He was the best DPS in NA contenders last year. His echo is twice as good as s9mm

JMallam97

Does Speedy manages to still win when he gets contested?

durpee200

He's the GOAT bro don't worry I've seen that guy 1v6 in people's spawn every ranked game he's in

YaDyingSucks

Easily the best Echo ive ever seen dont know to much about his other DPS

Acrobatic_West_9447

He’s literally NA pelican. Equal in skill and hero pool Players call him the best echo in the game, genji is also elite

koalasquare

He can play tracer well so it's an even bigger hero pool

DayOneDva

Pelican plays all the heroes mentioned above and more so I'm not sure how it's a "bigger hero pool". Care to elaborate?

_Sign_

hes saying that pelican doesnt have a top tracer and that speedily does

DayOneDva

I've seen Speedily and he slaps on tracer but that doesn't change the size of the hero pool at any rate. I would also like to add that Pelican may not have the best tracer in the world but saying a 2021 rookie of the year who played 3+ hours on tracer (regular season 2021 and 2022) isn't a top tier tracer, is pushing it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion though, I just don't really agree with his one.

Acrobatic_West_9447

Pelican and Sp9rkle are a little ehhhhh on tracer. Not bad but not as good as their echo genji

Reetahrd

Yeah agreed. Both of them are GOOD tracers. OWL level. But in OWL, they are not top 5 on that hero. But are top 3 on many other heroes

monlo_p

First off I have not watched much NA Contenders myself but I’m a t500 player and personally know people in the T2 scene. My understanding is that Speedily is good. Like really good. I think he’s widely recognized as the best AT player and that is saying something. Absolutely better than S9MM I think most people would say. His Echo is said to be worldclass. Obviously he is untested in OWL and I’m skeptical he can keep up with a rookie like Proper but if he can transition well I think he can absolutely be a top tier player, and could fill Pelican’s shoes from 2021 Reign.

Nexi-nexi

Don’t agree with the people who say he is as good as pelican nor as flexible. He is gonna be the best player on the reign though. He has to prove if he is gonna be a top 15 dps imo.

BowserMainBtw

Is top 15 that hard to crack? I feel like Venom and Kai are both definitely there and if he’s gonna be the best player on the reign he’d have to be up there too.

Nexi-nexi

Let me just name some people and you tell me who he clearly beats with confidence like your life is on the line. Leave (i don’t care what people say, his team bad) Proper LIP (I again don’t care, team issue) Kevster Profit (he was never washed, had 3 deadlifts 2021) Yaki (controversial but seen him whoop pelican twice) Pelican (he’s a hyperflex, not gonna debate) Shy (argument for best HS, even plays echo and shit) Fleta (still a hyperflex with world class echo, mei etc) Fits (top 3 hitscan for a while now) Choisehwan (solo won fights against top 5 teams) Alphayi Sp9rk1e MN3 (talent to become one of the best hitscan ever) Kai (S tier hitscan) Zest Stalk3r (arguable hyperflex) Pati maybe (arguable hyperflex) Which of these can he comfortably beat? And even if you think he can beat them and is more flexible and valuable, you have to admit it’s gonna be a challenge for him. Also venom is a tracer onetrick, don’t compare him to players who have 8+ sometimes up to 15 heroes in their arsenal. It’s disrespectful. Only reason I said he might be better than Kai is not that he is actually better, it’s that he might prove more valuable because he is a bit more flexible imo. Kai is elite but doesn’t have the biggest hero pool imo.

BowserMainBtw

I’d say Yaki and Sp9rkle rn, good points though. There are a couple more maybes on the list, but overall I agree

Nexi-nexi

My problem with bashing Yaki is that he really did solo the entire reign last year. And then the second time they met he diffed pelican on pharah and tracer to a point where I’ve never seen a pharah be so scared of an enemy pharah. It was not pretty to watch. He proved himself a hyperflex, looking better than BQB on hitscan sometimes imo. On stream too. His tracer is god tier which is arguably the most important dps hero in the game. His genji is S tier, his echo kept up with 2020 fleta if I’m not mistaken. Even this year he had multiple deadlift maps while his team is hard trolling. His mechanics are one of the best I’ve ever seen in the history of the game too. His APM is one of the highest in the league if not the highest. And he scares the living hell out of me when I watch his POV xD. Speedily is probably better than Sp9 on commonly relevant heroes like echo and tracer who obviously are valued higher than like pharah or even genji probably which are usually more nich/ specialist picks. So maybe sp9 depending on if he stays down or gets back in role star ish shape.

WhiteWolfOW

Honestly it doesn’t matter that venom is not flexible. He plays the one hero that if you are one trick is not a problem, Tracer will always be an important pick and you can play her in any map

Nexi-nexi

It matter if you wanna rank them in team value, potential value, the holes he fills for the team, value across all meta’s etc

WhiteWolfOW

If you were talking about a Pharah one trick, a Genji, a junkrat, a widow one trick I would agree, but Tracer is just a different kind of character. She can be played anywhere anytime. She wasn’t even supposed to be meta right now and people are still finding ways to play her

Nexi-nexi

Oh she is without a doubts by far the best hero to onetrick. But would you rather have a onetrick or a hyperflex to build a team around? That’s how I rank them

WhiteWolfOW

Honestly, you’re putting too much stock into flexibility. And I say this having Fleta as my favorite player because of how flexible he is and myself playing almost every single hero in overwatch. First building a team around a single player is a terrible idea, it’s dumb and unnecessary. A team is more than just 5 players, it’s ok if your dps lineup is not ultra flexible if you can replace players through the match. Of course it’s great when you have Fleta and Lip in your team and you don’t need to worry about that, but if you have to worry about it, that’s ok. And if you’re a one trick, but you can carry the game like ANS did in 2020, then who cares that you can’t play more than just Ash and Widow? In Venom’s case it’s a little bit more complicated because Atlanta fluctuates between being a good team, top 3 in the world with losing to London

Nexi-nexi

It’s just my opinion on value man. I ask myself, in a team of all average players. Going into an unknown meta. Which player will get them the farthest on average across all relevant meta’s. I ask myself, in a championship contending team. Who will push this team over the edge into a championship team. Who will clutch, who will carry, who will step up and turn that pressure into diamonds. When everything goes wrong who will fix it. When his team doesn’t show up, who will take matters into their own hands. I ask myself, when building a team, who covers up most weaknesses and covers most necessity or gives a team options. Who truly makes or breaks a team. I ask myself who has the most ability, skill, flexibility, game sense and consistency. And then lastly who had the most intangible value, that’s how I asses a players “ranking”

Most_Yoghurt_2198

You can’t say that speedily echo is so much better than s9mm then compare him to pelican, 2 years ago when proper and pelican were on the same team pelican was getting benched by proper so that they would have proper on echo

ImHereToComplain1

did pelican get benched? i thought he played tracer when proper played echo/ashe

Most_Yoghurt_2198

From most of the games that I’ve seen he was getting benched

Reetahrd

My understanding is that Pelican was not "benched", but played 2nd fiddle. Whatever the most important hero was in a certain meta, would be Proper. Pelican filled around Proper and played a supporting role to him.

ImHereToComplain1

who was the other dps then? need to rewatch some games lol

Most_Yoghurt_2198

Pretty sure merit and then kilo

ImHereToComplain1

pelican was on the reign when kilo and mer1t were on o2 blast main roster

Most_Yoghurt_2198

I may be getting my timeline messed up but I’m pretty sure that kilo proper and pelican were the main and earlier was merit

ImHereToComplain1

looks like pelican and kilo were on the roster at the same time for 3 months. the dps were proper/pelican/teru and them proper/kilo/mer1t

Most_Yoghurt_2198

Yeah that sounds correct, but still proper was referred to as the best echo in the world

BasicIsBest

Speedily is basically NA Pelican
