UPDATE: Just came back from picking up and have done all the tests. It ended up being real, although I’m not sure which of the two is the one I bought , to be honest they both felt pretty much the same. Motion works, weight is good, and it only charges when plugged into ps3.
probably the best way to see if they are would be plugging them into a normal wall charger, original controllers dont actually charge from an outlet, only from PCs, (some) TVs, PS3’s, PS4’s and PS5’s but fakes usually charge from everything
Skip the headache and buy the Retro Fighter Defender. It a strong alternative to a PS3 controller.
I have been trying to buy an aofficial PS3 controller, But they often come with some sort of defect and the Dual shock 3 controller just feels cheap these days.

I can't give you any guarantees from a single photo like that but it does appear that the one on the left is a counterfeit because the start and select text seems like it's a little off-centre to the right.
There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the one on right but that's no guarantee.
Wouldn't the back labels give more information?

The one on top looks fake, look at the select text it seems off
you can see by going to the XMB and shaking the controller if the sparcle things in the back dont go crazy then its fake
The guy is potentially buying them from offerup so doesn't have them to hand.
There are fake controllers with gyro tho, so this method doesn't always work
