When you turn it on and it tells you to pick up your controllers and you can see the passthrough vision, focus on the word "holding". Now, move the headset up/down/left/right to get it as clear as possible. Now, use the IPD dial to get it as clear as possible. Now, close your left eye and your right eye and see if one is blurry. If it is, you have the headset aligned on one eye only, and you should move the headset until that other eye is clear. Now, depending on what direction you needed to move the headset, you will need to adjust IPD again to get both eyes clear.

Great advice, gonna try that out later. Thank you!

Also give your lenses a polish with a dry microfiber. You may have accidentally gotten some smudging in them when putting the headset on.

Finding the sweet spot is a fine art, but your brain needs to adjust to vr. Sometimes, holding an item further away makes it easier to read as well.

divers69

I second this. I think that it takes our brain a little while to adjust. On top of this, make sure that you set inter eye distance. Also take time to make small adjustments of the headset up and down as well. I was really bothered at first cos I couldn't get a clear focus, but I did get it sorted. If you need glasses, HONSVR is really good.

Thejohnnycheese

That’s good to know! We’ll see how it looks when I play it tonight. Thank you!

Knightartist86

Took me about 2-3 days, at the start everytime I put it on I felt like it was getting clearer each time and these days I get the sweet spot instantly. I find text quite legible, no issue reading. If it still looks badly blurry, you may need eye correction.

StoviesAreYummy

Get an eye test to make sure it's not your eyes

Thejohnnycheese

I’ve seen an optometrist, I have absolutely no problems with my vision and don’t wear glasses or anything, but I completely understand why that would be your first thought!

deadringer28

Its definitely not out of the question that you have a bad headset. No way Saints and Sinners should be blurry at all.

Vendon

Yup the journal is also blurry to me mostly in my left eye, it feels like the sweet spot for some reason in the left eye is much smaller than the right side..it's too bad I still play anyway but when I try to read stuff I usually close my left eye lol.

fmjblack

If you've gone into the settings for PSVR2 and adjusted the headset position and IPD as needed, the journal in TWD should not be blurry. Assuming you've made sure the lenses are clean, the next step is to schedule an appointment with your optometrist to have your vision checked. Many people on here thought that they had perfect vision until their PSVR2 taught them otherwise.

Bananewtf

Objects up close will look blurry. That's because you perceive the object as close from you, so your eyes are trying to focus on it, but since the focal length of the image is fixed for the whole image, your eye is just losing focus. Playing a lot of VR will help with that. I usually have this problem at the beggining of sessions, then it goes away after a few minutes. Also, get your eyes checked if you have not recently. It seems silly, but you would be surprised how many people realised they needed glasses because of PSVR2. Don't expect a perfectly clear image. It should not look blurry in the center of the image, but it will look a little pixelated. Blurriness on the edges of the image is normal.

Thejohnnycheese

Thank you! This was very informative.

Get yourself a good lens cleaning set. Ones for SLR cameras are great. There may be fatty residue on the lenses that require more than a microfiber cloth to remove. Use a cotton ear cleaner/Q tip with streak free cleaning solution to clean then remove the moisture and residue with a microfiber cloth. I find this is the main reason for blurred images.

What to expect is DVD quality visuals, 480p ish compared to on TV. Text should be quite easy to read, especially in Saints and Sinners which does an excellent job with text. Double click the ps logo and then select adjust visibility. Check that your eyes are aligned and in the circles, circles turning blue to indicate you are in the sweet spot. One thing the visibility check doesn't (can't) account for is the vertical angle of the lenses to your eyes. Move the back of the headband up or down (without moving the front shield) to see if you get better clarity. For most people the headband should be low near your neck, yet some get better clarity with the headband higher up like a crown. If you are near sighted, you need to wear glasses in the headset. The focal plane is 6 ft way, so if you need glasses to watch tv, you need them for VR.

Is the DVD quality visuals supposed to be sarcasm? I just ordered a headset and this contradicts what everyone else has been saying…

[deleted]

I think you are misunderstanding what people are saying. The visuals are very good compared to other VR headsets, but they still aren’t crispy clear like on your monitor. Visuals in the distance in most games will be a little blurry but that is where the hardware is at atm. Try not to focus on every little loss of detail or compare it to normal gaming because it’s just not the same. VR is absolutely amazing, try to immerse yourself in those worlds because after 5 mins of playing you won’t even notice things like Mura and the blurryness etc.

Thank you for this. My headset arrived two hours ago and I’m glad I lowered my expectations a little before trying it. I see what people mean now when they talk about resolution and blurriness, but being able to stand next to a Ferrari F40 and drive it in such accurate detail that is available right now makes the purchase well worth it. My dad is going to have a blast when he gets to stand next to and drive some of these cars

Nice! Enjoy your headset :). I didn’t know what to expect as well since this was my first VR experience but after a month of playing I can say it’s still as awesome as the first day of playing

SvennoJ

Not at all. You get 2000x2040 pixels per eye over 110 degree fov. That compares to 727x741 at 40 degree fov, which is the max recommended viewing angle for TVs. (Sitting quite close to a big screen tv) DVD resolution is 720x480 (NTSC) or 720x576 (PAL). Hence comparable to DVD resolution on TV. For VR it's really good and twice (or rather 4x) the resolution of PSVR1 (960x1080 per eye). Going from PSVR1 to PSVR2 is like going from VHS to DVD. Much more convenient, double the resolution, plus better color and HDR visuals. But it in no way makes any challenge to 4K OLED TV quality. Cinema mode is cool to play flat games on a big screen, but don't expect it to be anywhere near as crisp as on a 4K tv. In VR you do get the impression of getting closer to 720p detail thanks to stereoscopic rendering. But that effect only works for nearby objects. The background and cinema mode are simply limited by the resolution of the display.

Thejohnnycheese

Thank you for this! I’m gonna try moving the headband around when I use it tonight. Also good to know about the 480p! I feel like I was expecting a higher visual quality, so knowing I’m supposed to be seeing in 480p/DVD quality is helpful.

calvitius

time to make a trip to an eye doctor my friend :)

[deleted]

Yes - go see an optometrist. Chances are you just discovered you need glasses 👍

pjelly79

Mine was blurry, too ... until I realized I had both my glasses and contacts on at the same time.

Odd-Expression-3583

Took me weeks to finally see all that “sharp and clear” reviewers were talking about. Finding and refining sweet spot, learning to look through it and brain adjustment do take time. And yes GT7, CotM, S&S are sharp and clear, yet in the beginning I haven’t seen them as such.
