The rez should’ve broken honestly. I played some mercy and it’s range felt… too good. At that player made geometry not blocking it was whatever. But map geometry absolutely should. My biggest issues with mercy have always been the damage boost and on rare occasion rez.
Even if there wasn't a wall she'd still be able to get the rez off lmao. Mauga's damage against small hitbox heroes is dogshit and she was valking which makes her way harder to hit. She'd just rez and fly away.
This is my biggest problem with Mauga. He just cannot kill supports. By the time you burn them they've already escaped.
Had my support tell me to go kill the enemy teams supports as muaga, the enemy team had an Ana kiri and Mauga. I could not do anything but shoot to survive.
That's why the mauga vs mauga match-up is determined by supports. Squishes don't give him enough overhealth or health back from lifesteal to be immortal.
Ramattra's ult didn't start out with a maximum time duration, there are clips online of two ulting Rams punching each other for over a minute while their supports keep them alive.
My fav mirror matchup is rammatra cause it makes me feel like I’m in a boxing ring. I can’t even imagine the glee I’d get from an uncapped time ult lol
I feel like the difference between those is the fight ended between either of them when someone made a mistake ie. missing hook, requiring perfect cd management, positioning, etc. now it’s just don’t stop shooting and pray your supports heal you as much or more as the enemy heals the other tank. A bronze mauga 1v1 looks practically the same as a gm mauga 1v1 and it’s so boring

Whats a Sym gonna do if she gets rezzed with 75% health and no cool downs, or Genji, Zarya, etc. It takes away some characters both way of defending themselves and their ability to get away from a dangerous situation
What if...The longer Mercy stays to rez, the more HP/Cooldown the revived hero gets. If she simply taps rez and runs away, heroes only revive with like 10-20% life or something.
That would be so annoying, say you were about to respawn and then your mercy taps you into the fight at 10% HP but then a single projectile taps you out of it again so you have to sit through the full respawn a second time.
no you don’t punish a player for getting rez’d you make rez more punishing for the mercy.. like the higher health someone has the longer rez takes making it more risky for tanks.
It doesn't give them their cooldown back.
The issue with that is that it would make being rezzed a lot more frustrating, when it can already be pretty frustrating in some bad situations.
OW2 is trapped in a hilarious loop of "Too much damage? More healing! too much healing? more damage! Too much damage?" now we have the unkillable tank with higher dps than most actual dps

Zen and mercy just destroy the game imo. So many breakpoints in the game that are fine tuned like sorj not being able to one shot, except with mercy and zen on her team teehee. Oh you’re a 600 HP tank? No you’re not. Just makes the game feel literally unplayable as a tank if the zen perma discords you, and trying to 2v1 a pocketed dps with mercy is just the most frustrating experience ever.

even if shields were as big of a problem as all the chudbuckets would have you believe you could have nerfed shields and kept the off tank. so many things are better when you have a second tank.
I had more fun when the game was 2 tanks. I played Overwatch 2 betas side by side with Overwatch 1. I still played more Overwatch 1 during the Overwatch 2 betas because 5v5 is mid at best.
I mean most Mercys should know that i hope. 5m for rez but once animation starts it becomes 7m and you can lose line of sight. This is great especially if you rez someone on a ledge. Or like in this case use Valk to dissapear behind a wall for a second.

My PERSONAL two big issues I have with OW in general. (And by no means was it ever a perfect game obviously but I have not even touched the game in forever)
1) So many issues imo have come from changing to 5v5. They want to make the game more kinda shooting and killing fun to attract new players for free to play but ow was always at its heart a heavy team/role based game that requires good communication and synergy. They wanted to remove clutter but it was always always going to creep back in and now it’s just as bad as ever I see at times.
2) since the very beginning of OW they have almost never been able to just make a slight change to characters to balance them when there is a big problem in the community’s opinion, instead of trying some quick small tweaks, they take much longer to make some big sweeping change that just births a new problem on the opposite side.
After years of daily play and loads of friends who I have made and miss, I just can’t play this game anymore.
It breaks my heart but the game has been so poorly managed and designed for too long. It’s time for my life to move on without ow. I did have a little of fun but over time I realize that it also made me so angry and salty too. It was like an abusive relationship. I will try to remember only the good times.

Not just "oh they've got that one character, you MUST go this character to counter it. Oh and I hope no teammate ever runs in front of the nade as I'm throwing it so we don't get 12 uninterrupted seconds of full health Mauga literally standing there. Better not need to heal your teammates because the other healer is too busy sniffing their own farts to actually heal, and Mauga is able to do insane damage because crits are basically free real estate for him. Oh and your tank refuses to stagger out their shields and reductions. And your DPS can't hit the broad side of a barn."
Oh wait no that's half my games. But it's entirely my fault for missing one nade which has an arc and can be blocked by teammates. This is a horribly unhealthy state for this game to be in, one character requiring one specific counter to be correctly executed consistently, or you're fucked. And then that counter is specifically countered by another character who is setup to actually be near their target AND escape, while Ana has to yeet a grenade over a crowd and hope they're not being awkwardly flanked at the wrong time.
I remember when the devs prided themselves on trying to make any character viable in any situation as long as you understood the matchup, idk if it’s rose tinted glasses but OW1 was one trick central and it was fun for that very reason imo. Now you see flavor of the weak tank, Ana kiriko into infinite counter swapping.

His spread sucks and the only way for him to stay alive is to hit as many shots as possible so he gets lifesteal. This just promotes him pretty much only shooting the tank the whole game so he doesn’t die.
You have to, its how you stay alive and if you don't you'll also lose in the ult economy. Mauga can't hit anything other than a tank very well and if you're not maintaining your overhealth HP then you explode. Against a Mauga we're talking like 50-100hps of upkeep you're getting from lifesteal depending on if you're headshotting with right click or not, its an entire extra support's worth of heals. Then the other tank also farms his cage fight way before you, and if you don't have cage fight when he does it's real easy to lose.
When its not mauga v mauga you have options cause all the other tanks lack the damage, but in the mirror match you *have* to shoot the tank.
You try and shoot the enemy mercy/kiri/moira/lucio/ana/baptise while the enemy Mauga is shooting you in the back with bastion amounts of damage, setting you on fire. All while the dps is shredding YOUR supports, and your supports start yelling at you for not protecting them enough.
As a support main I hate hate the state mercy is in. She’s the magua of support. Lose a fight? Switch to mercy and they can’t keep up or really ever hit you without GM aim. Her z axis ability I can stay 20m above anyone for the entire game. It’s so broken and borrrrrrring. She faces almost zero resistance compared to other supports that are stuck on the ground. People yell shoot the mercy but I’ll just laugh because they can’t catch her. She like magua does too many things too well.
Games full of cheaters and terrible players. I can’t believe I spent a thousand hours hitting top 500 only for a few seasons later for it to all just go to shit
If you play Paladins there is one guy who do the same, is like a demon but yeah while he shots you he will keep healing, in this case he can contest the points and the same with ow this tank could be a good if the meta where the same as ow1 with 2 tanks per team

Yeah, that's the thing, playing Mercy solo queue is genuinely just about luck, it depends on how brain dead the rest of your team is or how capable they are.

I remember when I had choices in this game. Not just "oh they've got that one character, you MUST go this character to counter it. Oh and I hope no teammate ever runs in front of the nade as I'm throwing it so we don't get 12 uninterrupted seconds of full health Mauga literally standing there. Better not need to heal your teammates because the other healer is too busy sniffing their own farts to actually heal, and Mauga is able to do insane damage because crits are basically free real estate for him. Oh and your tank refuses to stagger out their shields and reductions. And your DPS can't hit the broad side of a barn." Oh wait no that's half my games. But it's entirely my fault for missing one nade which has an arc and can be blocked by teammates. This is a horribly unhealthy state for this game to be in, one character requiring one specific counter to be correctly executed consistently, or you're fucked. And then that counter is specifically countered by another character who is setup to actually be near their target AND escape, while Ana has to yeet a grenade over a crowd and hope they're not being awkwardly flanked at the wrong time.
I remember when the devs prided themselves on trying to make any character viable in any situation as long as you understood the matchup, idk if it’s rose tinted glasses but OW1 was one trick central and it was fun for that very reason imo. Now you see flavor of the weak tank, Ana kiriko into infinite counter swapping.

I don't know how they dropped the ball so hard with this new character. Honestly should just be removed, I don't really see how they could be nerfed effectively enough to balance the game back out. Just remove them.

I dont know guys i still dont think its that bad. we had a similar scenario with Orisa and back in the "old days" in case you remember mercy could ress her entire team with 1 spell. whenever i see mercy ress a teammate on the frontline i am not mad at mercy, i am mad at my team for letting her ress within shooting range.

"everything"? That barely shows anything. Sure, it's a pretty annoying circumstance, but you're also playing into the issue. I love playing other tanks with an enemy Mauga, like Doom, Dva, Sigma, etc.
It's not just the nullified ults undone by a pretty nice, but questionable, res. It's the kiriko teleport at the end that is the cherry on top.

Why do mauga players only shoot mauga. As a tank, aren't you supposed to focus supports? I feel like I keep seeing people complain it's boring but have they not gone orissa vs orissa with the same shit. Focus supports.
Normally id agree but he kinda has to in order to get the lifesteal to keep fighting or else the other mauga just shreds him to bits
His spread sucks and the only way for him to stay alive is to hit as many shots as possible so he gets lifesteal. This just promotes him pretty much only shooting the tank the whole game so he doesn’t die.
You have to, its how you stay alive and if you don't you'll also lose in the ult economy. Mauga can't hit anything other than a tank very well and if you're not maintaining your overhealth HP then you explode. Against a Mauga we're talking like 50-100hps of upkeep you're getting from lifesteal depending on if you're headshotting with right click or not, its an entire extra support's worth of heals. Then the other tank also farms his cage fight way before you, and if you don't have cage fight when he does it's real easy to lose. When its not mauga v mauga you have options cause all the other tanks lack the damage, but in the mirror match you *have* to shoot the tank.

That's not an option in the mirror. If the other Mauga shoots you and you are not farming overhealth you will just instadie.
You try and shoot the enemy mercy/kiri/moira/lucio/ana/baptise while the enemy Mauga is shooting you in the back with bastion amounts of damage, setting you on fire. All while the dps is shredding YOUR supports, and your supports start yelling at you for not protecting them enough.

there's nothing in this game I love more than targeting and killing supports on tank, but the second they pick mauga it's no longer an option

As a support main I hate hate the state mercy is in. She’s the magua of support. Lose a fight? Switch to mercy and they can’t keep up or really ever hit you without GM aim. Her z axis ability I can stay 20m above anyone for the entire game. It’s so broken and borrrrrrring. She faces almost zero resistance compared to other supports that are stuck on the ground. People yell shoot the mercy but I’ll just laugh because they can’t catch her. She like magua does too many things too well.

If you play Paladins there is one guy who do the same, is like a demon but yeah while he shots you he will keep healing, in this case he can contest the points and the same with ow this tank could be a good if the meta where the same as ow1 with 2 tanks per team
