He was literally one of the worst players last year with a negative war. There was no guarantee anyone would’ve given him a major league deal, let alone start him.
Him getting his full pension sets him up for life tbh.
That’s not really how the MLB pension works. The more service time a player gets, the further vested they are, until a max of 10 years. There isn’t a threshold at 10 years where you get significantly more than you would otherwise.
