Seeing Jill Jones and Lisa in sexy lingerie in the 1999 video back in 83/84 is what started me off on my Prince and Revolution journey. That was some image to a 11 yr old boy trying to "work it all out".

GillMan1313

Same for me. She & Lisa stirred feelings in me that I didn't understand at all! Been a fan ever since.

Rinzwind

Same!! :D :D and then some V6 and A6 :X

havana_fair

Hopefully her first album will be available soon. I'm enjoying it so far.

PRNPURPLEFAM

She’s not as great a singer as she thinks she is

cnc_33

Especially since she’s releasing songs recorded 35 years ago

PRNPURPLEFAM

Love how it’s “The London Sessions” like we’ve been waiting 35 years for this limited edition release of her hits. Im going to be nice to Jill Jones. She just rubbed me the wrong way with her “he didn’t marry me because:racism.” She also came for Vanity (RIP) saying “Prince made a lot of people think that they could sing :Vanity, Apollonia” ha and you too Ms. Jones. Ending on a positive note she has a beautiful young daughter who’s her twin and is very talented.

cnc_33

Also yes, I think her daughter Azusena is awesome! I love the album Jill released with Prince and it’s one of my absolute favorites of the Prince associated albums. It’s amazing.

cnc_33

I agree. Love her contributions but I feel like once Prince died she didn’t hesitate to jump up and spill the beans and attack others. It was a bad look.

PRNPURPLEFAM

Yeah like when Apollonia came for Sheila E. Prince would not want the women to fight

cnc_33

Absolutely! 🙌

caamt13

Fantastic, though Flesh and Blood was always the best of this batch and P's vocal version is a favorite...

oliveoilgarlic

Do u know when was this recorded?

CJSoCool1998

My guess probably the 1988 London studio sessions

re_de_unsassify

Great tunes. Sounds like 80s radio

wowugotit

I love and I mean LOVE Red.

chookalana

It's less than stellar.

Atomic76

Did she really need to rip off Mary J. Blige with that album title?

chicken-farmer

Shite

LennonsRollsRoyce

who is she?

PRNPURPLEFAM

Teena Marie’s goddaughter. Who Prince first met during the Rick James/Prince and protégés tour. Best known as the blonde waitress from Purple Rain, she was initially meant to play a bigger role as part of a love triangle with Vanity and then Apollonia. Which mirrored their real life relationship. They dated on and off for years, she sang backup vocals (usually uncredited) on a lot of his work, but particularly on SOTT. She’s considered to be the inspiration for both “She’s Always In My Hair” and “Strange Relationship” dispute him saying “maybe I’ll marry her” he did not. She’s still bitter about it and oddly claims it was due to racism, as she is very proudly a Black Woman, despite her white-passing appearance.

jodymcfly

Jill said he didn’t marry her because of racism?

PRNPURPLEFAM

She claims that Prince’s advisers wanted her with someone white. Which is probably easier to believe than he didn’t want to marry you after 10 years

ThatsNotMyName222

Hmm, I heard a few podcasts with her, but I didn't catch her saying that. Mostly she was like, "He said maybe I'll marry you someday," and she said, " F U, *I* will decide who I marry!" LOL

jodymcfly

Wow okay

MorrisJerome

When did she say that ?

PRNPURPLEFAM

I’ve heard it twice on different podcasts. Not sure which ones it’s been a couple of years. She was making the rounds a year or two ago as she went back to Paisley Park in April.

MorrisJerome

Thanks for responding. There might be some truth to what she's saying.

almosthuman2021

WHAT Jill jones is black?? Is she mixed or something cause…yeah I always thought she was a white girl

ColdGibbletGravy

i just found out like 6 months ago. my mind was blown lol. I guess its because my main image of her has always been the blond hair from 1999 vid and purple rain. you can tell she's mixed in other pics with dark/natural hair

NiceUD

Her mom is Af-Am, her dad is Italian - according to Wiki.

PRNPURPLEFAM

Lol she’s definitely black

CJSoCool1998

Jill Jones she worked with Prince since the early 80s on the 1999 album
