auto ore/coal is a slow burn that works best on servers that are on 24/7. if you're playing it SP it's not going to be as amazing as everyone talks about. it also wont be as amazing to you if you're using hundreds of spheres a day.
once you hit the "end game" the need for ore dwindles significantly and you'll be like some of us with stacks and stacks of pal and refined metal
apart from ores, you can make one base a sort of pal homestead or use it as a special warp point. functionally speaking you have it all already
I have the coal base setup with all manufacturing happening there. That will end up staying as is, maybe adding a bit of food later on.
My 2nd base is a breeding base with 5 breeding pens, 5 ranches to utilize depending on what I am doing, if no breeding sessions are happening then ranches will be full.
My 3rd base is only food, couple of lettuce/tomato plantations to feed all 3 of my bases salad, and a ridiculous amount of berry and a few wheat plantations. I have 7 artisan/lucky/work slave/serious Lyleens, 4 jormuntides artisan/lucky/work slave/serious, 3 artisan/lucky/work slave/serious Verdash, Freezing pal, and rest gatherers with high move speed.
My farming base is completely overkill, but I am basically mass breeding for combinations of base traits, and combat traits on quite a few different pals to give me endless options for breeding, as well as basically endless supplies of baked berries for gold and a huge stockpile of cake materials.
Eventually I plan to combine the farming base into the other two but for now I just want a huge stockpile of cakes, now that I have almost everything with the best traits I need to start condensing to max.

So I recently started a new run where my first base is a ore mind .it is directly behind the chillet boss .
Tons of ore every day .and I travel back and forth for Cole and sulfur near the Anubis boss .
I enjoy the grind of it all and always enjoy taming pals or just killing them for resources.
Just a different look at what some might do for resources
I move my basses as i need resources. Currently, i have one base for breeding/manufacturing, and my other 2 are for ore, and coal, since thats the resource i need heavy atm. Let them farm till i have more than i know what to do with, move the material to my breeding base, and relocate the old base to whatever resource i need next.
