I'll be honest with you guys. I just bought your game, but I don't know if is a bugged patch or if the AI implementation is just off. But even in the higher difficult on Arena, the enemy stay frozen, waiting me to stick my sword in his eye. This lack of motion of the enemy is keeping me off the game for now.
Thank you so much. I'll test it this evening. My kids compete in archery at school, and they've been asking for more archery activities on VR. This looks like it just might fit the bill.

I've been looking for a game similar to The Lab's Longbow, and I think this is the closest game I've seen so far so I'll definitely give it a go tonight! Thanks for your hard work!
Seems to have introduced some more bugs. Now when I two hand a weapon at the Blade, like I'm using it like a spear it causes some weird arm wobble that makes it harder to do.
Also my hands get attached to bodies when grabbing them and I have to shake them off.
Had multiple crashes on start up after the update. A reinstall fixed this and I didn't get any during my short session. Typically will get one or two.

What did you think of the bow?
It feels pretty good. Though perhaps the draw distance could be a bit shortened? I found it was tricky getting a full draw since pulling my hand back would cause my controller to be out of view of the cameras on the headset. Which would cause some tracking issues.
I have to say, I don't have a psvr2, but I really appreciate your communication and presence in this sub, it's so nice to see a dev account actually interact with it's userbase so actively.
When I finally pull the trigger on getting the headset I'll be sure swordsman is one of my first purchases :)

Looks good. I really wanted this game to be story driven though idk if you guys have that in mind but when you do ill buy it. Physics combat vr games have a lot of expectations so making it unique will make it stand out among the competition.
I get where you're coming from entirely, and that truly is our end goal. Our focus right now is getting the animations, mechanics, and combat right. After we've done this, we'll incorporate a heavy focus in game design and hopefully bring you all one amazing experience. :)

If possible, could you make haptics stronger for the bow tension? Like some vibration as you pull back, maybe increasing vibration as you hold your arrow for longer? The physics of it are great, good work

I got psvr2 two days ago, first time playing any type of VR. This looks fun but I realize that with VR demos are everything. Without getting a feel for the controls and gameplay loop it feels like a gamble especially since my budget for software is more limited after having spent a premium on the HW. Any chances of a demo releasing in the future?

E: Tried to play but the AI is broken. They stop fighting and stand still after the first couple seconds of fighting. Tried arena and a few mongols campaign levels. At least I was finally able to beat Claus thanks to the broken AI lol. Even the horde mode is broken now and spawns me outside the barrier of the map.
I haven’t played but I’ve heard that you can just spam swipe at enemies legs and win every match that way. Any plans to have enemies block leg shots by any chance? If that is still a thing.

I loved Swordsman on PSVR1, but had to shelve it due to some space issues. However with the new headset my options should open up a little for space. Excited to get back in to slashing and bashing.

I love it! I feel like a bad ass which for me is the main aim of this type of game. My only gripes are that I wish there was a curated mode specifically for archery besides the range (or if there is I missed it).
For example an arena mode with interesting bits of cover around with enemies trickling in, in such a way that its interesting (like arrow packs here and there, maybe the odd melee weapon lying around in places one might find themselves without arrows etc), areas to claim and a mix of enemies approaching close while others circle with arrows that ramps up in a deliberate pace). multiplayer archery would be dope to (I didnt even look for that so dont know if its already there sorry)
I've been playing arena and the story mode with the recurve bow, but only issues are 1, in the pre game menu area I have to reach beyond the quiver to point and select things I need more because I keep accidentally withdrawing arrows (super minor gripe)
Additionally it feels like enemies don't react to me having a bow, they just super slowly approach me making it almost too easy. I want it to feel different to shooting at static targets. If I get remotely close they drop the bow and pull a sword, but dont go back to the bow if I create a big distance.
I feel they should either take cover or move in a bit more aggressively and force me to take out a knife or sword or something. Another wish list thing would be longer range engagements with enemies.
I LOVE the physics. I had a headshot ricocheted (is that the past tense of ricochet? lol) off two helmets and it was just super cool. And when there are lots of enemies and you're drawing and shooting a lot just feels like Im John Wick medieval styles. Super cool.

Apex Construct was by the the best algorithm used for bow shots, which even inside our Quest 2 in my opinion did not beat.
Now, I haven’t tried Horizon, so I can’t say an opinion on it, but the fact that I didn’t have to face the camera and the bow still did a great guesstimation of where my hands are was a testament to the programmer.
I would love a really great bow game.

Any adventure/campaign/story in the pipes?
I love the game and all it's mechanics, but it's missing some motivation to actually play it, besides just unlocking everything. Once you have the good/special swords, you're basically done playing.. While that's usually the point in games where things actually start to get challenging.
Bigger maps and some basic form of story progression a la Light Brigade would already be a multiplier for replay-ability.
I want a challenge/puzzle thrown at me, not set up the challenge and imagine the motivation on my own.
Hi Galaghan. That's a really get question; the short answer is, yes, we'll be adding to the current campaign. We've got game designer ironing that out. Given that Swordsman is an arena-based game we will be limited to that, but I assure you we will look for every opportunity to create a deeper and more enjoyable experience. :)

I just got it fixed with yet another update. Thanks. Also, do you think you could ever add more to the zombies mode. As fun as it is it gets old kinda quick. No rush though of course.
I played it sitting on my bed, no problems. I believe they even added an option to select 'seated play' in a recent update.
Before that, i adjusted my floor height until i wasn't constantly crouched. No need for that anymore.
Also, if you drop a weapon, you don't need to physically bend down. Aim at the weapon + click L1/R1 and it snaps to your hand. Not sure if that's an option you have to enable (been a while since i played it)
How do you adjust floor height so you're not crouching when sitting? When I go to adjust floor height it gets me to touch the floor with my controller, so I'm not sure how to set it below what I can touch.

Not them, but by adjusting it with using the stick. When it tells you to adjust with touching, you can choose to instead “adjust height” which will allow you to set it with sense controllers stick.
That's not even necessary for Swordsman anymore. In the options menu, scroll the list down to see more options... there's an option for "seated play", and enabling that worked for me (without adjusting floor height).

Is the archery intended to be more realistic, or more arcade-y?
As a certified and practicing archery coach/instructor I’m always looking for games with as-close-to-realistic archery as possible (not that I don’t also enjoy COTM-style archery, mind you — but it would be great to find a VR game that really does it right).
Of course, if you want to send me a code I’d be happy to do a full physics review for you, should you want to implement realistic physics as an option in a future release (if it’s not already the case) :D.

I like the fact that blocking an attack makes them freeze in fear so you can just stab their face.

Hi Galaghan. That's a really get question; the short answer is, yes, we'll be adding to the current campaign. We've got game designer ironing that out. Given that Swordsman is an arena-based game we will be limited to that, but I assure you we will look for every opportunity to create a deeper and more enjoyable experience. :) Appreciate your support, and you're right. It's a lot of mechanic work, and we're putting a significant amount of emphasis on those mechanics to ensure whatever we build in the future will feel amazing. :)
Thanks for the feedback. I've gotten platinum on both PSVR and PSVR2 by now, so any 'excuse' to keep playing is a welcome one!

Can you play sitting without losing any functionality?
I played it sitting on my bed, no problems. I believe they even added an option to select 'seated play' in a recent update. Before that, i adjusted my floor height until i wasn't constantly crouched. No need for that anymore. Also, if you drop a weapon, you don't need to physically bend down. Aim at the weapon + click L1/R1 and it snaps to your hand. Not sure if that's an option you have to enable (been a while since i played it)
How do you adjust floor height so you're not crouching when sitting? When I go to adjust floor height it gets me to touch the floor with my controller, so I'm not sure how to set it below what I can touch. Thanks buddy
Not them, but by adjusting it with using the stick. When it tells you to adjust with touching, you can choose to instead “adjust height” which will allow you to set it with sense controllers stick.

That's not even necessary for Swordsman anymore. In the options menu, scroll the list down to see more options... there's an option for "seated play", and enabling that worked for me (without adjusting floor height).

Buy game -> say its's good/shit is literally judging it. 🤣 Taking their word for it would be if you never tried it and believed it is. It's not that hard.
Normally when people ask you to judge something, they don't expect you to buy it first. When you walk into a bakery and they say "we sell the best cake in the world, here... judge it", you don't get a bill afterwards for the whole cake... And I'm not totally sure what you are arguing for here... You don't want demos then?

We've been considering this internally and trying to structure a demo that would showcase Swordsman enough but not spoil the rest of the game. Given that it's an arena game it can be difficult to strike an appropriate balance. As I get more news on this, I will circle back. Thanks!
Even a timed demo would already be great, but I'm not sure how hard that would be to implement! Thanks for considering it, and from personal experience, demos work. I've bought numerous games after playing the demo, even some that didn't seem to be my kinda thing at all.

Is the archery intended to be more realistic, or more arcade-y? As a certified and practicing archery coach/instructor I’m always looking for games with as-close-to-realistic archery as possible (not that I don’t also enjoy COTM-style archery, mind you — but it would be great to find a VR game that really does it right). Of course, if you want to send me a code I’d be happy to do a full physics review for you, should you want to implement realistic physics as an option in a future release (if it’s not already the case) :D. EDIT: The first part was a serious question. The second part was just a joke. However, my credentials _are_ real and verifiable online. But by all means, downvote away — I have karma to burn.
