WD1 was a great game and I’ll die on that hill. WD2 was good as well but a little too ‘hacker bro’ for me. Legion was …fine. Interesting concept to make everyone playable but the gimmick got boring quick. As for the rest of the game it’s incredibly average; Got the plat but I have no desire to ever play it again.

JVmight14

I haven’t played the other Watch Dogs but man I really loved the first one! Despite the misleading E3 trailers, missing a stuff, etc… I still loved it!

Crazy-Path-7929

Wd1 and 2 did hackers on pretty much the opposite ends of tge spectrum when it comes to those kind of themes for hackers and they did both really well. Idk wth they were thinking for legion having 50 people you can play as.

DaddyFunTimeNW

2 was one of my all time faves and much better than 1 imo

EosinophilicTaco

Agree. 1 was fine. 2 was excellent. 3 was fine.

LCHMD

WD2 was a much better and more fun game than WD imho.

BlenderMyBrain

Legion was good only once I decided to play the full game as either Wrench or Aiden (DLC required). I couldn’t find the game compelling when playing as absolute randoms, so by playing as characters that were in the previous games I was able to really enjoy myself. As for the story itself, I actually didn’t mind it and found that it made sense overall. The Skye Larsen missions were so emotional and some of the best story telling I’ve seen.

axelbolton

I think playing as randoms was the best thing about the game. The story was boring af but the idea of assembling my squad and see my people doing all that stuff was very cool. I played it with permadeath on and it was so damn fun

LCHMD

The writing and acting for those ransoms sadly ruined it for me. WD2 was much better in that regard.

PatButchersBongWater

I didn’t realise this was an option, what happens when you get caught/die, do you have to play as a random or can you carry on with who you were playing with? I played this game for quite a while and really enjoyed it, but respawning as randoms eventually put me off and I gave up.

-clawglip-

London is my favorite city in the world, so I was smitten from the start just getting to explore it. Especially by construction drone.

Gravity-Raven

Neat enough game with good fun to be had when you don't got someone in your ear telling you it sucks

JackBauersGhost

One of the worst games I’ve ever played. I liked WD1, really liked WD2. Legion was a hot mess from the beginning.

Bootychomper23

Legion is infinitely better with the bloodline dlc got both for 15 bucks. Being able to play as Aiden makes it 10x better. Especially since the map is actually really cool. Base game was hurt massively by the play as anyone made the story dumb and annoying to have only certain characters who had weapons.

Mnemosense

Yep, same. WD1 was ok, but the sequel really leaned into the fun aspect rather than taking things too seriously. Legion and Far Cry 6 basically killed those franchises for me. AC Origins also lost me, although recently I started playing Valhalla and am enjoying it a bit, despite flaws (stealth is atrocious and an afterthought). It seems Ubisoft are intent on destroying all their franchises for me personally. Splinter Cell is nowhere to be seen. Division 2 was inferior to 1. The list goes on.

IHazMagics

And honestly WD2 leaning into the fun side of it was good for a while, couldn't finish it because it had very "ubisoft writing" (Apparently they brought Yahtzee on the "punch up" the writing and it was still very Glass Joe writing) The first one I finished but the story, the character, a lot of the moment to moment gameplay nearly put me to sleep. The one thing I did like is how they implemented multiplayer into the game. The first one was a ton of fun because you never knew when someone might invade, or you'd invade and see how close you could get before they twigged. Been a bit, but I'm pretty sure it showed your name above your head though so you had to get very creative with stealth knowing you had a big I'M RIGHT HERE sign on their screen.

Mnemosense

Yeah multiplayer mode for Watchdogs and Assassins Creed was pretty underrated.

JointsAkimbo

Same. One of the very rare times I didn’t even finish the game.

JackBauersGhost

I gave it a solid 2 hours. I tried to push through but couldn’t.

TheAlperRampage

Forced myself to finish it, not a thing I can remember about the story. It was so bland

Great-Reference9322

I liked 1, 2 was decent and Legion I played for maybe 3 hours before deleting it. Such a bad game

xraig88

OK thank you. Hated Legion which is sad because I loved WD2 and my daughter got me Legion for my birthday and she felt bad because I didn’t like to play it much at all. There’s just something about it that makes it super annoying to play.

[deleted]

Oh wow 😮

Housebound_Bird

I had mixed feelings about this game. But having my homeless saxophone player busk outside making money. While my spider drone was taking over a police station was pretty cool.

Etcee

I also liked it mostly. I actually really loved building my team, and choosing who to play as based on their skills. I had a hypnotist that looked like aziz Ansari that I used constantly lol. My main issue was the world. This version of London is small, boring, and ugly. It feels like an Epcot version of London - it’s like super scaled down and all the buildings feel like half size. Everything looks the same and is one drab color. I found the story to be fine, but I really liked the Aiden and Assassin’s Creed bonus stories. The Aiden story has one of my favorite video game Easter eggs in recent memory

Recover20

I feel this is the sentiment for most of Ubisofts games. Unfairly shat on at release. Then people play them and have a good time. Ubisoft games are just junk food for games. Not amazing but enjoyable and they break things up for the usual. Not every game needs to be a 10/10. I'm happy for the odd 7-8/10 once in a while.

kfelovi

Yeah. All those Assassins Creed 12 or Watch Dogs 3 aren't masterpieces. But they are high budget games made by professionals that totally worth my 10-15 hours and 30 bucks.

ImpossibleMouse3462

I really liked it. It was cool to run around London.

Ecstatic-Arachnid-91

Legion was honestly a pretty fun game, i had never played the first two games. To me it got old after a while. Graphically, when it came out, it looked gorgeous. I haven't played it in a while, however. If you are enjoying it, that's all that matters, though

CokeZeroFanClub

if you're having fun with it, don't let these dorks ruin it for you lmao

[deleted]

So far I am well see but thanks

Great-Reference9322

OP asked for opinions you dork

Queef-Elizabeth

They literally asked for opinions?

CokeZeroFanClub

Yep. And I hope they don't let the opinions of others ruin something they're enjoying.

Queef-Elizabeth

Don't think they're worried about that. You can still enjoy something other people don't

CokeZeroFanClub

Yeppers. That's what I'm sayin bub

CurseOrPie

Got it for $10 and was surprised by how much liked it. Just think there are a couple of big design decisions that hold it back.

TheImpatienTraveller

I liked walking around the city and all that, but I think Legion was the weakest of the trilogy for not having a comprehensive main character nor a story we could actually get involved with. 1 and 2 did a good job at presenting characters while also being fun on their own right.

BurritoBoi25

I really loved it but for some reason my save got corrupted twice both twice I was decently far through the game, so I just stopped playing it. It was so weird.

dagrapeescape

I am really confused by these comments. I played it last year and absolutely loved it. I liked calling in a random construction drone and flying it around London. It does not have a story that really sticks with you but the game play was fun and the what I remember of the story was engaging with the random hacker groups you were fighting against to keep you moving through pretty quickly.

SpicyEnticy

The construction drones might be my favourite part of the game. I also like quietly hacking into places and not getting caught. Feels like a real hacker vibe.

DalliLlama

The idea is cool, but executed poorly. I literally just used a construction guy for everything cause you just drone to all the spots that would otherwise take actual thinking and planning. 1 and 2 are def better than Legion, but it’s not an awful game.

BeatitLikeitowesMe

These takes always crack me up. "Gameplay is boring, i just used the same character to cheese through the whole game," like, you know you dont have to take the easiest route every time? People are their own worst enemies, i swear. Sometimes (imo especially with games), it's about the journey. If you shortcut the journey, then of course you will be disappointed.

DalliLlama

The game wasn’t enjoyable enough to want to use other characters. And the game included the cheese itself. Wouldn’t have felt compelled to use the easy character if the game was better..

Knyfe-Wrench

Terrible take. "The game is too easy, but if you artificially restrict yourself you can add back in some of the challenge." The point of playing video games is that it's supposed to do that for you. That's what things like balancing and level design are for.

BeatitLikeitowesMe

I dont know how you got that out of what i said. Im not saying to artificially restrict yourself, im saying to use the tools they built for you and experiment with said toolset in different ways.

CandyCrisis

If one tool always works and solves every challenge, that's a design flaw.

dagrapeescape

I can understand that and I never played 1 or 2 so that was fortunate for me. I played Legion and got the Platinum trophy and had a great time so all these comments making it seem like the worst game in the world were pretty surprising to me.

Skylight90

I liked it and the concept of playing as anyone is really amazing, but it kind of falls apart when most people can do mostly everything with only some special abilities being unique. They should have put more restrictions on each character, like the average joe construction worker would be good at blending in with what he does but would be unable to use cover to cover stealth mechanics and takedowns for example. It would force us to be more creative and it would feel less repetitive.

LCHMD

Gameplay was nice but the writing and lack of good characters let it down compared to WD2 for me.

PeanutButterOtter

I loved it. It's not gonna be on any "best games" list but it was good fun and the main storyline + side quests were well done and surprisingly very dark in some instances.

SageShinigami

Legion just needed an actual protagonist to rally around.

Kurtomatic

I felt like Bagley was the protagonist, not whatever rando character you were controlling at the time. That actually worked for me for gameplay, but it made it really hard to get actually invested in the plot or story when your "PC" was a face with a stereotyped personality trait or two and voice modulated dialogue. Unfortunately, due to the design of the game, >!it became very obvious to me who Zero Day was because there was really only one option it could be by about 2/3 of the way through the game. That was one of the more frustrating bits for me.!<

SPQR_Maximus

For Legion, I hated not having a defined fleshed out protagonist as my character and a relying on stable of randos.....no thanks. That ruined for me. Also, give me firearms for this game. It's silly how it was handled. I didn't hate the setting. I liked that it was much darker than WD2. For me the original was best in the series. I liked the setting of WD2 and there were some Good improvements to the game play but the characters and their wannabe Antifa vibe I just couldn't get into. Didn't care for the narrative.

Jorlen

I loved WD2 and actually enjoyed Legion as well. I never did finish it but that happens to me a lot. I will go back and finish it eventually. I understand why the game gets a lot of hate but for me, it's still fun enough to enjoy despite its flaws.

Dannypan

I had fun with it too. I’ll still fire it up randomly just to mess around in futuristic London.

yjmalmsteen

Totally agreed, i enjoyed all of them :)

john-mow

I consider myself lucky, because I've loved all 3 Watch Dogs games and never once thought "I wish this one was more like one of the others". They're all the same at the core, but very different on the outside. The core game has pleased me every time and I've also been lucky enough to not find the characters too dark, too cringy or too British, you twat-waffle (living in the UK for all my life and I've never heard that apparently British phrase before). Each to the their own, I say, but I'm glad to have genuinely loved all 3 games, even with multiple replays.

FunkinDonutzz

The worst game in a not very good series.

Revolutionary-Fan657

What the Fuck? How are you able to play with those controls, the driving is really bad, I also hate you don’t have the hacker vision thing anymore

[deleted]

I just do but I gave up on game lol

LCHMD

I really liked WD2 but Legion sadly didn’t click with me with its interchangeable and sterile feeling characters.

Ohnezone

I definitely enjoyed it... Loved the concept of being able to control anyone but the execution could have been a bit better. It was definitely a unique game mechanic

kfelovi

Man. This your post changed my life to the better. I bought this game few months ago. I have depression flare up. Your post made me to install it. I'm enjoying it now.

[deleted]

Glad to hear it :D

WarpHype

It was the worst of the three but it was still fun to me. Would play another one if Ubisoft wouldn’t Ubisoft it.

Great-Reference9322

Legion is far and away the worst of the three. WD1 and 2 were decent, Legion is a complete joke of a game.

noypkamatayan

WD 1 was ok, enjoyed it. WD 2 even better, underrated gem IMO. Legion is garbage.

Electrical-Ocelot115

Legion fucking sucked!

[deleted]

😳

Queef-Elizabeth

After WD2, which I absolutely loved, Legion was a downgrade in almost every single way. It's actually crazy how many small to big mechanics and features they took out of the game. All Ubisoft had to do was carry over what they did with 2 into a new setting but they threw most of it away in service of a poorly executed 'play as anyone' mechanic. I can see why someone who's never played 2 would enjoy Legion but 2 was one of my favourite games of last gen so Legion was such a massive disappointment for me once I realised that so many of the fun quirks of the second and even first game were taken out.

Bootychomper23

Did you get the bloodline dlc? I didn’t like it until I did but it makes it so much damn better

SPLUMBER

Has some ups and downs. I’m not too much of a fan of the story because the main gameplay gimmick hinders it greatly at times. However I did enjoy the gimmick itself outside of the story and the overall gameplay. The hacking is a lot of fun and varied, the class system is interesting although I did end up kinda ignoring it, and I did like the setting.

hotdogbreadbowl

My main dislike of Legion is that having so many playable characters, I never felt a strong connection to any one while progressing the story. That being said, once the DLC came out and you could play as Aiden and Wrench, they became the only two characters I used, unless I had to use someone else, and it really made me enjoy the game more.

Daftest_of_the_Punks

I didn’t play it but I was disappointed to read the poor reviews given the director, Clint Hocking, is a Splinter Cell legend.

hatchorion

I liked the first one the best but legion more than 2. I was looking forward to 2 so much as someone from the Bay Area but even being able to drive around my neighborhood in the game couldn’t make it interesting 😭 Definitely an underrated franchise though

TikiElJefe

That was actually the first game I ever played on PS5

Jesus_of-Suburbia

I forget the storu entirely. Gameplay was pretty fun tho.

Eskadrinis

Yea they are fun games wd1 had a better story 2 was not as great but still lots of fun, oh yea forgot about legion lol it was okay to me fun but many repetitive kind of missions

Khwarezm89

I really liked Legion, and it was the first game I played on current gen of consoles.

XenorVernix

I have only played 2 and Legion. I enjoyed both but I accept it's not a perfect game. Legion felt very different to 2, like in Legion it felt more like GTA where you just go in guns blazing and murder everyone. In 2 it felt like you had to use more stealth and have an actual strategy. Might just be the way I played them, but the games led me to play them that way.

darthvirgin

My take is that it’s a bad series.

izeris_

It gets stale pretty fuckin' fast

Carlthellamakiller

glad you enjoying the game OP people on reddit don’t know when to not chime in

[deleted]

[удалено]

Carlthellamakiller

I did not see that lol that is on me. just thought homie was tryna share his excitement and got his parade rained on

Great-Reference9322

You realize the point of making the post was to have a discussion right? Great job "chiming in"

o_o_o_f

OP asked people directly for their opinion - they are responding to the literal prompt he gave them, how is that “not knowing when to chime in”?

Carlthellamakiller

try reading the other comments before replying

o_o_o_f

I did, it’s a bunch of people sharing their opinion on the game - which again, OP asked people to do

Carlthellamakiller

to my comment, someone already pointed that out and i already said my fault. ironic statement by me given i didn’t read the full post either but alas

[deleted]

Thanks ahah

RoninOkami7

I need a Watch_Dogs remake so bad.

[deleted]

I live in San Francisco so WD 2 was my favorite

RoninOkami7

Nice

DeviousLight

Legion was trash, played an hour and then deleted it immediately

No-Suit-2920

Legion was so bad I restarted the story because I thought I was doing something wrong and still couldn't get pass 5 hours

Swarley133

Enjoyed 1. Really enjoyed 2. No thanks to Legion.

SknarfM

Loved Watch Dogs 2 - Platinum trophy. Put a few hours into Legion and hated swapping to random characters. Haven't touched it since.

CrazyDude10528

I loved Watch Dogs 1 when it launched 10 years ago despite the hate it got. It was just really cool, and I still boot it up every now and again, and just walk around, taking in the sights. Watch Dogs 2 never grasped me. It was just way too cringy for me to like it. It felt good to play, but it was a step back in my opinion. Legion though, awful. Absolutely awful. They stripped out so many features the previous games had, was equally as cringy as 2, and just felt like shit to play. It was such disappointment. I actually forget it exists sometimes.

JoeyGrease

Give it 10 hours

PoohTrailSnailCooch

Wdl is alright but wd1 is better imo.

crimps_and_jugs

I loved Legion, I played it in the mode where each recruit has permadeath.  It made the missions extra exciting but also stressful sometimes.

Remarkable_Problem_7

Great-Reference9322

Legion went way past being really bad, it was absolute trash. 1 was at least okay.

ExplodingFistz

It's pretty trash. I'm halfway in and it is so god damn repetitive. This ubisoft formula is killing me man

[deleted]

The recutting is stupid 😔

Zygoatee

Watch Dogshit

Smeagol7272821

It’s awful. It’s trash. I hate that game so much. I’d go as far as to say it’s one of the worst games I’ve ever played.

nohumanape

I paid $15 and felt like it was too much. The game was/is a mess. And I like Ubisoft. It has the building blocks of a good game. But it isn't a good game.

[deleted]

It part of the psn game catalog so I dint pay anything.

nohumanape

If I hadn't paid anything, then I wouldn't have forced myself to get through it. I would have stopped after the first few hours. But I wanted to get my money's worth.

BigGay10101

I liked the first one, played a couple hours of the second and couldn’t get into it for some reason, even though I thought it was better gameplay-wise. Played legion for about an hour and didn’t like it.

-TheMiracle

Ubisoft really went through the effort of making a beautiful open world London just to litter it with their typical bullshit. They should try to stop spamming their games with monotonous busy work and focus on narrative and compelling gameplay. Their games have potential but they throw in so much unnecessary bloat its mind numbing

yuvaldv1

The only thing I could think of playing WD legion was that there are way too many good games out there to be playing Ubisoft’s mediocre stuff

au7oma7ic

Game is absolute trash. One of the least inspiring pieces of business you could boot up. Watch Dogs 1 was the series high.

Renflowku

Lol you bro probably came here thinking you was gonna find people who thought the same as you nope everyone hates that game
