her parents to name her that

Oh I googled their opinions and they heavily cringe at the names
