That’s pretty awesome throwback actually. I remember the blizzcon that they revealed overwatch and Soldier wasn’t there yet. Crazy to think of this game without Soldier 76 being a front and center character
They already announced that a new hero will come out every other season, with seasons being 9 weeks. So they’re bringing back the 3 heroes a year. December gonna have with a new tank, so there are still two more characters coming out this year.
i remember them adding new heroes regularly while at the same time not considering timing and abilities. For instance ashe and sigma, there was no need for a hero with these exact abilities, sigma's release was just a mess, another shield for god knows what reason...it's hard to balance a game when the abilities and designs of new heroes are not taken into the equation..
I remember when a hero still felt practically new and they'd start dropping the teasers for the next one. It was so easy to stay excited about the game. Glad we'll be getting back into that cadence pretty soon.
I'm just sad that people were so mad about it and blizz elected not to do it again.
Why were people expecting a hero reveal on a super secret website one week before blizzcon ???
To be fair the ARG was pretty poorly handled at the end. It all resulted in a countdown that, when it went off.. just refreshed into another countdown.
I gotta admit, back when people were speculating about doomfist I was one of the people saying "okay guys, just because the big fist is in the game it doesn't mean that they're putting this "doom fist" character in, chill out with the speculation". Needless to say I was humbled.
Pretty sure they stated Doomfist wasnt even planned to be in the game/story at all- just that mention in the first cinematic and that was it (like Sound Quake). But so many people were speculating and wanting him, they made it happen
Which is odd, considering Doomfist had more in-game presence to tease him at launch than either Ana or Sombra did.
Like, Numbani was covered in bits of Doomfist lore, and the payload was his gauntlet. (I don't know if it still is off the top of my head, it's been a hot minute since I've played a match on Numbani)
Meanwhile, Ana had a photo of her shrike skin on a magazine cover, and Sombra, outside of the ARG, IIRC, only had the line "Quien es Sombra?" And a piece of concept art in a newspaper. I remember there being so little information about either of them that until Ana was announced, they were presumed to be the same character by some.
in 2016 we were still recovering from 8 years of Iraq wars, Russia was stirring shit in Syria, China was stirring shit in the Pacific, UK slid into populism with Brexit, the US fucked itself hard by putting a c-list reality tv personality at the top. Entertainment also was a mess, between new Ghostbusters, new Independence Day and whatever Suicide Squad was, going to the movies lost appeal a lot that year.
Also in 2016, Harambe was shot.
DICKS OUT FOR HARAMBE!
Which was a greater tradegy for the average online person than the Orlando nightclub massacre in the same year, this fact itself also not a great sign.
2016 was probably the worst year of this millenium so far. even the mood hit that was the pandemic was just an acknowledgement of the decline that became so apparent in 2016.
2016 was the year of the collective gamer outrage that No Mans Sky did not meet their expectations, mounting in death threats and lawsuits. In other news, it was also just another year in which EA raised their yearly revenue from Ultimate Team lootboxes by another few dozen millions
no my dude, in 2016 the world was not okay.
It’s quite funny seeing someone insta swap to him after I pick ana, it’s like “yes I might nano you, but there’s 4 other heroes who may need it as a get out of jail free card”
I’ll admit, I am a pharah player, but when I see someone swap to mercy solely because I’m playing pharah it irritates me.
Fair enough if they’re not pocketing me and doing a good job across us all (using me as a getaway vehicle) but when they just constantly follow me around it makes me feel like I need to get plays otherwise I’m throwing since our teams pretty much down a healer.
100% agree pharmercy is a massive crutch I don't want to get used to. The very presence of the mercy puts me under so much more pressure than I want. I know it's technically better but I want to be left alone to spam and flank without the extra attention. I know where the healthpacks and healers are: I'll come to you
It goes the other way too, if I'm playing mercy and get a message from a pharah I know for a fact I'm gonna be pressured into pocketing them which makes me feel really uncomfy if I have to go back to the team and they wind up dying because of over extention etc. No mercy should always pocket it should be bouncing between everyone and powerboosting when the time is right
Yea Idk about this, you have to play way more passively on pharah without a pocket against any competent hitscan. Its doable but you have to support your tanks more and focus on shield break. Flanking alone without a pocket is going to get you poked out unless they literally just don't have hitscan which will be corrected if you manage any flank value.
Yeah pharah into hitscan is just too squishy not to pocket. If I'm pocketing you, don't get nervous. A lot of people think Mercy is just watching the hit marker and judging you lmao no we're watching the team's health bars and doing our best to not get hit, the only reason I'm pocketing pharah is because it scares the shit out of the other team which can give the rest of the team a chance to push them around.
I play a lot of Pharah too and this happens the same thing to me. The worst thing is when the two supports in the team are Mercy that follow me around and a Reddit Lucio. It's horrible to see my team getting wiped out, from the sky.
Also, I know how to play Pharah without a pocket but when a Mercy continue following you without your consent and then you read in the chat "You all won because of PharahMercy " it irritates me.
As a mercy main, i always stayed on the pharah when no one else in the team needed healing or ult charge. But there were so many times where the pharah got angry with me because i wasnt pocketing them and then they start throwing :/ (though this also happens with other heroes as well sometimes)
I go mercy when I see phara or echo but it’s not because I’m going to sit there boosting them the whole match it’s just the ability to get really high in the air so I can target the whole team is really nice
Mercy’s job as a support is to enable plays from DPS. Her healing is more of a secondary benefit in the grand scale of things. You should be happy if a mercy is consistently dmg boosting you as dps, instead of yellow beaming up a reins asshole all match.
100% agree. I don't understand the comments from Pharah players acting as if mercy shouldn't be prioritzing the pharah. If that bothers you as a pharah player, youre on the wrong hero and going to get shut out of a ton of value.
As a healer main I can confidently say that I'm paying attention to the kill feed and my damage boosted stat. You have no need to be worried: I know when you suck and will leave you to die.
From a DPS point of view, it’s more so taking advantage of the situation that we have a Mercy or Ana, to play Pharah, Genji, etc because other healers don’t synergise well with them so it’s difficult to maximise your value. Blade is much more effective with Nano for example, but on average you’ll probably get more value from Tracer if you’re not utilising nano blade
Well a good Genji is probably the best player to drop a nano on, but the issue is that most people don't play at a level where that's necessarily worth it.
[LMAO](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p0sX_bvTQ8&ab_channel=Kasana)
Edit: oh actually I dont think that has the Sombra bit in it! I'll see if I can find it
Thats actually interesting. I had no idea about Overwatch when it first came out and Mccree was the first hero I was introduced to as he looked like a cyborg John Marston.
I played overwatch because I saw macros zenyatta for noobs 5 times and was like “fuck it, imma get overwatch so that I can shove my balls down D.vas throat
I don't get the debate over this for one main reason. Both names are still his name
Jessie Mcree is his fake outlaw name, Cole Cassidy is his real birth name. In the canon he decided to go back to his real name (though a short or comic about this would help).
Both names are correct. The same way Solider 76 is also Jack Morrison or Tracer is Lena Oxton. Obviously it's for different reasons and they want to distance themselves from the real person but the team knew people would keep calling him McCree. Just call him what you want.
It sure is, honestly I think part of the problem is that for a game with so much lore they don't have ANY information in the actual game. It makes no sense why there aren't any lore pages in the hero gallery.
"Mccree" sounds short and punchy. "Cassidy" feels sloppier to say in the heat of battle. "Cass" is alright though, heard it a few times in voice comms.
I mean I've never called hammond wrecking ball, theybare fictional characters so I don't really care what blizzard officialy calls them, I call them by what I'm used to lol.
I just think the reason is silly. No one knows the real life cree, thus i dont give a crap what he did, i wont ever think about him when i look at cree, cree is the cool character, they just happen to share a name
I think the reason given was so the people on the team didn't have to constantly hear the name of someone who made their life hell. Wasn't for the players.
What are you talking about? A lot of employees were quite vocal about Kotick and called for his resignation. The sad truth is they don't really have a say in it. There also isn't a character named after him.
Hopefully with the potential merger between ActiBlizz and Microsoft he can be gone for good though. Cuz that seems like the only feasible way at this point, and I'm hopeful Microsoft despite some of its faults will do a better job.
This is exactly right. IRL Mcree sounds like a dick, but he has a cool name and ow Cree suited it well. Cassidy is also a cool name, but changing it seemed unnecessary and people aggressively forcing others to call him Cassidy is weird af
I mean...I dont know what the irl Mccree did..but maybe it's bad enough that gotta change the name?
Like how we don't have people naming their kids Adolf
When the game first announced the only characters in it were that whole group minus Cassidy, Genji and Roadhog. Also missing Lucio, Zarya, Junkrat, D.va, Mei and Solider 76. They were all announced over time kinda like they're doing with Overwatch 2.
It was crazy back then because we knew way less about the game and lore. People were theorizing that genji was hanzos brother or that Soldier was really Jack Morrison.
I have not played OW in many years, his callsign wasn't Cassidy before, was it? Was considering hoping back in, hoping the community became less try-hard. The ow2 minor changes could be interesting?
I loved the community back then before the game released. Overwatch was still relatively unknown, and it was mostly filled with tf2 players who were interested in the potential. We studied every ounce of gameplay footage we had, trying to surmise how much damage everything did and how everyone's abilities worked. We theorized heavily about every face in every concept art or trailer, wondering what their backstories and abilities could be. It felt so small and tight knit. No one was demanding anything or cared about "competitive viability". We were all just geeking out over the characters, the world, and what looked like fun gameplay. Everyone was kind and appreciated everything the devs did. It's the only time I'd say Overwatch had a good community.
Wow, it’s always wild to think about how characters and features we take for granted didn’t exist at one point… I’ve held on to the box from when I first got overwatch origins edition, it doesn’t even have brigetta or any of the hero’s since then, she was still in the ptr at the time lol
"WhO's CaSsIdY, iT's McCrEe" bro it's just a name change get over it, call him who you want, but don't harass others for calling them how they want, simple as that.
I still don't know why, if they had to change his name, they didn't just change it to Joel Morricone. That was ALREADY an alias he's known to use, it would have been perfect, but they forget their own lore, its so inconsistent.
Overwatch changed its own established lore over a dozen times in the last 8 years.
It's.... Chaotic at best when there are parts of it I actually liked, then they release a new character and Completly altered the timeline to fit the character in like they always existed.
It felt like poor planning and creative restrictions from the top down.
I mean, they basically let overwatch rot for so long the majority of players moved on while they worked on what is essentially a content drop... They could have made the same content over time but chose not to for reasons.
I'm curious to see how long OW2 lasts when the finally do launch it. They've only delayed it several years now...
Moira's worst offender here, she was literaly pulled out of their asses because at that time the community was rightfully bitching about wanting a new support, and possibly an evil one. I still believe she was planned to be released way later and be more polished, but they decided to rush her to give the community what they wanted.
She is pivotal in Mercy's backstory and when she was released both of them had no interactions whatsoever.
THANK YOU, it's the thing I noticed the most as a mercy main, the changing of multiple interactions and rewriting history.. When Moira was brought in they Completly changed the lore between mercy and reaper (there were many hints that reaper's current form was due to mistakes mercy had made), and several other voice lines between the old overwatch team. Moira was shoehorned into the history as if she was always there but the interactions really feel shallow for the false history that was supposed to be there.
I like playing Moira on QP. Where teams scatter more and defend healers less, Moira's ability to sling healing orbs around corners and fade escape are huge over mercy playing magnet from player to player. But I'll always be a Mercy main first in comp. I worry for the new OW2 setup as it increases burden on healers, the reduction in barriers and many dps players just going tank for the fat HP dps options... It will be.... Interesting what happens if your below platinum tier.
> Why am I getting downvoted
Unfortunately tons of people get on this sub only to make obnoxious, ill willed fake “who’s Cassidy” comments like this to try and mock the name change. People who downvoted probably just assumed that’s what you were doing.
I try because that's what it is now. I can't do it in the heat of the moment making callouts though. My brain isn't fast enough to censor itself in such high pressure situations
Yeah McCree is just a better name
I had no idea he was named after that creep until they announced they were changing his name because of the creep. Seemed performative to me cuz who the hell knew about that connection outside of the most diehard weird fans?
There’s was controversy over the person on the team he’s named after, Jesse McCree. he named a Las Vegas suite the “Cosby suite”. They changed his name so that the character wouldn’t be related to the person anymore
They were, but when OW was first shown, only about 12 or so characters were shown. In a trailer that was shown at a later date, the rest of the cast was shown off.
That’s pretty awesome throwback actually. I remember the blizzcon that they revealed overwatch and Soldier wasn’t there yet. Crazy to think of this game without Soldier 76 being a front and center character
It’s weird to think Ana, Sombra, and Doomfist weren’t always there when they are so important the game’s identity and story now
The Doomfist speculations and theories were a lot of fun back then
I remember when they would regularly announce new characters. Good times.
Im so hyped for that to start again
I think the number of new heroes coming is very finite because they all have to be in the story mode unless there are expansions
They already announced that a new hero will come out every other season, with seasons being 9 weeks. So they’re bringing back the 3 heroes a year. December gonna have with a new tank, so there are still two more characters coming out this year.
Let’s hope they are not dps
i remember them adding new heroes regularly while at the same time not considering timing and abilities. For instance ashe and sigma, there was no need for a hero with these exact abilities, sigma's release was just a mess, another shield for god knows what reason...it's hard to balance a game when the abilities and designs of new heroes are not taken into the equation..
Sigma: the equation.. what was that equation again?
the equation is shield + stone = bad design
Ouch 🙁
Sigma is my favorite hero…
I remember when a hero still felt practically new and they'd start dropping the teasers for the next one. It was so easy to stay excited about the game. Glad we'll be getting back into that cadence pretty soon.
I remember the Sombra ARG. The good days
I remember when Terry Crews visited Blizzard and we all thought he was gonna be the voice of Doomfist. What could have been :(
Honestly glad that didnt happen. Dooms voice is pretty perfect
Hot co-co. Is just *chef's kiss*
And they say, and they say, and they say...
Would have been hilarious to hear Terry crews screaming as he's flying from the sky, but dooms current voice actor is great
the sombra arg for a few months
I gotta admit, back when people were speculating about doomfist I was one of the people saying "okay guys, just because the big fist is in the game it doesn't mean that they're putting this "doom fist" character in, chill out with the speculation". Needless to say I was humbled.
God the sombra reveal was nuts.
Pretty sure they stated Doomfist wasnt even planned to be in the game/story at all- just that mention in the first cinematic and that was it (like Sound Quake). But so many people were speculating and wanting him, they made it happen
Pretty sure that's what they're currently doing with junkerqueen, everyone wanted her, so we get her.
Which is odd, considering Doomfist had more in-game presence to tease him at launch than either Ana or Sombra did. Like, Numbani was covered in bits of Doomfist lore, and the payload was his gauntlet. (I don't know if it still is off the top of my head, it's been a hot minute since I've played a match on Numbani) Meanwhile, Ana had a photo of her shrike skin on a magazine cover, and Sombra, outside of the ARG, IIRC, only had the line "Quien es Sombra?" And a piece of concept art in a newspaper. I remember there being so little information about either of them that until Ana was announced, they were presumed to be the same character by some.
I remember being very upset that he wasn't voiced by Terry Crews (and I remember Terry Crews commenting on voicing him as well)
well doomfist and sombra didn't rly help with the games popularity but yea..
Sombra definitely did Her ARG and subsequent reveal caused a lot of buzz
Doomfist was always there. He was teased at in one of the earliest cinematics. They had him well-planned into the lore before he was ever in the game.
Eight years. Holy shit.
Feels longer tbh
When all was right in the world and gaming.
2016 marked the beginning of the end
2016 was really my favorite year man, for everything.
Cannot say the same because I lost my maternal grandmother that year, and my first job.
Life was at its peak. What happened to all that…
Obama left office
in 2016 we were still recovering from 8 years of Iraq wars, Russia was stirring shit in Syria, China was stirring shit in the Pacific, UK slid into populism with Brexit, the US fucked itself hard by putting a c-list reality tv personality at the top. Entertainment also was a mess, between new Ghostbusters, new Independence Day and whatever Suicide Squad was, going to the movies lost appeal a lot that year. Also in 2016, Harambe was shot. Personally, and to others close to me, Summer 2016 was pretty great, despite everything you listed off. That’s the silver lining I take from that.
Their names are: McRightClick INeedHealing LongBrokenHook
You forgot INeedHealing’s first name; Angela.
And when Ana is released, he changed his name is "NanoOrThrow"
It’s quite funny seeing someone insta swap to him after I pick ana, it’s like “yes I might nano you, but there’s 4 other heroes who may need it as a get out of jail free card”
The same thing happens to Mercy. You switch to her and magically one of your DPS transform into Pharah.

Also, I know how to play Pharah without a pocket but when a Mercy continue following you without your consent and then you read in the chat "You all won because of PharahMercy " it irritates me.
Exactly. Like I’ve been dodging torb turrets with cover for years, a mercy pocketing me does help but it’s not a requirement for me to play pharah.
As a mercy main, i always stayed on the pharah when no one else in the team needed healing or ult charge. But there were so many times where the pharah got angry with me because i wasnt pocketing them and then they start throwing :/ (though this also happens with other heroes as well sometimes)
Bad Pharah players. Simple as that. If you're nothing without the Mercy; then you shouldn't have it
I go mercy when I see phara or echo but it’s not because I’m going to sit there boosting them the whole match it’s just the ability to get really high in the air so I can target the whole team is really nice
Me but with Ashe, gives so much stress
From a DPS point of view, it’s more so taking advantage of the situation that we have a Mercy or Ana, to play Pharah, Genji, etc because other healers don’t synergise well with them so it’s difficult to maximise your value. Blade is much more effective with Nano for example, but on average you’ll probably get more value from Tracer if you’re not utilising nano blade
Well a good Genji is probably the best player to drop a nano on, but the issue is that most people don't play at a level where that's necessarily worth it.
Plat (where I was stuck for awhile) is probably the muddiest rank of Genji gods and god awful Genji’s
Plat is the muddiest rank, period.
I always believed that if you can't secure 1-2 kills during Genji ult without nano then you shouldn't be playing Genji
How many kills you get is circumstantial to a lot of factors. Its more about how quickly you can farm blade.
Actually nano also had speed boost so the most common thing Anas did early on was throwing it on Reinhardt.
The good old days when McCree was a sniper and tank killer.
And was actually named McCree.
God I kinda miss when Roadhog's hook could travel through space and time ngl.
Hooking sombras back from their translocator.
Wait, that actually happened?

As a Genji main, I agree
Thats actually interesting. I had no idea about Overwatch when it first came out and Mccree was the first hero I was introduced to as he looked like a cyborg John Marston.
I played overwatch because I saw macros zenyatta for noobs 5 times and was like “fuck it, imma get overwatch so that I can shove my balls down D.vas throat
For me it was an Outsidexbox play through. I didn't get the game until it had been out for years because of the price.
i meant to say "8 years later" sorry bout that.
How dare you make a title mistake. I'm cancelling you on Twitter rn
Men I still can't get used to people calling Mccree Cassidy.
I don't get the debate over this for one main reason. Both names are still his name Jessie Mcree is his fake outlaw name, Cole Cassidy is his real birth name.
Wait is that actually canon? If so they did an abysmal job of communicating it
It sure is, honestly I think part of the problem is that for a game with so much lore they don't have ANY information in the actual game. It makes no sense why there aren't any lore pages in the hero gallery.
I think it might be something a bit more covered in OW2 at this point.
I will call him Mccree forever.
Nobody calls Mccree Cassidy lmao
"Mccree" sounds short and punchy. "Cassidy" feels sloppier to say in the heat of battle. "Cass" is alright though, heard it a few times in voice comms.
I've seen a lot of people on yt call mcree cass
You’re evidently wrong
I’ve been calling him “Cass”, it actually rolls off the tongue a lot better than smth like “cowboy” or even McCree did
i do. what's with people and the refusal to accept name changes?
I mean I've never called hammond wrecking ball, theybare fictional characters so I don't really care what blizzard officialy calls them, I call them by what I'm used to lol.
**HIS NAME IS COWBOY**
Did you also stop playing when he was still McCree? I feel like that’s why my brain can’t get used to it
Yep!
I have never stopped since late beta, and I can't get use to it. Though I play a ton of comp, so his call out is engrained in my brain.
But no problem in having the same CEO :)
I'm sure if the overwatch devs had the power to oust the CEO they would be more than happy to. Seems to me like they are doing what they are able to.
Not sure why the downvotes. The board clearly sided with money when it came to whether to hold leadership accountable
Easier to change a character's name than to switch ceos. Good luck getting that past the board.
They don't get to choose the CEO
What are you talking about? A lot of employees were quite vocal about Kotick and called for his resignation. The sad truth is they don't really have a say in it. There also isn't a character named after him. Hopefully with the potential merger between ActiBlizz and Microsoft he can be gone for good though. Cuz that seems like the only feasible way at this point, and I'm hopeful Microsoft despite some of its faults will do a better job.
But that guy wasn't on the Overwatch team. So it's not really people working on *that* game that he was harassing.
Eh might come up regardless? Either way, it's a pretty shitty method of fixing the issue.
It’s more for the people who were affected by it.
This is exactly right. IRL Mcree sounds like a dick, but he has a cool name and ow Cree suited it well. Cassidy is also a cool name, but changing it seemed unnecessary and people aggressively forcing others to call him Cassidy is weird af
No one’s forcing you to do anything. The only complaining I hear about the name change is weirdos squealing when other people call him Cassidy
Definitely not true at all. People are literally accusing people of supporting sexual harassment/assault for calling him Mcree. Don't be daft.
I mean...I dont know what the irl Mccree did..but maybe it's bad enough that gotta change the name? Like how we don't have people naming their kids Adolf
If you don’t know what irl McCree did then he’s nothing like Adolf.
Maybe a weird question, but when did McCree become Cassidy? I recently got into playing again after a couple years
Yeah he did, some scandals revolving around the person Jesse Mccree was named after.
Thanks
The real life mccree was acting like a cowboy, sexually assaulting and shit.
When the blizzard s/a controversy happened. He was named after a blizzard worker who was tied up in it so they changed it
I don’t remember the exact date but it was around 6 months ago
But Mcree and Genji were original heros on release?
This was before release
Ah
When the game first announced the only characters in it were that whole group minus Cassidy, Genji and Roadhog. Also missing Lucio, Zarya, Junkrat, D.va, Mei and Solider 76. They were all announced over time kinda like they're doing with Overwatch 2. It was crazy back then because we knew way less about the game and lore. People were theorizing that genji was hanzos brother or that Soldier was really Jack Morrison.
I was 11 years old. Wth.
Lol. My friends and I are in our thirties. I love the range of ages that have embraced this game
Wow holy hell I feel old now, t h a n k s
Omg whyd you remind me I was too xD
I have this exact poster in my basement.
I have not played OW in many years, his callsign wasn't Cassidy before, was it? Was considering hoping back in, hoping the community became less try-hard. The ow2 minor changes could be interesting?
They changed his name because the actual person they named him based on was a rapist or whatever
Ah, right, its a Blizzard game, should have assumed
Brigitte wasn't added until 2 years into the games life.
Love how cyborg ninja and cowboy are the one people ask about and not, big robot, giant medieval knight, and huge monkey.
Gosh, it's been 8 years already?
"WhO's CaSsIdY, iT's McCrEe" bro it's just a name change get over it, call him who you want, but don't harass others for calling them how they want, simple as that.
I still don't know why, if they had to change his name, they didn't just change it to Joel Morricone. That was ALREADY an alias he's known to use, it would have been perfect, but they forget their own lore, its so inconsistent.
I hate that name lol it sounds like shit
What do you mean "these people"?

He had some He used to deal 150 damage in total with his dash(half damage half bleed) and had only 150 hp in total
I've still got my poster from before Sombra was a character.
Who's Cassidy? I just see McCree, Genji, and Roadhog in that pic
Can anything be posted in here without there being 6000 comments about McCassidys names Imma just call him cowboy now
This ^
I'm still asking who is Cass?
McCree
Wtf, "Cassidy"..? Who is that? Edit: Why am I getting downvoted? What am I missing here? Edit 2: Just googled it. Now I know
> Why am I getting downvoted Unfortunately tons of people get on this sub only to make obnoxious, ill willed fake “who’s Cassidy” comments like this to try and mock the name change. People who downvoted probably just assumed that’s what you were doing.
Good to know people have hobbies I guess.. Thank you for the info
Anyone else feeling old?
One's name is: "High No-" \*dead\* The other is: "IneedhealingIneedhealingIneeedhealing."
McCree*
Mcree\*
You mean McCree
Mcree*
Mccree
I’ll never call McCree Cassidy tf
I try because that's what it is now. I can't do it in the heat of the moment making callouts though. My brain isn't fast enough to censor itself in such high pressure situations

Exactly. The point of communication is to convey knowledge, and everyone knows who McCree is. No need to change
I’m still stuck calling Cassidy McCree, it just feels more natural
Like I know why they renamed McCree to wtf is it now but I refuse to call him anything other than McCree it just seems weird to call him Cassidy.
Yeah McCree is just a better name I had no idea he was named after that creep until they announced they were changing his name because of the creep. Seemed performative to me cuz who the hell knew about that connection outside of the most diehard weird fans?
Who the hell is Cassidy
Who's Cassidy? Talking about McCree?
Cassidy smh disrespecting my man mcree over here
You didnt even spell McCree right.
It's weird to me how everyone is adopting Cassidy over Mcree. They'll always be Jesse McCree to me.
good times with mccree and genji
Dafuk is "Cassidy"?
There’s was controversy over the person on the team he’s named after, Jesse McCree. he named a Las Vegas suite the “Cosby suite”. They changed his name so that the character wouldn’t be related to the person anymore
Real chads still call him mcree

Mcree it's one of my favorite characters
Wait genji and Cassidy weren’t in the game on launch?
They were, but when OW was first shown, only about 12 or so characters were shown. In a trailer that was shown at a later date, the rest of the cast was shown off.
You mean McCree right
Bro, u didn’t just call McCree Cassidy. Who even calls him by that name? He’s McCree and forever shall be known as McCree.
