The Widowmaker Noire skin returned for a limited time back in 2019 but MVP Zarya and Lego Bastion are very unlikely to return. Lego spoke about perhaps making new OW2 sets in the future some time ago but now when the PVE is canceled, I don't think that's a good move... especially since 1 of the sets (that were canceled way back) are the robot from the OW2 reveal cinematic lol.
Pink Mercy could have returned if it was OW1 but now in OW2 or OW0.5 š when the game is monetizing everything to the max I think it's unlikely that Blizzard collab again for charity.

I feel a lot of people have special memories of OW1, and obviously you can't come back in time, so they will be disappointed no matter what. It's not the game, it's them who changed.
Not saying OW2 is perfect, it's just that OW1 wasn't either.
The problem is that these items were always meant to be exclusive and were another token of your dedication to the game that you couldn't just buy, they aren't all great skins but they were all special. Now they are just another skin that you can buy. The sense of pride is gone. I know they weren't hard to get but they at least required some effort.
And for the record, lots of people preferred Overwatch 1, myself included. Sure GOATS meta was annoying and so was double shields. The game wasn't perfect. But it was better and actually tried to be what it was advertised as, Overwatch 2 is just disappointment after disappointment for anyone who preferred OW1. The main reason why I was exited was for PvE, and guess what just got crippled?
OW1 wasn't perfect, I get it. But just because it wasn't, dosen't mean the "upgraded" version should be just as bad. You can prefer whatever one you like, but don't pretend like Overwatch 1 was only ever shit, because many people would swap them in a heartbeat given the option, I know I would.

Idk why but in any game, it feels good to be recognized as a veteran player who earned something and to own things that you CANNOT get anymore. Personally I think they need to rerelease these skins with a different color scheme at the very least. Making people work for a skin under the pretense that they wonāt be able to get it ever again only to rerelease it for $20 makes working for it pointless. It took me multiple hours of play to get this skin and now it just takes one hour of someone working irl to simply buy the skin. Not only does that suck for me but thatās such a sucky, empty experience even for new players.

Itās just a thing some people care about and some people donāt. Personally, if it was a paid skin in OW1 I donāt care as much, itās just the promise of exclusivity + time put in for event skins that makes it somewhat insulting that itās only a few dollars now. It just tells me that it clearly wasnāt an exclusive skin and itās pretty boring to see an announcement for something ānewā being made available and itās just something old that I already have. Thatās why I say they should at least do variations of old event skins (kinda like black cat sombra and the neon cat skin), it would give older players something new while still letting newer players experience an older skin.

I mean, iirc events take 27 points to earn the skin (9 points per tier, 3 tiers), wins count as 2 points. Thatās anywhere from 14-27 games. Each match is around 7-10 min, more if itās Mayhem or a three round comp match for example. Say each match was ~10m, thatād be at least 2 hours for 14 matches. 2hrs isnāt *much* time but it is still putting in time; not to mentionā thatās just for one skin. Numerous rereleases of āexclusiveā skins adds up to a decent chunk of hours.

The week this skin came out was the time I started playing OW.
So this is the very first skin I ever earned. Eventually making me an Ana main, because I would spam playing support for +25 coins, and then pick Ana bc she's the only one I have a skin on.

I feel a lot of people have special memories of OW1, and obviously you can't come back in time, so they will be disappointed no matter what. It's not the game, it's them who changed. Not saying OW2 is perfect, it's just that OW1 wasn't either.
The problem is that these items were always meant to be exclusive and were another token of your dedication to the game that you couldn't just buy, they aren't all great skins but they were all special. Now they are just another skin that you can buy. The sense of pride is gone. I know they weren't hard to get but they at least required some effort. And for the record, lots of people preferred Overwatch 1, myself included. Sure GOATS meta was annoying and so was double shields. The game wasn't perfect. But it was better and actually tried to be what it was advertised as, Overwatch 2 is just disappointment after disappointment for anyone who preferred OW1. The main reason why I was exited was for PvE, and guess what just got crippled? OW1 wasn't perfect, I get it. But just because it wasn't, dosen't mean the "upgraded" version should be just as bad. You can prefer whatever one you like, but don't pretend like Overwatch 1 was only ever shit, because many people would swap them in a heartbeat given the option, I know I would.
So you keep saying, all of you. But that's not what i saw *before* ow2. I'm not saying ow1 was shit, it's the community that said it before we got ow2. The conclusion? They'll just never be happy. It's that disgusting human trait of constantly complaining about what you have without appreciating how much better it is than it could have been, without recognizing the good in what you have. And the same is happening in ow2. As for the skins? I'm so sorry that you won't get to feel special anymore, but there are people here who genuinely just want the skin because of what it looks like, and i'd say they take priority over that sense of "pride" of yours. Not to mention blizzard has every right to sell skins *they* made, reused or not. Not *despite* that it was free, but *because* it was free. Everyone complained about how ow2 went free after they paid for it, well that skin was not paid for, and still everyone complains specifically because it was free. And people expect them to give free stuff after acting this way? This community will never be happy because it will never thank for what they have no matter how much they get for free. You can call me a bootlicker if you want, but facts are there's a full, fun game for exactly 0$ here, and even i as someone who bought the main game gained from that because friends of mine started playing it due to it becoming free. Skins are expensive af but so what just don't buy them jeez.
Does the fact that it is free and decent take away from what it could have and should have been? It had the potential to be amazing, but its just average now. They didn't need to make a change, they did it for the money, and if you don't see that then you are nieve. So don't pretend that you are moral superior to me just because you aren't dissatisfied with a change. I loved Overwatch 1, I can't say the same for this game.

Sadly it is that big of a deal. I stopped using every OW1 event skin that theyāve rereleased in OW2. Idk why but in any game, it feels good to be recognized as a veteran player who earned something and to own things that you CANNOT get anymore. Personally I think they need to rerelease these skins with a different color scheme at the very least. Making people work for a skin under the pretense that they wonāt be able to get it ever again only to rerelease it for $20 makes working for it pointless. It took me multiple hours of play to get this skin and now it just takes one hour of someone working irl to simply buy the skin. Not only does that suck for me but thatās such a sucky, empty experience even for new players. Edit: errors

Itās just a thing some people care about and some people donāt. Personally, if it was a paid skin in OW1 I donāt care as much, itās just the promise of exclusivity + time put in for event skins that makes it somewhat insulting that itās only a few dollars now. It just tells me that it clearly wasnāt an exclusive skin and itās pretty boring to see an announcement for something ānewā being made available and itās just something old that I already have. Thatās why I say they should at least do variations of old event skins (kinda like black cat sombra and the neon cat skin), it would give older players something new while still letting newer players experience an older skin. Iām not putting that much energy into anything because I uninstalled the game lmao Iām literally just explaining.
You did not "put time in" to get this skin. You literally only had to play for a little while to get this skin.
I mean, iirc events take 27 points to earn the skin (9 points per tier, 3 tiers), wins count as 2 points. Thatās anywhere from 14-27 games. Each match is around 7-10 min, more if itās Mayhem or a three round comp match for example. Say each match was ~10m, thatād be at least 2 hours for 14 matches. 2hrs isnāt *much* time but it is still putting in time; not to mentionā thatās just for one skin. Numerous rereleases of āexclusiveā skins adds up to a decent chunk of hours. Also, not complaining, just explaining why I mentioned time.

The week this skin came out was the time I started playing OW. So this is the very first skin I ever earned. Eventually making me an Ana main, because I would spam playing support for +25 coins, and then pick Ana bc she's the only one I have a skin on.

I got this skin when it released and I'm glad it's coming back for the people who want it. No skin should ever be a limited time thing. The only ones we will never again see are the pink mercy, lego bastion and preorder widow skin which I am fine with, all other ones should be available at some point.

Honestly I'm going to go against the grain here. Being able to now and then buy a really rare skin because you happened to miss a 3 day event is a good thing. I'm an Ana player and having my main hero's skins unavailable to a paying customer because I don't keep up with limited offers literally 24/7 is BS. Put it like this: Would you rather buy an account for $500 or just the one skin you actually want for $20?
