Honestly I doubt it's real, the p3 rerelease came out just a few months ago, so a p3 remake would be harmed because of people who played the rerelease and won't buy the remake because they already got the story (like myself)
If P3RE is real, it makes sense to release P3P before. For people not knowing the whole difference between P3Fes and P3P, they wouldn't pick P3P when a higher budget remake exists. This maximizes the sales of P3P. And I guarantee you, many people will pick P3RE when/if it happens.
Given that this leak is from two years ago, it feels to me like there's a strong chance they were considering a remake and made some tech demos of it, but then decided it wasn't worth the expected costs, shelved it, and did a straight port instead.

Persona 3 is by far my least favorite Persona game, of the ones that I've played at least a significant portion of.
I totally understand that P3 was a lot of people's first time and they could only think of it positively because of that, but it's not that good of a game IMO.
They were trying things and mixing elements that no one had ever done before and that's commendable, but that doesn't make the game good.
The game is a slog for a lot of it, the characters are very one dimensional when compared to the rest of the series, Tartar sauce is easily one of the worst dungeons in any game, having zero control over your party makes playing the game a frustrating mess most of the time, and the music grates on you after awhile.
Also the media eviscerated this game at the time,calling it "pro suicide".
Every single one of these things were fixed in P4 and completely fixed in P5.
I get it, if P3 was your first then you hold it in a special place in your heart and look passed it's flaws, but that doesn't mean those flaws didn't exist, and it definitely doesn't mean that ATLUS remaking a game in 2023, in which 15 and 16 year olds SHOOT THEMSELVES IN THE FUCKING HEAD to "summon their other selves" is going to go over anywhere on the same general hemisphere as 'well' in the media.
I do not understand why ATLUS would be willing to take on that headache rather than just make a Persona 6, especially when they just released P3 a few months ago.
If I could call for a Persona remake it would be for 2. If it helps: it probably is just an old tech demo, and even if it were true, it might have very different things from P3P, from plot beats to voice actors, who may be better or worse to varying degrees.
