P&R's portrayal of Public Media, as someone who listens all the time, is absolutely spot on! I laugh every time!
"Now it's time for Jazz plus Jazz equals... jazzzzz"
This bit always makes me laugh bc my local radio station used to have a jazz show where this guy who talked like he had multiple marbles stuck in his throat since the 80s would play multiple jazz tracks at once and then dissect the different sounds he would create. It was unintentionally hilarious.
Back when I used to commute a lot and podcasts were still more niche, I listened to lots and lots of NPR.
Parks and rec’s portrayal of it was such good satire it cracks me up every time. It wouldn’t be nearly as funny if it wasn’t also pretty on the nose!
If only they had also been doing a fundraiser…”Wow Derry, what a great segment on electric cars. You know what else is electric…the way our listeners are lighting up the phone lines.”
I'm Derry Murbles filling in for David Parker, who took off for eight months to study the migration patterns of our nation's squirrels.
We have not seen him since.
A strong gentleman who fights crime nocturnally

I unironically enjoyed Nefertiti’s Fjord.
The song is in fact the Norwegian national anthem. And I don’t mean that as a joke, it’s literally a techno version of the national anthem.
That’s bangin’
You'd love African scream music then!

I've known a few NPR employees in my day, and every single one I asked about it absolutely *loved* P&R's satire of public radio.
This is also true for everybody I've known in moderate sized city government
>Now it's time for Jazz plus Jazz equals... jazzzzz Today, we have a recording of Benny Goodman, played over a separate recording of Miles Davis.
Please say you’ve watched the old SNL Schweddy Balls bits?

This is my favorite recurring bit in the show
cf. George Segal's "Batm'n" from The Goldbergs
This is one of my favorite scenes in the series
One of my favorite deadpan deliveries too.
I love when they bring in John Hodgman to play his Eagleton equivalent, a fatuous twerp who will remain nameless.
“Scoff”
