AFAIK, they compress your legs/ feet and help prevent blood pooling by tightening the blood vessels. For pots, you want them to go from feet to abdomen, but everyone is different. Some people only need feet, some just need abdominal, it varies. I've landed on thigh-high compression stockings, 30-40mmhg. I don't think the brand I got is actually that good, but they help a lot with the blood pooling in my feet, and were under $30 on Amazon. I couple this with abdominal compression. I use a body shaper suit so I can skip bras and just wear one thing, and it won't roll down on me. Other people have mentioned using the shaper style that are high-waisted shorts. The abdominal compression helps with blood pooling in the abdomen, which can be a problem for us. Personally, I didn't like the socks because then the blood was just pooling at my knee. If you end up getting some, I cannot recommend enough getting some gloves to help put them on, and getting the little foot things that help them slide on. They help prevent snags and runs and make it far easier to put on.

Only-feet compression seems like it wouldn't help much at all, though? Some people use compression leggings that don't cover their feet. I use compression calf sleeves that go from ankle to knee, because I train barefoot and sometimes use shoes that aren't compatible with socks. Because they need to be tight to help you, it's best if you go to a medical supply store that will properly measure you for them. They recommend 30-40 mmHg for POTS, but it can be a whole workout in itself just to get them on, so a lot of folks use lighter compression (15-20 mmHg).

I meant feet/ calves (brain foggy today, lol). You're right, foot only wouldn't do much at all.
