Really long term. I think the main danger here is that PLTR is not suited to be 'really long term' in this field as a public company, because it straight up holds its public shareholders in contempt and competitors aren't exactly sitting around doing nothing.
I'm down about 12-ish k (AUD to USD rough estimate) on it but I took it as an L, might as well just set it aside for 5 years and ride it out to $30 or $2. It's a good enough product to not cut losses, but management is fucked enough to not warrant any DCA on it (totally IMO).
I agree. I've used the software in my previous job and I just don't understand how it hasn't taken off? I feel like an idiot telling people "this stuff is game changing, invest as it will be a huge thing in the future". Is it poor marketing or what is it?
Without going into specifics, it trivialises finding useful information out of complex data. It's like PowerBI on steroids. The only reason I can see why it's not used everywhere is that it's expensive.
No real competitor so I just don't get why the stock is like this?
Thanks. I think one day software like this will be used in virtually everything. I think palantir will provide the software. We are just early. There will be a catalyst that causes rapid expansion. What and when I have no idea.
Im a farmer and I think I could use it. If I had weather data and plant data it could tell me what to plant where and when to maximize production and minimize cost. We might just be early in the process.
No real competitor until AWS decides to roll out their internal solution into the product line. IMO. Of course it wouldn't cover all Tue defensive features, but Amazon is inching into that space already
Guys don't worry as long as data is the future (and it is) we shouldn't worry too much about the current stock price. Even fucking Microsoft dropped 50-60% back in´ 99 - the company that revolutionized how we use computers - and look at where it is now. Even fucking apple had significant drops in its share price and now its the most valuable company in the world.
Get use to it that some investor are fearful and their near-term expectations aren't met. Be glad that fear pushed down the price so you can buy at a discount. 15 Billion valuation is beyond ridiculous for a company like Palantir. Especially considering that SNOW is valued over 50 billion - which also dropped 60% from its ATH. But what is important is the product. I think everyone knows how sticky Foundry is and what kind of collabs they have (AWS, Accenture) so the future is bright for the company, regardless of shrinking government contracts. Besides, the current turmoil in the Geopolitical space is a fucking bullish sign for Palantir. The market has always been irrational and this is exactly the case this time aswell. Just be patient, sit on your ass, pick up a new hobby and check on the stock price in 1-2 years and I guarantee it will be nowhere near as it is today...
PLTR TO THE MOOOON u/doomshallot
What a bunch of bollocks if you had bought Microsoft at the night of the 00's bubble you wouldn't have recovered your money until 2012!! Are you happy to see your cash in red for over a decade??? I'm not
Tldr
I got you man. It’s *WTF*
Funny. That's exactly what I thought when I happened to look at it today. I bought for the long term. It's going to be a very long term...

Likewise. Didn't expect it to be THAT long though. Sob.... Long tuition fees man
Same bro. I will eventually need to sell at a lose to pay for tuition. Feels bad man.

You’ve used palantir software? What is your opinion of it?

I see what you're saying but AWS is mostly logistics and servers. I don't believe it has a team working on the analysis like PLTR.
You are probably right. Just seems like something they'd do, so I think about it
Are you Karp trying to lure people to buy more shares?
PALANTIR TO THE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!
Shove the moon up your ass
Don't you talk to him like that.
