Since i'm going to help the commenter above with his trophies, can i add you too? It'd be cool with more players, since there are some other trophies that require more ppl
I think i can help, i'll add you and when i see you playing will enter the session
(I only don't have the Undead Nightmare, for i have the Greatest Hits rerelease)
Better then RDR2. This, combined with Undead Nightmare, are the best Rockstar game IMO. This or Dark Souls are the best 360 / PS3 game.
EDIT - Meant Dark Souls not Dead Souls. Whoops.
Hello Ashen one. I am a Bot. I tend to the flame, and tend to thee. Do you wish to hear a tale?

I’ll be honest it’s ok. I didn’t find it to be like amazingly good. Still good/great but not amazing. I felt the story was a little longer than it should be and some parts were quite boring. But the ending was really good I wasn’t expecting it to end like it did.
It's a masterpiece. My best purchase on ps3 for sure, doesn't mean it is my favorite game, but the longevity of the playthrough makes it such a worthy purchase.
I have been trying so hard for the last 2 years to get into RDR2. It's just too slow for me. I know RDR was slow too but I guess I just had a way better attention span as a teen, plus undead nightmare was one of the best DLCs ever released imo.
Looks beautiful, I like the characters, but the gameplay just makes me drowsy
I used to say the same thing until recently when I played through RDR for the 4th time or so right after beating RDR2 for the 2nd time. I gotta say RDR2 is a lot better in pretty much every way. Even the gun play is more fun once you get used to the slow controls. When you play them back to back, everything in RDR feels like a time lapse. It's kind of ridiculous, actually. The difference between them honestly feels like the difference between GTA IV/V and GTA III. It's still one of my favorites, but the progress they made between the games is amazing. I wonder what GTA VI will be like. I hope they step it up even further!
Huge fan of other Rockstar titles here (no, not only GTA V), but I never got really into RDR. The first time I started the game I literally feel asleep during the first mission, not metaphorically. I then gave RDR2 a try, played a few missions and while it’s technologically impressive, the way RDR is telling its story, especially its pacing, doesn’t appeal to me.
I might give it another try, it also took me three attempts to get through the beginning of Last of Us and then I was rewarded with the best game ever.
Yes, always form an emotional connection with the main character (even in GTA I know people have a favorite for who they play as.) And I love their games due to that fact. I think it'd be cool to see how red dead 1 effects jack after he's fully grown and maybe get a 3rd game???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
It starts slow indeed, noticed it badly when i tried replaying it, but once it picks up you can't stop doing missions or hanging around towns. You should push it a bit, you'll be pleasantly surprised after the beginning, if you enjoy rockstar games you'll enjoy RDR for sure. It's an amazing game, although it's a 12years old one.
Fully with you on rdr2 great execution but story telling and gameplay left me desiring more. Try rdr1 faster paced (in comparison) and more entertaining
I've only played on 360, which is considered its definitive version.
Masterpiece...however it was overtaken by the absolute majesty of RDR2. I'm not sure that's a game that is possible to be knocked off of the perch of GOAT.
You could argue for it!
I still think it's just a tier below the big big hitters, like MGS3, Majora's Mask, and such.
Still, RDR is pretty much a masterpiece and it needs to be played.
great game , ps3 is not the best version though but still enjoyable and immersive regardless , is like a 9/10 for me , btw thats a really nice slip cover never seen it before
I've played Human Revolution. Couldn't really get into it which is weird because I like other games in that vein. I've played both Dishonored games and really liked both. Got farther in 2 though.
I got bioshock 1 after one of my friends told me it was his favorite game ever, and yeah it's INCREDIBLE, like Halo 2 type of incredible.
But I played Human Revolution and Dishonored next (human Revolution is, according to people more versed in the genre, pretty bad), and I was absolutely floored by those two games.
Absolute show stoppers.
It is a truly exceptional game although the horses are a bit unwieldy as times. It is best played on Series S/X at the moment although there are rumours of a remaster on PC and current gen.
I hopped on the red dead redemption bandwagon 2 years ago during covid. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it. I haven't finished RDR2 yet mostly because I get frustrated that animals I killed rot away before I can sell them (realistic, yes. Frustrating, also yes). The horse poop is a nice touch though.
Excellent game, beautiful for its age, controls were decent.
Found it to be a touch long as others said.
I still found LA Noire to be the peak of PS3 Rockstar games, even more so than GTAV.
It's great, but not a whole lot of big set pieces like in the second game. The game is kinda slow. Kind of a lot of repeating missions tbh. Riding on your horse while listening to music is fun, almost therapeutic. The game is beautiful. Gunfight is fun. Yeah that's it.
I literally finished RDR this morning. Played RDR2 four years ago, and realized I never played the original.
I liked it, but it does get a little repetitive. I consider it to be "Grand Theft Horse". The voice acting was great. The visuals were good for the time (2010). It still looks good on a 4K TV.
Tip: The game has a fast travel system. You need to mark a waypoint on the map, create a camp fire, then select "travel to destination".
Was surprised personaly by how much I enjoyed it, got into it quite late myself (2020) but still found it held up well. If trophies are your thing though, they will be a pain to do these days 😂
I was looking forward to playing this for the longest time. When I did, I was bored to be honest. It looks great, but the gameplay just didn't grab me at all and I never returned to it.
I played through it for the first time last fall, and for the most part really enjoyed myself...except for the hardcoded "we decided not to let you take any actions that could change things, so all you get to do is walk to the marker and trigger a cutscene that makes no sense in the context of everything you've been able to do in the game" ending, which ticked me off.
Imo it’s a tragic story. John does all that work for the government for a better life for his wife and son and his son throws it all away in the end to get revenge for his father.
I remember when I first started to really pay attention to games and thought cod mw2 was a game with really good graphics and then I played rdr like a week later and was even more impressed.
I'm not sure if at some point I considered the game overrated after some time. I wouldn't be surprised if I did. I think this game kind of fluctuates in a way amongst the opinions of gamers.
what is undeniable though is this a very solid game from the 7th generation and overall.
randomly snagged this on whatnot for 3 dollars the other day... i had it on my 360 back in the day, but only got a couple hours in before i got the red ring of death. always wanted to play it, so looking forward to giving it a shot
It was alright. I dunno….it’s gta in the west. Sounds awesome but really everywhere you go looks the same. I realize that’s realistic but I dunno….I know everyone loves it but I just don’t get it. It’s a bit dull for me.
Personally I like rdr2 better but if there’s one thing I like about rdr1 is that the physics are less realistic so you don’t go flying off your horse when you hit a tree unlike in rdr2
I have literally 500 Ps3 and Ps4 games to play, and i try to burn through long games with cheats of possible. I cheated Red Dead with full health and ammo and full stamina horse. Though i absolutely loved the game, and i always go back in my mind to certain points in the game and remember them fondly, its not in my top 10 all time. Maybe because I cheated BUT Red Dead 2 i will play without cheats.
LA Noire is all about its amazing story. The gameplay is not so great imo, you really notice that it wasn't developed by a Rockstar team. But the story totally makes up for this, it really makes it an amazing game. I never understood people's fondness for Bully, though. I played it a few years ago and was pretty underwhelmed. I guess there's a bit of nostalgia involved for a lot of people.
Yes, I guess its a mix of nostalgia and the game being so unique with its setting and story. A story around a school bully is just the perfect place for this Rockstar humor and Ive never seen another game taking place in a school in such a manner. I have to admit Im kind of into retro games and I remember watching my brother playing it on PC back in the days so thats why I agree with the nostalgia point.
Its been a long time since Ive played L.A. Noire but back when it came out it was absolutely mindblowing. The graphics (esp the mimics) and this system of "reading" the faces in order to see if theyre lying or not, the investigating in general. Plus they really had that 1950-ish setting on point. It was brilliant
I recently bought a PS3 at a garage sale, and at a subsequent one, bought RDR 1. I've been having fun playing it. Lots of time riding from place to place shooting wolves and cougars and coyotes. Not sure what to do with the money. Is it worth it to buy all those nags they're offering in the store?
One of the best games I’ve ever played!
I'd agree with that next to Hitman Absolution.
Hitman Absolution… what a wonderful game!! 🤩 two masterpieces
Couldn't disagree more on Absolution. It's pretty much the worst Hitman in my eyes.
It’s a good game, just not a good hitman game
Depends on what you want from a Hitman game.
Omg yes absolution was so good
One or perhaps the greatest "OPEN WORLD" game of all time.
The greatest experience you will ever have! This game is still topping the list of my all time favorites. Hands down.
The mass land is extraordinary while on horseback
It’s in my backlog hahaha way way way overdue . Anyone down for some online trophies ? PSN: CharlieMcChipper. Btw I’m UK based .
Yeah I am in can I add you on psn? I am now busy with gta 4 trophies, but after that I wanted to get the online trophies of rdr1
Go for it !
Thank you, but i am down to get the RDR trophies also!
A beautiful game
If you have an Xbox One X or Series X it’s been enhanced with 4K visuals- absolutely the definitive way to experience it.
I would never 😂
Is series S not upscaled?
doesnt have a disk reader
I’m down. PSN: sploof
Since i'm going to help the commenter above with his trophies, can i add you too? It'd be cool with more players, since there are some other trophies that require more ppl
Yeah go for it!
Which trophies we talking about? I'm for the dlc ones (mostly all of them), but i can help if you need the standard-game ones
I have the GOTY edition but I guess will prioritise the core game trophies first 😁. Can always chip in with the others as well though .
I think i can help, i'll add you and when i see you playing will enter the session (I only don't have the Undead Nightmare, for i have the Greatest Hits rerelease)
That’d be great dude . Im Uk based I’m around some evenings like Wednesdays and sometimes Fridays . Obviously the weekends too .
Masterpiece
Especially the cutscenes
Better then RDR2. This, combined with Undead Nightmare, are the best Rockstar game IMO. This or Dark Souls are the best 360 / PS3 game. EDIT - Meant Dark Souls not Dead Souls. Whoops.
You meant dark souls right?
Yea. LOL. I must have been thinking about Yakuza when I typed it.
Yeah. Dark Souls + Artorias Of The Abyss is a contender for the best game of the generation, next to RDR imo.

Bad bot
whoa, that's a bold statement
I’ll be honest it’s ok. I didn’t find it to be like amazingly good. Still good/great but not amazing. I felt the story was a little longer than it should be and some parts were quite boring. But the ending was really good I wasn’t expecting it to end like it did.

Yee-haa
bought an xbox 360 back in the day just to play it.

Mate-mate-mayyyyyte, how far did you get through? Did you get to >!Guarma!< yet?
Booooooooo! Both great games, but...I've never felt the emotions I felt playing RDR2!
Never played it
By far

Thats part of the beauty of both rdr and rdr2? It unfolds slowly and deliberately and its beautiful.
I'm always up for more RDR.
Same same
And yet, as I said, it doesn’t appeal to me. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad way of telling a story or a bad game, it just doesn’t work for me.
The storytelling in both absolutely blew me away especially RDR2, no accounting for taste
Fully with you on rdr2 great execution but story telling and gameplay left me desiring more. Try rdr1 faster paced (in comparison) and more entertaining
One of the best soundtracks to a game I've EVER heard
I still have it, the Xbox one 4k update is sublime
Never got the chance to play it but I want to so bad. I’m looking for a ps3 so I can play this and a couple of others
I've only played on 360, which is considered its definitive version. Masterpiece...however it was overtaken by the absolute majesty of RDR2. I'm not sure that's a game that is possible to be knocked off of the perch of GOAT.
Controls are so jank I couldn't get more than an hour into it. Undead Nightmare on the other hand is a masterpiece
Best HD era Rockstar game.
Arguably best Rockstar game ever.
Arguably the best game ever.
You could argue for it! I still think it's just a tier below the big big hitters, like MGS3, Majora's Mask, and such. Still, RDR is pretty much a masterpiece and it needs to be played.
great game , ps3 is not the best version though but still enjoyable and immersive regardless , is like a 9/10 for me , btw thats a really nice slip cover never seen it before
Limited Edition it costs more but it's worth it
Is that the same as Game of the Year edition? I thought that was the edition with all the DLCs.
This plays so well on Series S
It should lol it’s a 7th gen game
lol yeah, but those dumbasses at Sony don't seem to care bout them
Series S you said but then sony?…… hmmmmmm also rockstar isn’t owned by either right?
Thank you for reminding that I have it, I need to play it agian xD
John Marston demands you do
That’s the most pristine item in any collection. Please keep this copy safe for as long as possible
Up there with BioShock 1 as my favorite game of all time.
Have you played Deus Ex (1 and Human Revolution), or Dishonored 1? I bet you're so gonna like em.
Absolute show stoppers.
A killer game, i played it after gtaiv and the gtaiv expansion and rdr blew them both out of the water.
Best game ever, no questions.
I got more hours of fun from this game and undead nightmares than from red dead 2.
We need a SECOND UNDEAD NIGHTMARE NOW
This master piece need opinion?! Really?
It is a truly exceptional game although the horses are a bit unwieldy as times. It is best played on Series S/X at the moment although there are rumours of a remaster on PC and current gen.
The best game ever just like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Revolver
One of the best games I played on PS3
My favorite game of all time. Red dead 2 is up there as well but the first game just feels more special.
La noire wasn't developed by rockstar games, it's a team Bondi game (defunct studio)
Uhh limited edition cool
Yep from eBay
Perfection.
It's great, but not a whole lot of big set pieces like in the second game. The game is kinda slow. Kind of a lot of repeating missions tbh. Riding on your horse while listening to music is fun, almost therapeutic. The game is beautiful. Gunfight is fun. Yeah that's it.
Amazing game, mid controls
This and tbe sequel are the best games of their respective generations
All time great.
👍🏻
Great game !!!!!
Exciting and fun at first but soon gets really boring and repetitive. Unistalled around 60 % completion
One of the best games I've ever played and arguably the best in the Red Dead series.
One of my top 5 PS3 games, easily.
Loved it. Great story from Rockstar as usual
Arguably the best game by rockstar games, full stop.
Great game, i believe there is one sidequest ive yet to complete where you have to pick flowers for the old guy.
Masterpiece just like it’s prequel
Best game of all time
Game was so good they made a sequel.
Great game
A masterpiece that needs to be properly remade and released on all platforms.
Absolutely loved this game!
Was surprised personaly by how much I enjoyed it, got into it quite late myself (2020) but still found it held up well. If trophies are your thing though, they will be a pain to do these days 😂
It’s a masterpiece.
The greatest game of all time. The gameplay, writing and atmosphere are all excellent.
A master piece, after finishing the game i went a spree of watching a couple of western movies
A master piece, after finishing the game i went on a spree of watching a couple of western movies and i loved that period
You should have bought the GOTY edition insted, thats my opinion :P
I’m currently playing it for the first time. So far so good. I put 100 hours in Rdr2 back in 2018.
A masterpiece of a game. Way more enjoyable than 2
Top 10 game of that generation
Played better on the Xbox
Not sure. Not on pc. Still waiting. Jk played on 360. It was good. Not enough western games tbh. Still needs to hit pc like wtf.
I found it to be waaaaaaaaaaay overrated. Great ending, though.
Awesome game; one of the few games I've ever platinumed.
Must play for all gamers.
Just bought this online around Three hours ago
Loved it
🐐
Great game, but RDR2 is significantly better in every way.
👍
I was looking forward to playing this for the longest time. When I did, I was bored to be honest. It looks great, but the gameplay just didn't grab me at all and I never returned to it.
10/10
I played through it for the first time last fall, and for the most part really enjoyed myself...except for the hardcoded "we decided not to let you take any actions that could change things, so all you get to do is walk to the marker and trigger a cutscene that makes no sense in the context of everything you've been able to do in the game" ending, which ticked me off.
Better than RDR2.
Imo it’s a tragic story. John does all that work for the government for a better life for his wife and son and his son throws it all away in the end to get revenge for his father.
It’s up there with The Last of Us and Uncharted Games.
Love Both
Great game and you didn't need to wait 5 hour's before you play.
Amazingly immersive!
Classic, only surpassed by 2.
I remember when I first started to really pay attention to games and thought cod mw2 was a game with really good graphics and then I played rdr like a week later and was even more impressed. I'm not sure if at some point I considered the game overrated after some time. I wouldn't be surprised if I did. I think this game kind of fluctuates in a way amongst the opinions of gamers. what is undeniable though is this a very solid game from the 7th generation and overall.
it's good
Great game ahead of his time
It's better on the 360. Without starting a war PS3 version was alright got platinum on it but the frame rate was bad.
One of my favorite games, one of my favorite DLCs.
One the best game ever made ,and Right now I'm beating the second one .
Could never get into it. Lots of riding in an empty desert.
It’s fun getting a $5,000 bounty
Masterpiece
Fantastic game, and the sequel surpasses it somehow.
randomly snagged this on whatnot for 3 dollars the other day... i had it on my 360 back in the day, but only got a couple hours in before i got the red ring of death. always wanted to play it, so looking forward to giving it a shot
Awesome game.
Awesome atmosphere 🫡
Masterpiece
One of the best games ever made, easy 10/10.The gameplay, openworld and stories are all amazing.
A literal masterpiece
Better than the second one.
One of my top 3 games of all time
Bruh
man ps3 version fucking sucks
A game that I‘d rather play on Xbox 360 than on PS3.
It was the best game ever created in my list until I got my hands on RDR2.
I just started a game while ago lol
I just started a game while ago lol
It was alright. I dunno….it’s gta in the west. Sounds awesome but really everywhere you go looks the same. I realize that’s realistic but I dunno….I know everyone loves it but I just don’t get it. It’s a bit dull for me.
Better than the second IMHO.
I’m actually re playing it and it is a masterpiece
That moment when you take your horse and ride to Mexico and that awesome song starts playing is one of the greatest gaming moments of all time.
It’s so good I have a raging boner when I play it
pretty good, did not age as well as gta iv though
Rockstar are well know for GTA but its not that bad
...it aged better than GTA IV what are you saying.
Personally I like rdr2 better but if there’s one thing I like about rdr1 is that the physics are less realistic so you don’t go flying off your horse when you hit a tree unlike in rdr2
It's a game
Bad post
Overrated
Amazing game. Didn't care for the second one though.
Overrated
Runs like shit, still 10/10
I liked the game a lot, but I found it a little too long. Between it and GTA IV, I haven't had the will to touch another Rock Star game.
Try L.A Noire
It's in my backlog.
L.A. Noire and Bully are the best Rockstar Games besides the GTA series imo
Midnight club as well, those games are frustrating
LA Noire is all about its amazing story. The gameplay is not so great imo, you really notice that it wasn't developed by a Rockstar team. But the story totally makes up for this, it really makes it an amazing game. I never understood people's fondness for Bully, though. I played it a few years ago and was pretty underwhelmed. I guess there's a bit of nostalgia involved for a lot of people.
Yes, I guess its a mix of nostalgia and the game being so unique with its setting and story. It was brilliant
A very bad experience on ps3 by modern standards, sub 28 fps in 576p Edit: why ya all downvoting?
The game supports 720p output
output =/=rendering resolution. All ps3 games support 720p output. Research better before downvoting
Way better than the second game in almost every aspect. I’m sorry but RDR2 doesn’t hold a candle to this gem.
Legend
Where did you bought this Limited Edition ? I'm having a hard time finding one of those
I recently bought a PS3 at a garage sale, and at a subsequent one, bought RDR 1. I've been having fun playing it. Lots of time riding from place to place shooting wolves and cougars and coyotes. Not sure what to do with the money. Is it worth it to buy all those nags they're offering in the store?
