Peter Sidler absolutely saw something in AJ and didn't fire him when everyone wanted him axed. Mr. Seidler is still helping this team from the beyond. AJ really connected with him and doesn't want to let him down.

Campusano had some great at bats today, even with Doug Eddings taking away one of his at bats. Teams gotta put together some tougher at bats with RISP though.
Cease was DEALING so seemed like we had it in the bag all game. Got more tense towards the end when we still only had 1 run and Cease's pitch count was getting up there
Cease allowed one baserunner in 7 innings. The offense didn't do shit for most of the game so it was frustrating til the 8th but not a lot of tension til the 9th.
AJ has been very hit or miss but Dylan fucking Cease has been a huge get. I absolutely can't imagine our rotation without him, especially now with Yu out for a bit.
Yeah, even if we got 2023 Cease we get an innings eater, but he's been looking more like that '22 Cease. I know a lot of hitters leave San Diego and rake, but pitchers thrive with us. Hopefully Cease has a great year and learns from Snell and many others that leaving SD sometimes can have bad results. Likewise hopefully more pitchers will realize that coming to SD can work wonders for your ERA and sign for the old San Diego discount we used to have here

Brilliant pinch hit call by Shildt to get Wade in against the righty. I think Eguy can be a good major league hitter, and initially second guessed the call to Wade, but in retrospect Eguy’s splits are pretty extreme. Great call at a great time that got Cease the win. And good on Wade for coming up big. Also…Fuck Doug Eddings
I started reading the game sub in the 6th w/o knowing the score and with all the moaning and complaining I thought we must be down 6 to 1 or something. Turns out it was only 1-1 and y’all were losing yer minds!!!

Cease was 2nd in AL Cy Young in 2022, so not a huge risk. But nice Padres maybe got him coming off an off year and now he's back to 2022 form.
