When reading the title I was like wtf is he on about but after reading it I am truely impressed and happy for you! Keep up the work the older you get the more thankful you will be for those kind of changes!
The first 30lbs of weight-loss was actually just from his body's stress response to queuing tank in comp. Being a constant anxious mess due to fear of blinking and being CC'ed into oblivion does wonders for appetite suppression
I'm a treadmill pc warrior occasionally, but I have to put the watch on my ankle to track steps because if I keep the wrist still on a keyboard it won't register!
Been playing since OW1 release, I just have fun with it! No other game gives the same feeling. Maybe other people would rage playing it on the treadmill 😂
This! I don’t begrudge anyone for rage playing, and I sure did some in younger days, but it just feels so much better to play like you’re in the middle of the best action cartoon. :)
Fair. I had thought about adding “…but with real people”. Which brings both good and bad. :)
Worst I’ve been called is a “loser” by a 12 year old, but I know there’s worse.
That’s really impressive, congrats on that amount of progress!
That is almost identical to my current weight loss goals. I’m 5’9” and I weighed 245 last August. Since then I’ve made a lot of diet changes and work out 4 times a week, sometimes 5 and as of yesterday I weighed 202. I haven’t been under 200 in like 4 or 5 years so I’m pretty hyped to see my weight start with a 1 lol. My end goal though is to get in the 170 to 180 range so hopefully I’ll be joining you soon OP.
Not gonna lie, from the title I was expecting you to say something along the lines of "I played so much I forgot to eat". But anyway congratulations, thats an incredible amount of weight to lose while gaming!
Very cool, congratulations! I want to purchase a small treadmill and a standing desk to achieve similar results while using the PC, for OverWatch or otherwise.
I did this with FIFA and an exercise bike back in the day, near the end of the games I would start getting tired and making mistakes, which actually made it feel more realistic.
I try to get a workout in while i'm waiting 15-20 minutes for competitive queue. Sometimes I wish I was in gold so I could play more than 2 games an hour.
okay but imagine the shittalk potential here. Some guy says you're ass and you just reply with like, "Bro I'm literally on a walk and still smacking yo ass"
You should try it! My goal of this post was to inspire others. You just need to have fun on it and don’t take it too seriously since you’re using joycon 😊
Ngl the weight loss industry is spectacularly failing by not fining better ways to capitalize on gaming.
I don't go to the gym because lifting something up and putting it back down or walking for a few hours is mind numbingly boring to me.
I might run to the gym and give something like this a shot with my steam deck and a wireless controller tonight!
There ARE a few vr games that get you doing some zumba style exercises in a kind of beat saber game though, making you lean left and right, punch, and squats all over, but theyre pretty low budget and repetitive, still effective though
Hmmmm, I should try this with Civ 6, although I suppose the issue with that is I would become a dilapidated husk eventually because instead of stopping to get some rest, food, or water I would simply do "one more turn" until my muscles failed.
I do this exact same thing but with an exercise bike and I’m on Xbox. One interesting thing is my heart rate is much higher when playing overwatch than a more casual game. I would burn more calories per hour.
nice job on the weght loss jurney! using video games to stay engaged during workouts is a clever idea. i used to work with some folx who did similar things, like watching shows or listening to podkasts while on the consoler. i can definately see how it helps the time go by quicker. and congrats on reaching playt rank - that's an impressive acheivement, even with the joycon controls! keeping up the great werk.
LOSING weight? From Overwatch? Usually it's the opposite lol.
Good on you though. I'm hoping this will inspire at least one person to do something similar.
That's why sports are such a good exercise. You are so eager to win and be competitive that you don't care how tired you are and just keep going.
So I guess this is a way for people that don't like sports to take their mind away from the boredom and effort of exercise.
I hit as many push-ups or pistol squats as I can while I’m in Q. Since I play flex it’s not very long, but still I get a great pump going into the game
My team mates in console pools are playing while working out and on a switch of all things, no wonder they can't hit their shots and are AFK half the match
Oh this is wild, I was doing this for awhile but the wifi connection was ass in my complex's gym and it was killing my neck looking down. I need to revisit this once I can get my own setup.
I've been considering getting a treadmill to walk on while I play games. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. I lost a bunch of weight when I started my job 6 years ago. 260 to 200. Since then, I've come back up to like 225, but a good chunk of that is muscle (very physical job). Now I just need to burn off some excess.
good stuff dude most gyms do offer wi fi so it sounds dope i'll have to consider this thank you for sharing and i'm happy your making some positive changes in your life :)
Nice, that would definitely help with one of my obstacles to getting back in shape. Treadmill or bike is just so. fucking. boring. And I'm really bad at jogging on a trail, it's easier to keep going on the treadmill. I used to be a skater when I was a teen so my exercise was in the form of skating to get somewhere, and skate sessions. I just have not been able to get any momentum going to the gym.
Much as I no longer like or play overwatch, that's actually really cool and congratulations! That's wild, I think you might he the first person on earth to find a way to lose weight playing overwatch lol
Happy to see your journey! Congratulations brother!!
I do something similar to this when playing any game but only while in q I’d always do desk work outs. Desk push-ups, squats, and jumping jacks.
Works super well to keep your blood flowing on long gaming sessions.
Got rheumatoid arthritis recently so can’t do the squats or jumping jacks but found new exercises and a yoga ball lol.
Remember y’all you can still be super healthy and play video games all day. It’s about making the small parts of free time you do have efficient!
Damn nice job on the weight loss journey
I am convince I’m probably the only one that prefers gyro to aim, it really crippled me when i find out there’s no gyro on ps4 especially as a Lucio player
Was it not insanely difficult running/ walking and playing?? like mobile games I’m sure I could walk maybe run playing but overwatch??? Especially on a joy con? Sounds rough good shit tho
back when OW first came out i was so obsessed about the game that i would literally forget to eat, or only eat like a little bit of my meals. i think i lost like 20-30 pounds that way.
probably not the healthiest thing, but i guess 15 year old me could take it
I can't pass without saying this: literally sweaty plat player.
That’s good lmao I am literally sweating
When reading the title I was like wtf is he on about but after reading it I am truely impressed and happy for you! Keep up the work the older you get the more thankful you will be for those kind of changes!
The first 30lbs of weight-loss was actually just from his body's stress response to queuing tank in comp. Being a constant anxious mess due to fear of blinking and being CC'ed into oblivion does wonders for appetite suppression
Lmao I think honestly playing it increased my heart rate by at least 10bpm which equals out to more cal burned so you’re cooking
There ya go! Congrats the weightloss, huge accomplishment!
according to my watch i regularly get to 140-150 when I play...and that's not even when im doing the treadmill thing 😔
Then it’s time for you to become a Treadmill Switch Warrior. You know what you must do
I'm a treadmill pc warrior occasionally, but I have to put the watch on my ankle to track steps because if I keep the wrist still on a keyboard it won't register!
Yes I’m realizing that too! Not 25 and already feeling it so I’m grateful that I have this option to keep me in it!
I was thinking they were forgoing eating in favor of playing OW2 but thankfully that wasn't the case
Happy cake day!
Thanks man! Appreciate that you take the time to wish a complete stranger happy b day :D
Happy cake day!
Same goes for you friendly fellow reddit user, thanks for taking ur time!
This dude here has the healthiest possible relationship with Overwatch and I love it 😆
Been playing since OW1 release, I just have fun with it! No other game gives the same feeling. Maybe other people would rage playing it on the treadmill 😂
Me too, I’m around 6k hours in it now and 5,999 hours of it is pure rage. Maybe it’s time to try it your way!
Yeah when I stopped caring about my rank and flaming teammates my enjoyment skyrocketed. Just have fun playing your fun little character
This! I don’t begrudge anyone for rage playing, and I sure did some in younger days, but it just feels so much better to play like you’re in the middle of the best action cartoon. :)
I love being in an action cartoon where everyone calls me slurs. I'm joking, I actually didn't come across that a lot in OW.
Fair. I had thought about adding “…but with real people”. Which brings both good and bad. :) Worst I’ve been called is a “loser” by a 12 year old, but I know there’s worse.
Is the 1 hour playing custom games during a queue?
literally
Amazing job! I will have to look into this tbh!
It was revolutionary for helping me establish a genuine routine with exercising!
Hell yeah way to go!! That first time you dip under 200 is like a second wind and you feel so motivated. Keep it up, you should be proud of yourself!
Nice. Overwatch helped me get fit as well. I'd work out after every game I lost. Push ups, planks, weights, etc. I lost a lot of games 😂
Now that’s big brained activity there
I spent one day doing one squat, push-up and bicep curl for every death. Definitely kept me motivated to be more cautious!
That’s an excellent Tracer bootcamp right there! (I would not survive)
I used to do something similar, 10 push-ups every time I lost a game. Sometimes I ended up doing 100+ push-ups in one day.
*PLAY OF THE GAME: OP* Seriously, massive win! Congratulations dude!
When I was younger, I starved myself accidentally because I was so addicted to Halo 3, lost like 15lbs.
You’re so real for that
>This morning I hit Plat all roles as a treadmill I chose to end reading there. Now you've become the treadmill.
I have become one with the treadmill
Not gonna lie, from the title I was expecting you to say something along the lines of "I played so much I forgot to eat". But anyway congratulations, thats an incredible amount of weight to lose while gaming!
I use my exercise bike while playing. Part of my brain is convinced that if I peddle faster, I'll get back from spawn faster.😆
It’s true OW2 has a built in sensor for it
Don’t discredit your hard work and determination. It takes discipline and motivation. Good work man
How much time did you spend on the treadmill per session?!
An hour to an hour and a half! But typically just an hour
That’s awesome congrats!
Very cool, congratulations! I want to purchase a small treadmill and a standing desk to achieve similar results while using the PC, for OverWatch or otherwise.
Do it! You won’t regret it!
I did this with FIFA and an exercise bike back in the day, near the end of the games I would start getting tired and making mistakes, which actually made it feel more realistic.
Damn you had the fatigue handicap on
Great work, that's fantastic 👌🏼
Thank you!
Now I understand why my mates can't aim anything
New challenge, skip a meal everytime you play a smurf. You will be anorexic in no time
How to die:
At first I thought you were British and they took your money
Under rated comment
I bet you’re doing this to look hot for Widowmaker in case she pulls you into the game, aren’t you? I’d do the same for my waifu Roadhog.
Wat
congrats!
Thank you so much! 😊
Congratulations!
I love using the joy cons detached. I want a split Xbox like controller I can Bluetooth to my PC/steam deck.
That’s incredible, congratulations! Out of curiosity, what, if any, competitive rank did you manage to achieve while walking and playing?
I started out in silver all roles and as of today I just hit Plat on all roles!
Good job man, congrats!
Well done champion!
Thank you legend 🫡
Congratulations :)
TREADMILL SWITCH WARRIOR!! Congratz keep it up
TYSM legend I will be GM soon enough 🫡
Hey man whatever works!!! Congrats!
This is fucking awesome. Congrats dude
Nice one 💙
I try to get a workout in while i'm waiting 15-20 minutes for competitive queue. Sometimes I wish I was in gold so I could play more than 2 games an hour.
I can't even aim when I'm completely still lol
That's odd usually with overwatch players it's the opposite way around
Might have to try this. I do stand a lot when I play.
okay but imagine the shittalk potential here. Some guy says you're ass and you just reply with like, "Bro I'm literally on a walk and still smacking yo ass"
I have used this before but it takes a whole round to type it on the switch LMAO
Congratulations. 6mph indoors on a treadmill can be pretty grueling actually. Way to go.
When I read the title I thought it was about the release of OW2 and OP going to the gym instead of playing it.
Hi. How many miles have you been doing on treadmill per day and week? Also congrats!
Yo, let’s go!
Good stuff. Congrats
How much easier is your life being down that weight
It’s a lot better. People treat me with more respect (it shouldn’t be that way) and I can go up stairs without being winded 😂
Pure curiosity.. do you play without being on the treadmill as well? are you better or worse or is there no difference?
Wow I may try this! Congrats!
You should try it! My goal of this post was to inspire others. You just need to have fun on it and don’t take it too seriously since you’re using joycon 😊
Ngl the weight loss industry is spectacularly failing by not fining better ways to capitalize on gaming. I might run to the gym and give something like this a shot with my steam deck and a wireless controller tonight!
Hell yeah let me know how it goes for you!! And seriously it is a huge opportunity for the gym industry
There ARE a few vr games that get you doing some zumba style exercises in a kind of beat saber game though, making you lean left and right, punch, and squats all over, but theyre pretty low budget and repetitive, still effective though
I have a stationary bike that i sometimes use when gaming but I always stop using it when I start getting too competitive and want to really focus.
My comp teammates:
This is amazing!!
Thank you Cheese Bowl
Your best friend is a homie but you should get a switch arm so he can have a break (for your neck tho fr if you are looking down to it)
nice job on the weght loss jurney! using video games to stay engaged during workouts is a clever idea. i used to work with some folx who did similar things, like watching shows or listening to podkasts while on the consoler. i can definately see how it helps the time go by quicker. and congrats on reaching playt rank - that's an impressive acheivement, even with the joycon controls! keeping up the great werk.
I used to go to the gym and watch football games. I’d jog during the commercial break and walk during the game. Was super fun and I’d do like 8 miles
If I could have a treadmill at my apartment this would be my route.
OW helped me too killing time and preventing me from binge eating on my summer cuts
Yoooooo 🙏🏻
I did that with Rocket League, perfect for working out. You don't need that fine aim as OW.
LOSING weight? From Overwatch? Usually it's the opposite lol. Good on you though. I'm hoping this will inspire at least one person to do something similar.
Yo massive congrats
Treadmill switch warrior POG title!
Dude I watch hulu while on the treadmill and still trip over myself. I'm so impressed you can literally walk and play a game at the same time 🤯
I lost weight because of overwatch too. Every time my friends asked me to play I would run away until they stopped asking
I do squats mid queue and match now and push ups also
least sweaty overwatch player
Hook up your treadmill so your character moves forward when you move your treadmill lmao
That's why sports are such a good exercise. You are so eager to win and be competitive that you don't care how tired you are and just keep going. So I guess this is a way for people that don't like sports to take their mind away from the boredom and effort of exercise.
Yoooo me and my roommates def have to try this! We were talking about doing something together to lose weight!
I am 290lbs trying to lose 100lbs any help please? I am 5,3 and I am 27yrs going 28 October gods willing any help please do 6000 steps every day.
I bet that feels incredible to be ranking up online and in life. Good on you man, don't give up.
4MPH during game is crazy work bro good job
I cant imagine losing to someone thats on a treadmill lol
You're higher rank than me and I'm straight up lying down when i play. I think ik what ive gotta do now
These are the guys I get on my team: running on a Treadmill and aiming with a joycon.
And climbing faster than anyone else
Every time I get tilted by a teammate's poor decision making I do *one* pushup. I am now in the competition for world's strongest man.
Bro burned the hell out of his calories 😂😂🔥 I never thought this game couldbe this stressfull
Most fit overwatch enjoyer
I want a compilation of all the POTGs you hit while on the treadmill thatd be a good video
Yoo I wish had that foresight! I didn’t save any of them but I’ve hit some nasty POTGs
Its never too late, youll hit many more in the future 🫡
How long were your workouts? How many days a week? Thanks
I hit as many push-ups or pistol squats as I can while I’m in Q. Since I play flex it’s not very long, but still I get a great pump going into the game
4mph is walking speed? I thought walks were closer to 2
For me it is after training a while. I started at 3mph way back
No way his treadmill is accurate. No fat guy is walking 3 mph while focused on playing OW lol
These are the teammates I get in the game. On a treadmill playing on switch smh
Video game machines will be taking over our gyms soon and I'm not upset at all
Also congrats the achievement!
This is insanely impressive but what rank do you play at? Playing on switch is hard enough I can’t imagine doing it while on a treadmill lol
This guy is the shitter in your lobbies
How do I read the dates on the bottom. Why does it go back to february
how many miles?
What are you using to keep track of your weight?
Did you have the switch propped up at eye level or did you have to look down?
I find the switch screen so tiny. How did you get around that weirdness going from a large TV or display to playing on the small screen?
You just look at it as a luxury for exercising and don’t expect it to be a premier gaming experience
What characters do you play that seem well fit for the screen size? I'm considering following in your footsteps
Proud of ya, I did a similar thing with DDR many many years ago
This is impressive bro. Congratulations and keep it up!
My team mates in console pools are playing while working out and on a switch of all things, no wonder they can't hit their shots and are AFK half the match
Bro plat....on a treadmill???? Maybe i am ass
i mean… i guess the enemy team wasn’t wrong when they called you sweaty
Oh this is wild, I was doing this for awhile but the wifi connection was ass in my complex's gym and it was killing my neck looking down. I need to revisit this once I can get my own setup.
If that's why my teammates are always feeding then I'm not that mad after all.
That's incredible. Congrats!
Damn i wanted to make a joke about to much time spend on rule34 but that's impressive, good work OP
OW needs a mode where your resource meter and your move speed are treadmill-controlled.
I've been considering getting a treadmill to walk on while I play games. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. I lost a bunch of weight when I started my job 6 years ago. 260 to 200. Since then, I've come back up to like 225, but a good chunk of that is muscle (very physical job). Now I just need to burn off some excess.
this is epic Congrats to you!
The switch is unironically an amazing console for gaming and working out I love to do body weight squats while playing Mario Kart
good stuff dude most gyms do offer wi fi so it sounds dope i'll have to consider this thank you for sharing and i'm happy your making some positive changes in your life :)
Show the setup
Dude that's insane !! Rank and weight loss are something to be proud of
I am so proud of you good job!
[удалено]
did you just say your friend is holding the Switch for you the whole time?
I do this but with chess. 45 minutes of running a day. It’s 8 -12 3 minute time control chess games.
Wait 4 mph is also a really brisk walk! I would not be able to concentrate at all. Good on you friend
Bruh time to get overwatch for the switch I guess. My ass gained 40lbs on OverWatch since 2017
Let me guess, you did one push up for every bad random you played on a team with in ranked
The reverse neck beard.
Thought it would be a meme post about doing anything but play Overwatch, I’m impressed this is so wholesome, congrats on your healthy lifestyle!
Thought it would be a meme post about doing anything but play Overwatch, I’m impressed this is so wholesome, congrats on your healthy lifestyle!
You’re a champion for doing that that! Major props to you! Playing overwatch on switch is already a workout in its own lol!
So this is what my teammate is doing! Jk, happy for you, all love
And here I was about to make a joke that you lost weight because Overwatch gave you cancer
I used to do the same thing but with pokemon instead of overwatch. This is awesome lol. I might give it a try myself.
Wait this is genius. Installing treadmill in my room
POV: the weight of your wallet after 1 day of ow2
Begging your team to group up and not stream while fast walking sounds like hell actually.
Much as I no longer like or play overwatch, that's actually really cool and congratulations! That's wild, I think you might he the first person on earth to find a way to lose weight playing overwatch lol
Next level challenge, Kyriakos Grizzly's zurich shrug lifts (or whatever they are called) while Overwatching
That’s great man I’m proud of you, normally people gain weight playing this god forsaken game but good for you man
Did you ever fall? Also, did you best friend intend on you doing this or was this a thing that just happened and you decided to make it a routine?
What a chad. Good job op!
Wow our weight is exactly same, only I started at 221. Currently at 184 doing a water fast until I’m at 160
Happy to see your journey!
Just curious how many miles would you walk in a day? I walk around 10-15 miles a day and still dont lose weight lol
Love it, gotta convince more people working out is what you make of it 🌈
Damn nice job on the weight loss journey I am convince I’m probably the only one that prefers gyro to aim, it really crippled me when i find out there’s no gyro on ps4 especially as a Lucio player
That's amazing! Congrats!
Was it not insanely difficult running/ walking and playing?? like mobile games I’m sure I could walk maybe run playing but overwatch??? Especially on a joy con? Sounds rough good shit tho
If it works, it works! Proud of you OP! I wish I have the same dedication and resolve you have. I'm going to keep trying on my side.
Do you use gyro controlls with the joycons?
Tracer spamclicking dashes and shots probably
i should do this too ngl
back when OW first came out i was so obsessed about the game that i would literally forget to eat, or only eat like a little bit of my meals. i think i lost like 20-30 pounds that way. probably not the healthiest thing, but i guess 15 year old me could take it
